If anyone's been following Matteni's garage lift thread, it seems like many are curious of what others garages look like... I know I'm always looking for new ideas and gadgets... Well, here's mine... GoldNSX and my Schweizer friends... check out the banner over the tool box... Hop Aarau!!

Hi Rob! Great idea starting this thread. I enjoy seeing what some of the garage maniacs are doing.

For myself, I just wanted a place to hide everything and keep the dust off. (I'm pretty lazy, so anyway to reduce that spring cleaning is for me). You might note a big Christmas wreath on the wall. Later, I put up some bifold doors to hide the beast. Once again - made the wreath so I only have one light (well it has 700 bulbs) to hang during the holidays. Quick set up and tear down. Lazy........

All these photos were taken before I lifted the single bay garage door and installed a lift. The floor is still UGLY!

Shaun

Eiffel, yup, that's a Hawk alright (good eye).... kind of a niche market like the NSX, it's my second Hawk... a 91 with 7500 miles.

Shaun Ray, love the lift from the other thread... and the cabinets keep things real neat. have to agree with you on the bi-fold doors. nice addition. each year my wife makes me pull down 12 tupperwares full of crap to set up... what a pain!

Rob,

Every year our house looked like the Griswald's Christmas! One year, I tried every light on the ground before pulling the strands up onto the house. When I plugged it all in, 1/2 the lights would work! I was in a phychotic state yanking all the lights off the house that season.

That prompted me to build the wreath. I've been much more sane since then. By the way, nice garage. You are using the space very well. Looks like a real handyman's garage, for sure.

Hi Rob!

Cool! :) You have to turn the Aarau banner around by 90 degrees! :D Where do you have it from? :)

Regards,
Thomas

Do you plan on painting it? The Home Depot has some GREAT products when it comes to painting the floors for a garage. There are a few steps to do it (Cleaner, Primer(Almost like a glue, seriously, its STICKY)Paint it self) Going to run $80+ dollars on it, but its worth it.

The wreath looks like a giant Cheerio when lit up. Could have probably thinned it down a little, but oh well.... Thanks for the compliments!

As for the floor, I did see that Home Depot has a floor treatment but runs about $40-$50 per single garage (I'd need three). I've thought about trying it but I'm well aware that surface prep is the key to a good application. Not sure if I would do a good job on that so I've been hesitant. I've got two female drivers at home and there's no way to keep them from turning the steering wheel at a dead stop if they decide they want to. (No offense to the girls out there). I figure such friction from the tires will likely peel off my DIY coated floor. So........might seek professional help!

From what I've heard about that Rustoleum garage floor paint, it's a b**** to put on, due to the necessity of a super-intensive cleaning first. Also, I've been told that it peels fairly easily.

There is a company here in Dallas that will do a 2 car garage for around $450 with a different type of coating that is guaranteed to not peel or blister. With all the labor involved, that seems like a good deal to me.

nice garage vegas... i like the eye candy in the left bay too! I see your compressor hose in the bottom left... where is the compressor? I was thinking of relocating mine to the attic above the garage and dropping 2 hoses down.

Thomas, I lived in in Seengen for about 7 months (during WC '94 no less) and went to a ton of Aarau games. They were *almost* good back then. Last I saw they were not so hot! Tschuss!

Ahh, good eye and thanks for the compliments. The compressor is under the work bench by the shop-vac; it's a tiny little thing. I'm in the process of getting a full sized stand up one. That when the hose gets mounted to the ceiling. The attic thing is a good idea. But for me that would mean punching through the floor of my computer room (no attic above garage).

The garage itself was actually really simple and really fun to do. I used the DIY epoxy that you can get at any home improvement store. 2 kits for $50 each; one for each side. Yes, it flakes and peels pretty easily but it really wasn't that hard to apply and it looks a million times better than the oil soaked concrete. The paint wasn't more than $40 or so. The NSX prints and banner were bought off of eBay and the frames I got at WalMart for all less than $40. I made the wall mounted logo and NSX out of wood and a dremmel/router from some scrap wood. The cabinets were from Lowes for a about $40 each. And I made the work bench out of 2x4's. All totalled, I would say the total project cost me well less than $350 and 1.5 days out of my weekend. It was a lot of fun to do and I highly recommend it.

NICE!! The spot lights and NSX logo stuff is way cool. Some day I might try to make a logo set like yours for my garage.

Looks like you have plenty of room to play (work?) in that space.

oh my.... Seeing all these garage pics always made me so sad to live in an apartment and yesterday my dream has come true. I bought a new house with a big garage  The NSX will now have a nice cozy resting area and I want it to look exactly like this garage.

Congrats on the house! Having a garage rules. By your different avatars, I look forward to the artwork you might hang... let's see some before and afters of the garage!
