Re: OK, time for the FIA to give up

We know the need for team orders is inevitable. Drivers come and drivers go at the pleasure of the teams who continue on for years, so it's foolish to think the teams will not seek to prevail and control their drivers.

In this last F-1 Debrief, Hobbsy and Steve have finally come out unequivocally to say that team orders are also unpreventable. The FIA has set up the conflict between the WDC and WCC. I mean, this is the real world, so the FIA needs to get past this elementary school playground rule and stop being the laughing stock of hardcore F-1 fans.

It is F1 that exist whit this"rules" for years, but more teams do it in glows so they pretend that they don't do it.
Red Bull way faster than all others(sector 2- 0.5sec and 3rd 0.2 per lap from firs next Alonso).Big domination.

Re: OK, time for the FIA to give up

Another pole for Vettel...hopefully he can hold on to the spot in the race. The RBR pace in qualifying was astonishing.
Seriously.
Those RedBulls are fast! RBR and Ferrari might get investigated though, due to their front wings flexing alot.

If a RedBull wins, I hope it's Mark Webber. Lately, Vettel just seems like a whiny b!tch. I'm also rooting for Flippy, he deserved that win last week, should have been his.

Bummed Button got knocked out in Q2. Hopefully he has a great race and doesn't let Hamilton get that much further away from him in the points.
Agree on all points. If RBR has to win, I'd want it to be Webber and I, like yourself, will be cheering on Massa over Alonso.

Second time in a row Button has been knocked out before the third round of qualifying, he needs to get his act together.

I'm over arguing about team orders, but if F1 wants to market itself as the pinnacle of racing than figure out whether you want to market the drivers or the teams and go from there. They can't do both. Its the same situation in the NBA right now, they moved from marketing teams in the 70-80's to individual players as MEGA-STARS (advant of Jordan - side tangent - he created it more so than the NBA marketing the idea) and now they have issues with attendance & ratings for teams without a franchise player.

Highlight of the race for me:

Lap 66: Barrichello gets a much better run out of the final corner and comes alongside ... and Schumacher tries to put the Williams in the pitwall.
Lap 66: But Barrichello holds his nerve, gets his braking spot-on for Turn 1 and takes over 10th place - great move.

what a shitty move by Schumacher, trying to put Rubinho into the wall. Good, he is under investigation!

Hahaha, look at Vettel's face! whaa..

Those trophies look like they were made by kids.

Regards to Mr.Sparrow again we seen who is faster in Ferrari and how difficult is over taking in F1(whit faster car).
Very disappointed about Michael today sure must be punished.Glad to see Mark as winner.

Vettel was faster than Alonso, Alonso should have moved over and let Vettel Pass.

Re: The good, the bad and the ugly

Damn, where to start???

The good:
the agile LR Sauber crewman's nifty move for getting out of the way of Rosberg's tire and the car coming in
Red Bull cars (flexi-wings aside)
Webber for a flawless drive (flexi-wings aside)
Sauber for putting both cars in the points
Petrov for a great result

The bad
Schumi should sit out the next race; 10 spots ain't enough
Vettel for not paying attention and not figuring out why
Button for a pathetic weekend; couldn't pass Go, never mind the $200

The ugly
did I mention Schumi? pretty much sucked all weekend
the RR Merc crewman
the Renault lollipop man
the continued lack of development and pace by the new teams

What did I forget?

The pace car. I am not what the pace speed is supposed to be but it was hauling and the nose was diving hard upon breaking .....

Other than that, Schumi showed again his true colors. I have no respect for that kind of driving, he should be kicked out of F1 ..... and how many of you still recall how he deliberately stalled at a turn in Monte Carlo to avoid giving the pole to a competitor.

Hrant, you kill me.:biggrin::biggrin: All that drama and you're picking out the pace car???? Like maybe the driver was overdriving and needs some coaching from...........I dunno...................maybe you?

You covered pretty all of the drama! Still, if they don't kick or suspend Schumi that would be purely a political/marketing decision; I hear he is drawing about 15,000 fans ...... but no Monday morning coaching from me, I was just surprised at the AMG Merc ....

His penalty is no where near what he should have gotten! 10 grid spots - come on   . Might as well have given him nothing!! There is no room for that kind of driving in any form or level of motorsports. If someone did that in a karting series they would have been disqualified from that race and possibly more.

The FIA tries to make the cars and the series as safe as possible why don't they police driving safety issues more stringently. "MS is a down right dirty driver" - period!!

I agree with the sentiment here. That move by MS was totally irresponsible, petty and extremely dangerous. It deserves at least a 1-race suspension from the FIA. Serioulsy, at 180 mph he could get someone killed or paralyzed with a stupid stunt like that. It's something you expect from a 19 year old kid, not a 7 time world champion.

I understand MS is probably frustrated at his lack of pace, and likely more so at the thought of his perennial Number 2 bumping him out of the points, but that is no excuse for reckless, unsafe driving. I wish the FIA came down harder on him.

Now, after all this, F1 will draw even more fans, but the wrong ones: just like how more crashes in NASCAR always draws more fans.

Be willing to bet that Bernie and his band think that paying fans are the "right" fans and therefore there are no "wrong" fans.

Kind of like, "there's no such thing as bad publicity"

One more example of how real racers take a back seat to "the show".

I'm LMAO at the guy on Apexspeed who has spent 3 posts saying and explaining why MS has no compunction about potentially causing one of the biggest wrecks in F-1 history. I had to ask him if understanding equalled condoning in this case. Kind of like the asshole playground bully; because he'd done it before, and was expected to do it again, it was somehow OK.

Why is everyone in an uproar about what Schumi did when Vettel's blocking on Alonso @ Germany was equally dangerous?

No Sandro, this is not me liking Alonso in any shape or form but just bringing up a point.

Re: EQUALLY Dangerous?

Jack, are you comparing Vettel's squeeze at 60-70 mph on the start with Schumi's squeeze at 180 mph? If so, do you want to rethink/restate that? Simple physics shows that the danger level goes up exponentially with speed. And, a car may have been exiting the pit lane, in which case, it could have been a 3 car shemozzle.

Vettell may have been equally unsportsmanlike, but not equally dangerous.

In the end, I know Mikey doesnt' acknowledge or care about reputation or respect, but as far as the paying public is concerned, he risked and lost more (respect) with that move than he lost with one meaningless point.

Exactly! Vettell is talented and/or fearless (debatable) but still young and arrogantly enamored by his pole successes/looks. Schumi is a 7 time champion and he should know better. No excuse whatsoever.

I agree about the shumie push...RB came within inches of hitting the pit out wall.....And it was all about RB...shumie was pretty easy letting everyone else pass him esp when he was lapped by webber....ect........I think he wanted to kill him(RB) so he could never pass him again...douche move.

The safety precausions within F1 today, are much better than they have ever been. By no means do I support a wreck between Schumi & Rubens but both would have been safe.

The Vettel block may have been at slower speeds, but you still had a whole field of cars behind them that would have been involved as well. Now no one knows what sort of collateral damage could have occured but my main reason for even bringing up Vettel's block was to show that there isn't objective officiating within F1 & Schumi is a polarizing figure.

It's racing, shit happens. Schumi appoligized and we all should get over it.

I respectfully decline to acquiesce to your reasoning or rationalization regarding "both would have been safe" or "it's racing."
