HP Turbo Installation Started

My turbo is leaking oil.

Wow, that comment means about nothing to me. Turbo's being for the most part enclosed units, when people say the turbo itself is leaking oil, they see white smoke out the exhaust meaning they are burning oil. By "oil leaking" you mean the center housing, then I would say the turbo itself isn't leaking, just the oil feed and return lines. Most of the time when a turbo lets go you USUALLY will not have oil pissing out of the turbo itself, you will just be driving around like the bat mobile with a cloud of white smoke behind you and tons of oil in your intercooler pipes.

I would like to offer you some advice or maybe help but your statment of "my turbo is leaking oil" would be like you wondering what tires I am running on my nsx and me responding: " I am running 16 in tires"

Can't tell exactly where on the turbo, but the pipe that comes off the turbo, and leads down to the exhaust. There was oil on the clamp. Doesn't seem to be any white smoke or black smoke. I will get some pics tonight. But I will have to get it on a hoist.....

Sounds like the turbo is just fine, just that you need to hook up the oil return line a little better. On my S2000 set-up instead of using teflon tape I used honda bond on the treads. It worked great although some have diffrent oppinions on what you should and shouldn't use. Do some research.

i just had the same issue not too long ago on my garret turbo and it was the oil drain line that was leaking. tighten and you should be ok or hook up properly.
regards.

My wastegate blew off last night. Not sure how it happened. I was accelerating hard, in boost, then POP. Thank god I was around the corner from my house. I had to go back and find the clamp. It was the bolt that held the clamp that broke. Put a new bolt in and seems to be fine.

The headlights are produced by revolution; http://www.revo-tune.jp

I am not sure if they're out of production, but they're just over $2k for a set, so perhaps somewhat cost-prohibitive.

John,

Thanks for this post. What would tuning/install costs for this product run? BTW car is looking better than ever.

These costs depend on your tuner/installer... It seems a rough range for AEM tuning costs is around $500-850; I have seen nsx F/I installation prices range from $800-1500.

Here are some pictures from today...

You better make some good videos when this thing gets set up; like walking from a 997 Turbo or F430.

Looking good...

It is just my eyeballs or did you grind the Rear Beam Rod Assembly (the brace that connects the lower control arms) to make room for the piping?

Jim,

That was actually done by the previous owner to fit headers to the car - apparently first generation nsx headers required this modification, and it is a common practice.
