F1 2009 megathread

LOL, yeah right, Hambone to replace Rubens Barichello.

And even if it was possible, he doesn't deserve it, not as much as Button and Barichello do, not by a long shot.

As Clint Eastwood said in one of his movies "... deservin' ain't got nothing to do with it." While it probably won't happen, Brawn, a British team, would pitch Rubens in a second to get Hamo, to have a 100% British line-up, which would all but guarantee ample sponsorship from UK-based companies.

Double Decker Bus is....

LEGAL!!!

Ferrari, please reconsider your position.... Like... Get some points in the bag first before you complaint about some thing.... You weren't smart enough to figure out.....

and to BMW

Keep telling your self the playing field is not at level when you have a much bigger budget than Brawn and Williams GP. Just don't built your F1 car like the way you built your road car... With check engine light on freshly out of the factory.

And to McLaren

Keep your chin up... and your nose clean. After FIA ruling, just do what you do best, racing... and build more cool exotic cars.... Try not to get caught doing funky stuff. You're not Beneton or Ferrari and have no Michael Schumacher in the car, you also don't have the poker face after doing something retarded!!!

And

Brawn GP, now the field is absolutely yours, and the driver/constructor championships are yours to lose. So... Don't lose it. Many of us are rooting for you and I want to see you take both championship this year, and lure Honda back in the bag to support you financially, so we can again be proud to see Honda back in the sport.

And finally...

I hope I win the lottery this year so I can send you couple of millions and have couple pictures of my ugly fat face on the side of your car...

Re: My, my, my

I'm very happy to know that my cards and letters (and references to this thread) helped them do the right thing.

Now we can get back to what's really important, like Jens being pissed off about Sir Richard eyeing his GF.

Loved this quote from Ross Brawn:

"The row over the diffusers has also led to intense confrontation between the rival factions - with Brawn GP team principal Ross Brawn being on the receiving end of attacks from Renault and Ferrari about his use of the diffuser concept.

However, he has stood firm in his belief that the design was legal – and confirmed recently that he offered rivals the chance to close off the regulations to prevent teams exploiting the diffuser designs, but they rejected the opportunity.

"In March 2008 that was offered," said Brawn, when asked by AUTOSPORT about the matter.

"If I'm frank I didn't say 'look we are going to do this diffuser if you don't accept this rule' because I'm not going to tell people what we're doing, but I explained that I felt that we should have a different set of rules to simplify what needs to be done.

"I offered them and they were rejected, so my conscience is very clear. And those rules that I put on the table would have stopped a lot of things. It would have stopped the diffuser, it would have stopped all those bargeboards around the front, and it would have cleaned the cars up.

"Because it was clear that when we started to work on the regulations that there were things that you could do, and we needed to perhaps clean them up, but nobody was interested. They are interested now.'"

So now it's not a fight of which team will win the CC but who is going to win the DC in the Brawn car. Jense, Rubinho, or Hambone? I think we'll see a revitalized Rubens in China.

It's not like you to troll like that...........that's my job.

I don't remember what site mentioned Hambone coming to BrawnGP but from what I have read, it is not a very credible/reliable one, yet people are eating it up.

It's on most of the F1 sites. But what really stirred the crock is Norbert Haug actually saying that Moon-Over-My-Hammy may actually, in fact, leave McLaren pending the result of the investigation.

Yeah it's on most F1 sites now, but I recall someone mentioning one site in particular that started this rumor.

MMMMMM another dennys fan:wink:

Re: Oh, the irony !!!!

Ferrari's lawyer criticizing Ross over the diffuser rules:
“Anyone with a command of English will tell you it is a hole, so do not let someone attempting to be clever with words defeat the express purpose of the rules,”......
ROFLMAO

Actually, RD stepped away from running the F1 team during the off-season and was concentrating on his role as CEO of McLaren Group.

The only thing new in this is his focus on producing road cars now.

It seems as though that McLaren is splitting into two companies; road cars and the F1 team. That makes it so that RD has virtually no involvement in the F1 team as it will be a separate company. That is a pretty big shake-up for the McLaren company.

Re: And if you believe that.........

The Bleacher report is for you.

while even worse, is the rumor that Mercedes may take over McLaren or pull the plug and just make Brawn its new works team.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/156529-brawns-cinderella-story-continue-after-the-fia-ruling

and why, really, did the FIA rule in favor of the Diffuser 3?

(rule #) 2) The ruling in favor of the D3 in a hearing shattered the seeming harmony among the constructors that once looked to topple the tyranny of Max Mosley and Ecclestone. The real plot here actually was the hearing it self. Without a hearing the big arguments among Brawn, Renault and Ferrari would not have occurred.

The whole incident leading up to the hearing was scripted to perfection to split the harmony. A ruling against the big brother Ferrari send the shock waves around. A big brother is always the figure of union. It is around the big brother that every lessor party flocks around to revolt. So if you beat the big brother then the rebellion is effectively repulsed.

:rolleyes::eek::rolleyes:

Maybe I'm just not feeling very conspiratorial today.

Button on top in practice. IMHO, Rubens has to win this race if he wants to compete with Jenson for the DC. He's got to establish that he's just as quick or quicker and he has to do it soon.

Some good shots of the revised Macca diffusor:

Re: Diffusers and Cheatin' bastards

to use Doug H's old phrase.

Man, I gotta get me one (a new diffuser, not a Cheatin' bastard). Maybe Hrant can get us a group buy.

The red cars supposedly were going to have new diffusers too right? Apparently they aren't working too well yet either.

It is becoming obvious with each race that the magic diffuser is an advantage but not the silver bullet. It's the whole package and Brawn's out front not only because Ross is good, but they also had 15 months of design time. And Adrian Newey designed the Red Bull cars; safe to say he's worked the new rules to a significant advantage without the magic diffuser. so, what's his silver bullet that the midpackers are looking at?

Re: Diffusers and Cheatin' bastards

to use Doug H's old phrase.

I think you and I may be the only ones on this thread (maybe docjohn too) that remember DH and the "Flamemobile."

My predictions for this weekend's GP:

- JB on pole
- RB for the win
- Weber in 2nd
- Hambone in 3rd

Re: Fingers crossed

You know something, have a strong feeling or just being a softy for the old guy?

JB going to have gearbox problems? It's his 3rd race on this box?

You hit the nail on the head. That gearbox is the weak link on the BGP. Unless JB really babied it the last race. Plus Rubens is going to be motivated.

We'll see though.

Re: Diffusers and Cheatin' bastards

Looking forward to qualifying in 30 minutes. Still trying to decide if I want to watch it tonight or tomorrow.

From practice it looks like Brawn is at it again (still great to see them doing so well) with Redbull hot on their heels. Rosberg has been showing a hell of a performance this year in practice, maybe he can translate that better to this race.

I really want Vettel to win, he is still coming out of his shell as an F1 driver, so the best of luck to him. I do hate to make predictions but I have to say that it is unrealistic to think anything but a Brawn (probably Button) will be on pole and that one of the two Brawn's will win. I guess we will see shortly.

The two step tire softness issue irks me and I really liked the statement during practice about how KERS shouldn't be in F1. I couldn't agree more.
