The Official 2018 F1 Thread

i sat in the harbour for the race, on the back of a boat as the cars few by just before "swimming pools" (there's heaps of grandstand seating along there). watched qualifying at Casino, which was a pretty awesome spot also. as long as you get a good seat where you can see some action, it'll be pretty amazing. it's a very unique experience, completely different from being at an actual race circuit...

I'm going next year. Maybe general admission since I will be able to move around. I've been on the grid stands in Canada and Parabolica in Monza. Both cool, I'd like to see more like you can at COTA (motoGP/WEC visits). Do you have any suggestions?

Was at Monaco last year, from what I remember there wasn't any GA last year, you need to have a seat. fataussie is right, it's pure madness. Sit in Casino Square for FP1 & FP2 or for Qualifying. I watched the race from right across the track from the Swimming Pool and we saw lots of action.

GA is for Saturday only this year. Thanks for the advice from everyone. France is going through massive transportation strikes at the moment, so any Primers headed that way should check ahead if your travel plans include rail and air plans.

OK - one benefit I see with the ESPN / Sky Sports marriage is the availability of FP1 and FP2 replays (watching Bahrain FP1 now) via www.watchespn.com. I don't think this was available when NBCSN carried the coverage (I may be wrong though).

Camera coverage is far superior to NBCSN.

Bahrain 2018 - Entire F1 race commercial free. Amazing.

That was entertaining! Bummed to see the Red Bull's go out like that. I hope the mechanic for Ferrari is okay, that was a bad mix up. It would be nice to have post race coverage instead of High school cheerleading

Sensational P4 for Gasly (with a little bit luck). Best of the rest. Hartley ruined his race in the first corner again. :( Ok, young drivers. Gasly didn't wanted to reveal the contributing factors fully. I think that the new Honda power unit he got after the race in Australia added to the upgrade. Hartley was still on the 1st power unit.
Mostly important: they have reached in the 2nd race more than McLaren in three years.

Next week: China. I hope it to be as entertaining as Bahrain.

Bahrain 2018 - Entire F1 race commercial free. Amazing.

San Antonio market gets 9 hour tape delay (race aired on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m.) AND commercials. My brother-in-law up in Dallas watched the race commercial free live. Go figure.

Having said that, great race. Happy to see what could be Honda turning a corner of sorts in the Torro Rosso chassis.

It was live at 11:00am here on the east coast commercial free on ESPN2 (if I remember right). It was a huge improvement from race 1. I like SKY so far except sometimes with the English accents I find myself saying "huh, what did he just say".

MWAGNER, what television system do you have I have DirecTV I don't get FP 1 or 2

Xfinity / Comcast. Xfinity doesn't show FP1 or FP2 either. Only FP3, quali and the race. You can use www.watchespn.com and get FP1 and FP2 on a replay basis as well as the F2 races.

I have Dish network and Saturday morning ESPN2 was carrying FP3. A couple hours later, Qualifying; both live. I wouldn't think that local (regional) providers would have enough pull to reprogram ESPN. I know it is possible for the provided to do that, just didn't think they would to ESPN.

Again I have just recently changed over to Direct TV, I have another problem just looked at my programming and I only get qualifying and the race no practice 2

Update, usually I watch qualifying in the race on channel ESPN2 and practice but they've changed it this week practice will now be on ESPN Saturday 8 PM again and that's on Direct TV what a freaking headache...

Watched a replay of the race on the ESPN app, no commercials. A lot better than the Australia broadcast.

Very exciting race too!

edit - great news Miner!

You DirecTV users... you won't miss anything if you just set the DVR to automatically record F1 on both ch. 207 & 209 -- same for the "On The Grid" pre-race. So, that's three auto-record settings and you won't miss a thing (even practice and qualy). By the way, you'll need to do the same thing for ABC when they start running there (Monaco May 27). You might want to set the recordings to run a little long just in case.
Easy peezy.

Dish is the same way, they move stuff around between all the different ESPN channels.
