The Official 2011 F1 Thread....Now That 2010 is Over

I'm up in Montreal as we speak. Having a great time. (just wish I packed a sweatshirt and jeans its like 60 degrees and windy)

Here are some videos I took from phone. Not great but its still a sick sound, first few are from the the hairpin down the back straight the the others are from my seats.

Re: Time to recycle........

all the traditional complaints about Fox coverage. Matchett and the boys must be rolling their eyes out of their heads trying to dumb down the color commentary.

Let's see, I can get BBC coverage on-line, right? Time to do that. :frown:

P.S. can 't wait to hear Hamo pop off about his phucque-up.

WOW!!! What a GREAT race and win!!!!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

EDIT:
THAT IS BS!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

NO penalty!!! F Yeah! great race.

Not the smoothest win ever, but a win is a win. I'm not sure any winner has ever wrecked as many other cars and still pulled off the victory.

I was happy to see MSC run well in the rain.

Todt needs to start laying down some heavy stuff to Mclaren, Hamilton has been involved in to much and Button was in two today. Now i know this isnt Jenson, but i still cant believe nothing was handed to him after his teamate did the same thing last race.

(btw i hate Hamilton, he isnt what Mclaren is, he complains, blames others and if he doesnt win its the teams fault, im tired of hearing him complain. and the "race" comment last race I lost all respect :D)

Great drive, JB ! You remind me more of Senna than of Prost, even though you've said you prefer to be compared to Prost than Senna.

OMFG!!!!!!
What a weekend it was amazing, I have no voice left , I left Montreal at 10:30 pm arrive at T.O at 2:30 am and starred work at 5:30am this morning but worthed .

After qualy on Saturday we went back to our place change and went out to meet Will Buxton for beers, and that was Beatiful .

This little tiny joint were we met was packed with F1 paddock staff, couple of Renault mechanics, F1 fothographers which who I had a great chat and to my surprise mr Webber, Karun, Narain, and Senna turn out to the F1 chat too.

They all so cool and friendly, Will buxton did a great job , Twitter it's awesome.

The Ferrari challenge was a great race too, they were RACING hard every corner of the race, and of course the main event I lost it when I reliesed Kobayashi was second and how he actually was holding his ground against Massa for a while, and then Michael at the front pushing Vettel at the restart people were going insane !! And thats how I lost my voice.

And to top it ALL of Vettel enters the turn too hot on the last lap and gets pass , right in front of ME that was my section!!!
You could image how crazy people went!!!

Tired and typing from my iPhone, going back to work, I'll post a couple shot tonight.

Did I mention it was Beer fest in Montreal at the same time? Uh la la.

Ditto here.
On our way back to LA this morning. Great F1 venue and wonderful city to explore. Big cheer to Canadians too, nice peole.
Wife got to exchange a couple of words with MS (her hero) and i got to ask Rosberg why he looked bored ( he said he wasn't). Race was very exciting and wet. highly recommend attending Canadian GP.

Good race bad end of Fernando, will not comment touch whit Jenson! But congrats for win. Finally Mclaren and Ferrari can race RB cars.Looks like season is going to be even more interesting.

21-1-2011: McLaren Automotive today announced the manufacturer suggested retail pricing (MSRP) for the McLaren MP4-12C in the US. Starting at $229,000* the 12C will launch as a 2012 model year vehicle with an anticipated on-sale date of late summer 2011.
I want to drive one of those in the English countryside, listen to Supertramp, and have a gorgeous German girl by my side.

That's like BMW's European delivery, except 10X more intense.

"Race on Sunday, sell on Monday"

What a fantastic weekend.

I was there for all 3 days...sun burned on Friday, very happy on Saturday, cold wet and miserable on Sunday, but it was all worth it.

I sat in the center of the grandstands on Turn 7/8 and witnessed the final pass Button made on Vettel...FANTASTIC.

I'll add some pictures when I sort through the 1500 I took this weekend.

GO BUTTON and MCLAREN!!!

Also, the Porsche Cup race was amazing, as well as the Ferrari Challenge race. Some very exciting last minute heroics in both those races. Cooper MacNeil was fantastic both races and sure served up quite an action packed end of both races...

OMFG!!!!!!

I should be able to find you then in my pictures, and those will be posted for sure!

JENSON BUTTON = BEAST

Greatest F1 race i've seen in the last 3-4 years. The guy drove his heart out. Survived two collisions, came back from 21st position, had 6 pits (1 being a drive through penalty), and managed to pull off fastest lap all while finishing first. Absolutely amazing. I really hope the tide turns for McLaren & Jenson.

Found this to be interesting:

Horner basically states both SV & MW had KERS working properly on their cars and has no explanation for why JB had such a better pace than SV towards the last few laps.

Brilliant drive by Jenson; nothing short of a historical performance.
I have been watching F1 since 1967 and have rarely witnessed anything like it. To top it off, I was lucky enough to have been in Montreal this weekend.

Minor detail of the McLarens having wet set-ups on their cars, which is why they were so comparatively slow in qualifying. McLaren took a gamble on a wet race, and looks like at least Button stayed on track to deliver.

As for KERS on the Red Bulls, that smirk that Horner gave on answering the KERS question was interesting. Bluffing? I obviously don't know, but Webber did not have KERS for qualifying according to our Australian broadcast, so when did they get his working? He missed all of Practice 3 with a KERS issue they could not resolve for qualifying. did they resovle it overnight??

Regardless, you race what's on the track, and button did a stirling job. He has always been quick in the wet.

The Speed channel broadcast of Quali said RBR had fixed any issues with Webber's KERS during P3, which is why he didn't go out. He had KERS for the race & quali.

Interesting article, especially what Jenson has to say about How RBR uses the blown exhaust gas...

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh believes that Red Bull's qualifying advantage could be cut by half a second if the planned exhaust-blown diffuser ban is enforced.

The FIA has deemed that the current use of sophisticated throttle mapping to blow exhaust gases through the diffuser even when the driver is off-throttle is a moveable aerodynamic advice and therefore contravenes the regulations. As a result the governing body has announced that the systems will be banned from the British Grand Prix onwards, and Whitmarsh believes that Red Bull will be heavily affected.

"It's quite possible we will close up in qualifying by half a second (if there is a ban)," Whitmarsh is quoted by Auto Motor und Sport.

With Red Bull having by far the quickest car in qualifying but McLaren possessing stronger race pace over the last three grands prix, Canadian Grand Prix winner Jenson Button told Blick that the difference would be less noticeable in races due to the way Red Bull exploits the system.

"They (Red Bull) use the exhaust gases into the diffuser non-stop on a qualifying lap, but not in the race," Button said.

Which would explain the difference in race pace vs quali pace for RBR. Wasting fuel for off-throttle gas during the race would seem silly but not during quali where all you need to do is get pole. However, I don't think the system should be banned.

I was coming back down the stairs, when Vettel overshoot the corner.
This is all I could see... should of stay a little longer....
