Where are all the Production deliveries ??

Been wondering something.

Can somebody explain to this NSX newb what "130R" means.

Searched but couldn't find an explanation.

That's it? It's just the paint number for the white color?

I figured it referenced something cool like some tough corner at a racetrack or something.

How mundane.

It is my understanding that the colors were named after corners of famous racetracks around the world.. So 130R is the name of one of the curves on one of the tracks in Japan. Nouvelle and Casino are corners at the Monaco Formula 1 circuit, and I'd have to google the other color names and figure out which racetracks the remaining names come from.

Suzuka is correct..... I originally heard it was names of Japanese race circuit corners, but after a little research, it appears to be names from famous tracks worldwide. More google searching will reveal the answers to the correlation of curves and colors I'm sure.....

The first time you take 130R flat out your hair turns white...thus the color

It finally arrived! Holy cow. This thing is another level.

This car makes my 991 GTS feel like child's play.

Don't feed the bears? Does that mean, don't wrap it around a tree? Or don't get pulled over by "smokey"?

After day 1, I'm giddy like a school girl.

Couple thoughts immediately jumped out at me on the first drive, which was my first time ever driving or even sitting in an NSX...

- I fit! At 6'2" and 240lbs, I was worried I would be squished. I fit fine. Still have about 2" of space from top of my head to ceiling. Still stupid the seats have no up/down adjustment. Especially since the manual mentions it on pg. 67.

- the view looking out is panoramic. I was a little worried it would be somewhat claustrophobic like when wearing a hooded sweatshirt, but nope. Visibility is quite good, especially for a mid-engine.

- It is low; like really low. Feels like I'm sitting just inches off the pavement, cause well, I am. Sitting at stoplights, all I see is grill/headlights of the car behind me.

- Being so low, I was worried about scraping the front. On my first drive yesterday, I went on my normal route to my office, kid's school, gym, grocery store center, and it cleared every driveway and speed bump just fine. Phew! Although a lift should have been engineered into this car by Acura.

- It actually sounds decent at WOT; but DPs will be ordered.

- I didn't think I would ever care/use the EV mode, but it was quite cool cruising in/out of my neighborhood silently.

- Why is every other car trying to race me??? Had an older guy in a new Miata get downright annoyed at me, and he just had to blow past me. Whatever.

- The trunk smells pretty bad. Reminds me of gluing models together when I was young. Same model glue smell.

- This car garners attention. Not as much as a Lambo or Fcar, but much more than my 911s. When I brought my 2015 911 GTS home, all I got was a thumbs up from one of the neighbors. Yesterday, I had 6 neighbors come over into my garage, including the bimbo-wife down the street. Go figure. My kids think they are rock stars when riding in it.

- The handling is amazing. So planted. Makes me realize how much of a GT car my 911s were. THIS is a supercar.

- Clear bra is a must. I was debating on doing it since car is leased, and I won't make the decision to buy it until lease end. But the wedge-shape of the hood and fenders are like targets for rocks. I was paranoid about it on my first drives. It's going in for wrap this week. The peace of mind will be worth it.

- Car has ample storage actually. I'd read so much about how there is no storage. Between the pocket above the arm rest on the door, and the two areas on the center tunnel, I can fit my iPhone X, the key, and my sunglasses. What else does one need? Maybe if this is a person's only car, I can see it, but I have other more practical cars for doing errands/trips.

Anyway... my initial thoughts. More to come.

I've never noticed any kind of pocket in the door, good tip! I'll look closer lol

The footwell is too generous to hold my work bag with my laptop in it securely in place while executing "maneuvers". In the '96 there's enough room behind the driver's seat for it, but not in this one. So in this car my laptop goes in the trunk in the course of regular commuting. Not the end of the world, but it is an extra step when getting in/out vs the 96, and I imagine it's still flopping around a fair bit back there during "maneuvers", I just don't have to see it/be distracted by it flying around.

I wish there was a dedicated spot for sunglasses up by the mirror or something, and I wish the detachable cupholder fit in the glovebox at the same time as the manual/paperwork holder.

I'll just put my briefcase on the passenger seat.

I keep the cupholder in the glovebox, and the manual in the trunk secured inside a mesh velcro pocket attached to the trunk sidewall. I don't like things flopping around in the trunk.

Potential projectiles in the cabin concern me during "maneuvers". And yes I do explore the limits of lateral grip on my commute - there's a couple dope on/off ramps that are tight, banked corners

So, according to the door sill sticker, my car, #289 , was built in 9/16. It was delivered to me with 28 miles on it. So that means it sat on the showroom floor for close to a year and a half. I wonder if that amount of time sitting without running or exercise will have any adverse effects?

The car had a full tank of gas when delivered also. Wonder if the gas could be stale?

If it was stored indoors they probably would have kept a minimum of fuel in it for fire safety reasons. I bet they filled it up shortly before delivering it to you.

This car's ability to self-monitor is on another level so I have to assume if the long sit had caused any issues with the hybrid system, it would have told you already.

Agree that there was likely a minimum of fuel in the car. Filling the car up dilutes the old fuel to the point where it shouldn't be a problem. Fuel these days sucks. You have to do some research to find good gas. There is what is called "top tier" gas sold by certain stations. There is a difference in fuel quality from brand to brand.

Here in Colorado, it is state mandated that all fuel in the winter months be laced with 10% ethanol. Supposedly after that it is allowed to sell fuel at the pump not containing Ethanol. As the ethanol fuel is cheaper, basically you now see it sold year round. I'm hoping to find a good source of non ethanol fuel starting in March...... Currently using Shell gas locally, as it is top tier. Hoping they will sell "clear" gas soon........

Somewhere it states that you have to operate the car so many hours in so many days/months to keep a charge on the Lithium battery, but it is minimal. I would guess that the battery will be OK, but it is under warranty.......

Don't do either! But what I meant was "don't get pulled over by "smokey"
Enjoyed your thoughts after "day 1."

that is an interesting point..if it were me I would ask about battery health for cars not driven and produced over a year ago...

If it was at a dealership for that period of time they should have followed procedure which is to let the car run for 30 minutes every three months to prevent the high voltage battery from draining. They also should have had it connected the 12v battery to an accessory battery charger The owners manual details this on page 206-207.

Also in regards to doing some clear bra on the car, obviously you will want to do the front however I would also recommend doing the entire edge of the doors including the bottom as well as the painted area of the door sills. Also would recommend raking the film from the bottom edge of the door and going up the side till right below the lowest body line on the door. It keeps the line hidden but gives some protection for that panel. Also would recommend covering the area behind the door that flares our towards the rear wheels. This should be covered partially by film from the factory but is another area that can catch some stones while driving.

I've seen some nasty dings and chips on the bottom edges of doors from being opened into curbs. Also seen some people that are admiring the car accidentally kick up rocks into that lowest portion of the door that is angled down which is why I recommend doing that as well.

We are having the black roof paint corrected and then removing the antenna to place clear bra over the entire roof as well. It's not a fun spot to have scuffs or marks in the paint since you will see them every time you get in the car.
