Colored 02+ NSX Headlights... what do you think??

In fact, in the game i saw the LBBP with color matched headlights...same as Orange, Lime green, etc...many colors ... i just didn't take any photos, but i will, of them all in track...in the showroom they look very dark, as you can see above.

Cool, i can't wait to see the LBBP.

The color matched thing makes it more exotic. I think the Ferrari's have that set up as well for their cars, maybe that's why it looks so much more exotic.

Re: Update !!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! You know which one looks the best, right?:)

Yeah that was cute UnhuZ. I must say I do like the colored housings. I won't talk about why Silverstones already have it. We all know why. But for anyone else contemplating it, I think its cool. It makes the headlight look more a part of the car. If I were to pry it apart, I'd just do the whole clearcorners conversion. Those LED rings look really sweet.

Painting the housings black like on the Gallardo or Murcielago would look sweet on almost any color NSX. Especially bright colors like yellow or white.

Re: Update !!!!!!!!!!!

Ya, the Blue one :D.

Bat™

 Welcome back Bat.

You going to do this? I don't want to be the first one  . I am going to need your new overlays in a couple weeks, be in touch  .

Anyone know if it is the complete housing inside that gets painted? And how do you take the assembly apart? I may just do this.

Hi Chris,

I would just need to take them apart, the car is already at the shop. I guess i could just get them to take the headlights apart but i can imagine how much they would charge. If i keep adding things for them to do it's going to cost a fortune and i will never get the car back. They have already had it 1/3 of the time i have owned it, and the other 2/3 was winter. :frown: .

If you are going to paint the headlight housing now is the time to get it pulled apart and painted, while the bumper is off. If you do it later you will need to remove the bumper again to get the headlights out. I think any good body shop should be able to pull them apart and paint them. Make sure they tape off the chrome parts on the housing, in red in the picture below.

I think Evodave quote me about $350.00 to paint the headlights; also ClearCorners paint and mod the headlight with LED too.

Thanks Chris, i will have to see if they have the bumper cover back on yet. I didn't know it would have to be removed for the headlight. I don't think i will remove it again if they already have it on.

HAHAHA LMAO!!! That was great! It sucks that all the silver guys have to deal with Blue being better...

Seriously though... pretty cool mod, and once I getmore time, I will be doing this.

I hope you all do paint your headlights because you don't deserve that ounce of Silverstone paint that was wasted on your NSX.

Ok, here's the deal. Two guys cut in line on me at the shop. A Bentley and a GT3 were in the shop today and they weren't there three weeks ago :frown: . So it is not to late to paint the headlights. Problem is the shop said they will not take the lights apart. They said they would paint them but i would have to take them apart. They are afraid of breaking the assembly. Has anyone here taken them apart? I am wondering if they would break easily. I am pretty good at working with my hands and making about everything but i do have a tendency to break things on occasion  .

Also, more of you guys need to let us know what you think about paint or not. I am still undecided.

i don't know the exact temperature, but i know if you heat them up in your kitchen oven, they just easily separate...then clean up the melted seal and paint.... now, i really don't know what to use to seal them again.

a friend did this to his civic projector headlights to paint the inside in black. the result was astonishing...

I think you will be the first one with LBBP headlight housing. If you are in a hurry to get your NSX back I would leave it the OEM color for now.

If you have time, you could pull apart the headlight and get the shop to paint it. It think the guy who painted my headlights, put it in the oven and then pull them apart. He used some kind of clear glue to put them back together.

IMO, the blue color would make the headlights stand out more like the new Corvettes. I was going to do my headlight housing in Carbon Fiber, but I would need to have an extra set of headlight to get the housing molded for the Carbon Fiber. I would have too much money in the headlights.

lets see, relating to the NSX style curvy fixed headlight era, i believe the 360 modena was one of the first to color in their lights, than the NSX-R, than the new C6's.
Its funny but true how similar the C5 and C6 is to the FD3S and NSX.

Chris, can you tell me if the guy who painted yours, sanded before painting???
Probably it's a dumb question, but want to make sure.

EvoDave did an awesome job on my headlights, the headlights were painted white, when ClearCorners did the LED conversion. He had to sanded, paint and clear the housing a different color. PM ARYNSX for his contact info.

Chris,

What about the areas in front of the other two bulbs? (1 shown blue in pic) Should it be painted up to the bulb section?

What do you mean if i am in a hurry to get the car back, it's been 7 weeks :frown: .

I have to make my mind up this weekend whether i will do it or not. Anyway the shop said they would try to complete by the end of the month.

Mike, paint only the area where there is white with LBBP. Leave the bulb section, tape it off and paint around it.
