HP Turbo Installation Started

It comes with it's own exhaust and it is not possible to use another NSX specific exhaust without a lot of hacking. Trust me you will love the sound of a Magnaflow with boost.

One question i don't think has been answered... Will the kit work with any exhaust system or are there only a few that work? Does it have its own exhaust system?

Just curious if there was still a possibility for a semi-nsx pitch'ed exhaust note.

The kit replaces the car's headers and exhaust, it comes with a magnaflow - nsx exhausts are not compatible.

turbo cars (nsx) with the magnaflow still have the high pitched whail that they used to....it is a great sounding solution...and it is under $100 bucks !!

Hey John,
I'm the tall John you met over at Ramon's as I was picking up my black 95. Looks good. I'll have to stop by to see it in person. Would love a ride when she's all done

If you don't mind me asking..... Where did you get the badge? Ive been looking for one and now that Honda has one I would love to get my hands on one.....

John is that the GT-Rom coolant tank with the oil catch can as one? how did you like that thing so far?

man I don't know who is more nuts... you are me. I think you...

Acura RDX 'turbo' emblem is part number: 75725-STK-A01

Call an Acura dealership and ask if they have any available; it's chrome, but some fine grit sanding, primer, and flat black spray paint work wonders.

Your the man!

Dave, It is the gtrom one piece tank, as far as experience... the tank was installed with the turbo, it hasn't been in use yet. It seems to be a quality unit, and it's nice not having a catch can hanging on the firewall, both items in one unit cleans everything up.

I got to take a ride in ccathey's HP car this weekend and man was it ever a nice experience! Viper Driver did as well. Also got to meet Jimmy with HP. Seems like a really nice guy.

The cars sounded awesome and pulled like a mofo. You are going to love it!

Odenspike,
It was nice meeting with fellow NSX owners this weekend. You really have a sweet car (all you need now is some boost). Give me a call if you come down sometime. I'll call you next time I come up.
Craig

No news to report, the AEM, for a kit ordered January 12th, is apparently on back order May 3rd - also, some misc fittings were not included in the package, or were the wrong size, and we're waiting on replacements - the car hasn't changed much since the first day.

Also, the water cooler tank sent with the kit was the wrong size, and doesn't fit in the trunk:

Still waiting to hear from HP on this.

John, I hope Ramon is not charging you "rack rental"!

John

I am sending you out a new tank that has the fittings already in so you don't have to do anything but install it. It fits perfect in there, we checked before we sent it out. I have issued a call tag to have UPS pick up the original tank. I also included all the fittings you requested, and a couple extra in case.

As far as the AEM, they are on back order until the 15th. I have been in contact with Ramon at Nigel motors and updated him as you requested via PM.

Here is the tracking number for your new tank 1ze166y30349005518 as soon as i get the AEM's here, i will next day air it to you for the completion, sorry for the delays.

Jimmy:biggrin:

I have attached two pics showing where the pump goes before the tank install, then where the tank sits. If you have questions, let me know

Well scorp, at least things seem to handled professionally. I understand the frustration, though. At least someone is address these issues in a quick way and not leaving you in the dark.

Just out of curiousity, shouldn't there be some sort of grommet around that hose that goes through the aluminum panel so it doesn't rub through?
Am I not seeing this properly or will that hose not move in any way?

Stacy

PS Can't wait to see what you think of the "New found horsepower", John!

Good observation.

Sorry to hear things are not going too smoothly. Many of us are watching/listening very carfully.

On the subject of the rez in the trunk... Won't the h2o temp in there eventually match that of the engine coolant? If so, that location is a bust for me. Doesn't it make more sense to put it up front in the old spare tire position? (heat and weight) Of course I'm the only one with the spare still up there but I'll happily toss it for a worthy cause.

Also, how is the oil return system setup? Right into the pan? Did you have to puncture/mod it?

Last, isn't there some issue with the oil leaving the turbo being very frothy? Is there something to reduce it's 'frothi-ness'?

Thanks

Jim, welcome to the club, I still have my spear up there and we both are 02+ Silverstone.

Did HP ever got back to you regarding the AEM for OBDII?

James, did you forget who I am? But thanks for the rewelcome again.

I'm still trying to make sense of all this obeeonekonobee stuff. From what I understand the kit price comes with an aem but not the one we need. HP said there is a $1k credit for not taking their aem and then we have to get the SoS one which is $3k.

Jim, did I missed something? We miss you yesterday at SCA.

I wish HP can supply the F-Con for a little more instead of making us use the SOS one. If I remember correctly, Factor X was selling the F-Con for $2400 install and tune, but I could be wrong.

James, I think we're just miscommunicating. I missed you all as well. I had big plans to be there but couldn't make it. Next month for sure.

Why would the water temp in the tank ever match that of the engine? The water never gets what i would consider hot, it does manage to get warm at best. Just above room temp. Putting the tank in the front won't do much at all for the temp. The only difference would be the lengh the water has to travel, so it has a little more time to cool. The res. in the rear is the same since the rear doen't get hotter then front.

On the AEM, we will continue to send the same AEM with all our kits, if you would like to upgrade it to a different model AEM, we can do that for the extra cost. We want you to have what you want.

Jimmy:biggrin:
