Re: Yawn......

No racing at the front....so I guess it was fun to see some real racing back in the pack. Looks like Toro Rosso got the good tires this time.

Was there even a local yellow?

I think the rules wizards need to introduce rewards weight.

So the new rules at mid season, are to drag down RBR performance?
I don't think that's cool if that is only reason.

Btw, after the Canada race, this one was a snooooozer!!

The comentador from the BBC, "Sergio Peres" dreaming of Australia with his one stop strategy, that wont work this time" after the race "I think Perez's strategy paid off". He is always picking on Perez. so, in his face!!

Would you rather they ignore Peres altogether?? They can only comment on what they see developing before them, and like you and me they are only human. I find them very good commentators, they certainly know far more about F1 than you or I. At least he admitted his earlier call might have been off the mark? :D

Ya you right, I do like the speed guys better though, more eximent and they are on the ball more often, Steve matchett it's so sharp to catch little details.

On the other hand the guy from BBC always knows what's happening with car, he was a driver too. But still very very monotone .

With all due respect to Steve Matchett, I doubt his breadth of knowledge quite matches BBC commentator Martin Brundle, who retired from F1 in 1996 with 158 GPs under his belt. Or special comments man David Coulthard who retired from F1 in 2009 with 13 race wins under his belt.

It's funny how different nationalities click with different styles. To me the BBC commentary with Brundle and Coulthard is spot on, not monotone at all

Did anyone else catch Coulthard's comment about Webber not always having the same machinery as his team mate?? A throw away line but.......

Or did you catch David's coments, when Massa tried to pass Vettel on the first turn?
"if that would of being Lewis he would of pass him"
In other words, if you were a better driver you would of made it stick.

Ya is good to have two ex F1 drivers doing the commentary but sometimes is good to have the technical inside view that mattchett has, He actually prepared the cars which MSC won the tittle in 94 and 95, and all the races between.

I just find it really interesting.

Well it has come to pass, young Daniel Ricciardo has got a seat in F1 with Hispania.

It would seem that Red Bull are happy enough with the two drivers in Torro Rosso and so have found him a seat with another team to give him race time at F1 level. Now it is up to Daniel to show everyone just how good he is by beating his team mate Luizzi, if he can. If not, the Red Bull treadmill will spit him out quick smart as we all know.

Wow, I can say I know an F1 driver personally!

Couldn't happen to a nicer young man, and his father [who is equally as nice] has invested a heap of money into this venture.

Can we just get rid of Valencia? Please? I don't even bother to watch this Tilkefied Monaco-wannabe anymore. The circuit has no soul and the racing blows. Hell, if they must have 2 races in Spain, go back to Jerez for one of them---

Re: "looked" wet?

Hadn't noticed that you were a master of understatement before.

Oh wait, that was Silverstone? so just a nice summer day with a little drizzle........comparatively speaking, huh?

Hoping for wet? I'm hoping that Seb gets food poisoning and can barely get in the car. Damn rule makers won't give him 300# of rewards weight and make him wear an eye patch.

I watched like 30 seconds of practice this morning and there were no cars on the track so they showed the start / finish straight and it looked only slightly wet.

it is England in the summer so as you say, that is pretty normal.

Geez! Tell us how you really feel about him!

Let's just let Louis and Jenson give him a wedgie on the starting grid.

Re: Well, truth be told........

Just having fun. Yeah, I know you're shocked.

I don't dislike Vettel, I'm just playing devil's advocate or rather making fun of the "parity" this year and those who "should" logically be against Vettel or anyone throwing things out of balance.

And yeah, he looks like the skinny nerd in the locker room who we'd all give a wedgie too. 5 or 10 years from now, it will be interesting to see how people accept him if he becomes as dominant as Schumi was.

Last question:

Q. What do you see as the company’s value? I think you’ve been quoted as saying it’s worth $6 billion or $7 billion.

A. What do I think it is worth? I have never quoted anything. It may have been written, but I haven’t quoted. A gentleman never speaks about money and last night.

Re: Who'll be 2nd?

I know the FOX race broadcast is going on but I'm about 45 minutes behind on the DVR, so I'll throw out a thought or 2, just for giggles.

Conventional wisdom says Fred will whip up on Mark for 2nd and finish about 30 seconds behind cruising Seb. But who knows, something unusual might happen and maybe they'll take each other out and............. .OMG, we'll see one of the new kids on the block get on the podium?

It would be too much to hope for an asteroid to crash out Seb, but it sure would be interesting if he DNF'd.

Actually I think I'll pay more attention to the new kids at the back. Wouldn't it be fun to see the new guy in HRT make a pass or two? OK, OK, I'm putting the pipe down.....................now.

As Ricky Ricardo put it so well: the McLaren pit crew has some 'splainin' to do.

Sparrows Impression's:

  • Sebestian Vettel can't pass like Hamilton, Alonso, or even Button, nor can he pressure anyone of greater talent to make an error.
  • RBR deserves the biggest facepalm the internetz can find.
  • What's wrong with Webber's start/launch setup? I don't think he's had one good start this whole season and this issue has been lingering since last season too.
  • Which is worse, Vettel or Alonso winning?
  • Ferrari has done an amazing job persuading the FIA to ban both hot & cold blown diffusor techniques. They couldn't get either to work on their F150 POS and now are possibly on par with RBR. Still not sold their on pace seeing as how Hami did a great job of blocking both Vettel & Webber allowing Alonso to pull out that gap.
  • The race was interesting, better than Valencia but I hated seeing the silly mistakes on McLaren's part (rookie mistakes from a veteran team) & RBR with the team orders bullshlt.
