New 2004 nsx build

they all worked but I knew that would get me pulled over so I brought the tails from my 2004 with my carry-on lugage, the driver is mint but the passenger one was cut by the fire department, but they only cut the reverse light on that side,

so I got a few zip-ties and zipped the temp lights in place they all worked
and the spoiler light worked so I was good.

yeah the car was banged up in the rear but all the lights would pass inspection.

when I get a chance i will upload shawns "solution" to getting the back fender more flush with the car lol

Jason did you video tape that or was it just pics

did you take pics of the finished rear?

upload them I wanna see

this was the "solution"

A swift kick to tha ass so to speak lol. The drill on the floor was used to drill holes that can be seen in the fenders as well. I wish I would have got better pics of shawn breaking off the lights with a big screw driver lol.

This is bananas! I give it to those with mad wrench skills. You seem calculated and hopefully you can get your money out of all of this. If not at least you will posses some new skills and some good stories to tell.

Can't wait to see how these two turn out. Good luck!

OK im back guys, was sent to time-out zone,

update, this silver 2004 is actually in the Paint shop now.

the Paint shop told me that they are gonna take off the sub frame

and paint under everything.

I told them SPARE no expense. Better than OEM,

when I dropped off the car they told me this was their favorite car and they didnt know why they didnt have one in the showroom floor.

the guys painting it are Best Friends with Carroll Shelby, yes Shelby.

I asked if he is ever at their shop to call me I would like to meet him.

they told me that Im next on the list for the car so they will start the paint hopefully next week or so.

the guys doing the paint are called ExtremeMotorcar
heres their link

http://www.extrememotorcar.com/

they just Chromed a Lambo first in the world with real silver applied onto the car. amazing.

Showed the shot of the chromed Lambo to my 17 year old son and his response was "It's a Nubian!" (Think Star Wars:smile:)

Very cool car.

WOW i've seen that done to a SLR in Dubai as well, alto ugh after the wow that's ugly reaction my second thought would be how much weight was added?

reassemble is easy, after new TB/WP and valve adjustment is done on the original motor will remove sub frame, put engine and tranny back on.

put all new brake lines in, put sub frame back in, then new main coolant alum lines, gas tank, Positive cable from battery, new coolant hoses front and rear, gas tank neck, then swap everything from Jason's car to this one. check fuse's start car. IF it starts, will drive it around the block, then put cats and OEM muffler back on

then put all the Body panels, engine glass ,both rear quarters, rear bumper, trunk/spoiler, temp rig tail lights to the car, drive it to the paint shop for round 2 of the perfect paint.

put all the interior back in, do full interior cleaning and then drive the car.

Done.

yeah there are gonna be some minor issues but nothing I cant handle.

there should be no reason this car will not start. with a working/running car next to it with all the parts i need.

Shawn - I think it should be a rule that ANY posts you make in this thread should be accompanied with pics. Take a lot - we all want to follow along and see the journey.

Ok I purchased Jason's NSX I flew into Cali and drove it from California to Tampa. I got back yesterday at 4pm. The whole ride home this 2002 drove straight and true I dont think there is frame damage, the insurance company looked at the car and said just total it, dumb ass move in my book this car was totally fixable.

but I must part it out. it makes me sad but It will drive again I promise.

anyway I now have all the parts i need to complete this 2004 Build

Pics will be coming soon. I just wanted to update this thread

now this 2004 build will have all OEM parts, and I will be using the original Motor and Original transmission.

looking at Jason's engine it is MINT so this 2004 will be up and running soon.

stay tuned guys.

I'm impressed with the endeavor you're taking, but by looking at the picture it makes more sense to restore Jason's NSX than parting it out to put in your 04. It's just my opinion since all the detail I have is reading this thread.

I think the restoration was the point. The rebuilt ride is like a benny.

He clearly has the skill to dissemble (and hopefully reassemble) so where is the fun in biting off what you can chew?

Financially this project doesn't make too much sense to me.
Plus most people prefer not to buy cars with a salvaged title.
But this seems like Shawn's hobby so my hats off to him for taking on this endeavor.
I hope everything turns out to be the way he imagined.

I think its a little difficult for anyone to accurately guesstimate on the financial aspect as we have no info (to my knowledge its not public) on how much he paid for the vehicles, how much he is paying for the repairs/paint work he can't perform, and what he can potentially make back in salvage parts if he decides to part out the nonrebuilt car.

Sean did most of the tear down, so there is likely little in the way of R&I costs, so he might just have to pay for few grand to prep and paint as I don't think he wants/needs to do a full repaint. he has a doner car full of spare parts, so if he can put it all (or the majority of it) togeather himself, he might be ok.

Say he paid 15k for each vehicle, and pays 10-15k for prep/paint and misc, and the rest is his time and effort. He'd effectively be 40-45k (ish) into a car that undamaged would likely sell for high 50's low 60's. factor in some recovered costs for unused doner car parts, like a full interior, and I think you could break even, or at least be in the ballpark.

The knowledge learned from doing all this work though, to me, that would easily justify the cost even if I ended up oop a few grand, especially given he has another NSX. Even if he sold this one he still has a practical application for all the info gained. My .02

On the other hand this may end up being a cluster fak that eventually drains him to financial ruin. What do I know.

Hard Five,

very wise I think about that everyday did I make a bad choice in doing this. will I make any profit off these Projects? Also the knowledge learned and the finished product will be a reward in itself.

Well worth it in my book.

I am doing all the work body, engine etc.etc.so I am saving big time on that, the only thing I cant do is the painting, I have all the equipment to do it but would not want to F-K up the 19K mile 2004. its mint from the engine to the front, interior is mint still smells like a new car.

the guys that are painting it are doing the engine bay and sides misc. stuff for about 1000-1400.

Then once i complete the car, were as its running and purring like a kitten.
will put all the body panels back on and take it back to them to do the rear re-spray and blend it all in to look perfect again.so another 1500 possibly, they have to blend it even though the doors paint is perfect, with the silverstone color if they didnt blend it the paints would not match.

after the car is done I will try and sell it for a little less than market value.
hopefully the price I decide on will cover some of the cost for the 2002 I purchased from Jason. then I would need to recoupe the balance of the second car, then basiclly part out the whole 2002 and make a NICE chunk of money.

or put Jason's NSX on the side of my house and slowly fix her up, and sell her then make a huge Chunk of money, thats the plan. it sound good on paper. we will see in the end.

update on the silver car stopped by the paint shop on Monday, it in the booth being sanded and preped for paint. it coming along. pics soon.
