Re: RB flexi-wings and loss of control

You can see Seb's in-car video on Youtube that shows the left front wing flex up dramatically just before he loses it. Quite possibly a wing failure or something wierd that would have lost downforce on the left and spun him right into JB? We'll see if that little tidbit gets legs.

It has been discussed on other forums that the Red Bull suffers from sudden loss of front downforce when travelling too close behind, as witnessed by Webber's apparent brain fade in Australia. The drop in downforce means the tires loose grip, presto your going too fast at that point! It wasn't helped by the fact he was veering sharply to jink around Button.

James is noting the issue as well.

Complicated stuff. Should be a while before we get the final forensic analysis. The fact that the Vettel-Webber shemozzle is also mentioned in this discussion suggests that dirty air of the lead car is not a factor as Seb was clearly alongside both Webber and JB when he lost it and the car juked into them.

Let's all send an EM to Adrian Newey.

Here's the Austin F1 track elevation map. I'm loving the rise to the first turn and the variances along the main straight.

This Tilke track actually looks good!

If this is a final look of the track it would be for sure very interesting for drivers and spectators.Few places for over taking up hill and down very nice at all.

that track does look amazing!

I just watched the race and was excited to see both Macca cars jump to the front. I was hoping for a Button win, and with the way the rain was going, there was a good chance it could have happened. That is, until Vettel took him out. Man, I hate that kid more and more every race! Glad he didn't get any points either.

That's at least two races Jenson has lost out on some good points by no fault of his own. Monaco due to his pit crew, and Belgium , thanks to Vettel.

Hamilton got very lucky towards the end of the race. I was wishing for him and Webber to take each other out, or at least lose some places, even though I like Webber.

Great race by Kubica as well. Their improvement are clearly showing.

Force India keeps impressing me with their performance.

Too bad Rubinho couldn't finish his 300th GP.

Ferrari escapes further punishment

http://www.planetf1.com/news/3213/6365379/Ferrari-Off-The-Hook-FIA-To-Review-Rule

Fernando Alonso and Ferrari have escaped further punishment for using team orders during the German Grand Prix.

Ferrari were ordered to appear before Wednesday's World Motor Sport Council meeting in Paris after Hockenheim stewards found them guilty of using a coded message to tell Felipe Massa to allow team-mate Alonso through for the victory.

Alonso and Ferrari faced the prospect of being stripped of the controversial win and/or fined after being charged with breaking article 39.1 and 151.c in the rulebook which state "team orders which interfere with a race result are prohibited" and "any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition, or to the interests of motorsport generally" can be punished respectively.

However, the WMSC decided not to punish either party any further and also confirmed that the so-called team-orders rule will be reviewed.
A statement on the FIA website read: "After an in depth analysis of all reports, statements and documents submitted, the Judging Body has decided to confirm the Stewards' decision of a $100,000 fine for infringing article 39.1 of the Sporting Regulations and to impose the payment of the costs incurred by the FIA.

"The Judging Body has also acknowledged that article 39.1 of the Sporting Regulations should be reviewed and has decided to refer this question to the Formula One Sporting Working Group."

What a joke! :mad::mad::mad:

What would you expect with Todt, the greatest exponet of "team order racing" as head of the FIA??

Having said that, I think that removing that rule is the right thing - team orders has ALWAYS existed in motor racing, and there are so many ways to avoid doing it too obviously........

You just need some savy, which Ferrari seem to be lacking this year?

Why remove such a rule? I want to see racing at its highest pinnacle, not orchestrated endings. If I wanted that, I'd go watch professional wrestling.

As a spectator I too would like to see a level playing field. But you have to understand that F1 is a business, not really a sport like the average person perceives it! To the F1 team, it is ALL about winning - for the team - not necessarily for the driver.

Not expecting you to like it, but that has always been the reality :frown:

watching FP3 right now.

Jenson Button fastest so far!
2. Massa
3. Hamilton
4. Vettel
5. Alonso

Jenson second, Alonso got pole. Waiting for Sandro to over hype Alonso...I still think Jenson is going to win this race. He knows he needs the points and it's do or die time now.

I'm also thinking Jenson is gonna take this one. ;)

Re: Damn close.........

JB drove a stellar race and my hat's off to him. Too bad for him that Fred's crew did such a stellar pit stop.

Had to laugh at Seb's temporary "engine weakness." Kinda makes a mockery of FIA's "no team orders" rule, doesn't it?:biggrin::eek::biggrin: But Horner called it before hand, so the FIA is hopelessly lame at this point.

And WTF is the deal with letting Hulk cut 3 chicanes with no penalty? Or did they add 20 seconds to his time after the race? He should have gotten a drive thru immediately after the first one, instead they allowed him to completely phuque up Webber's race.:mad::mad:

And another lolli-pop screw up. Man, those guys need more practice.

Re: Damn close.........

Sorry guy's Alonso was fastest today.Good job also for Felipe. Finally Ferrari strongest car on grid.
Stupid mistake by Lewis and strange problems on Seb's car.Jenson got great
start and good race.
NO. The fastest pit crew won @ Monza.

+1 - Hulk should have been given a drive through or an order to relinquish his position.

My bouy JB moves up one spot!! tight race for the championship!!

Man it pisses me off that Vettel took him out at Spa. Button was running second, lost out on 18 points. That would have put him at 183 points today, just ahead of Hamilton.

Now if his crew had not pulled that bonehead move with his radiator at Monaco, Button would most certainly be leading the championship.

If it's not Button that wins again this year, I hope Mark Webber takes it.
