2nd annual NSXPrime Canyon Drive!!!>>>Late May/Early June

I am driving up from the LA area. However, I am going to be picking up my navigator on the way. It's about 5 minutes out of the way past the 405/101 interchange so I decided to drive up alone this year. If someone actually wants to join me in picking up my buddy and continuuing down to the meeting point you are welcome to.
Last year, we met at a spot in West LA near everyone. I'm driving up the 405 from Playa Del Rey now.

We may want to get there a bit early this year for those who want to put on their decals before the drive. Personally, I'm staying away from putting a decal on my window that includes a giant NOS bottle. You know... just in case we have a run-in with the local authorities.

Damn, Ilya...I was specifically looking forward to seeing people's (including law enforcment's) reactions to your avatar! Oh well...

Eric,
I would be glad to put the decal on... under one condition. Would anyone like to offer to foot the bill, on my behalf, for any overzealous reaction by the local authorities.

Everyone should have their confirmation email by now. If you have not received morning meeting location directions, please respond ASAP(it was sent out to everyone who paid)
Questions? No problem.
John

Conrad,

You got mail ... lots of them... in 3 places.
[email protected],
[email protected],
[email protected]

I just hope that one of them will reach you.

So far, I got 3 confirmed and 1 may-be to caravan from OC. Then there are 3 more may-bes just want to join us to drive up without attending the canyon drive. We may potentially have 9 NSXes caravaning up from the OC/SD area. It'll be a lot of fun.

Happy to see that you can attend, I am right around your block, we can meet up and caravan together with my friend Lawrence (94 black). I have seen your Zanardi at the Sierra Acura showroom. That's where I purchased my 99 also. If anyone else would like to caravan from the LA area, please let me know.

Si
Yep, I bought mine at Sierra Acura last November. At the moment they got THREE on their showroom floor. It's worth checking them out...
About getting together for the Caravan to rendezvous point, write me back and tell me when and where I can meet up with ya guys!

Hopefully we can setup a quick meeting place and caravan up there.

I'm thinking the Sorrento Valley Rd Carpool Parking Lot next to 805N. Any other suggestions?

Please email me...

Please keep the meeting location for the drive confidential!!! We have limited the number of vehicles to 25 and we have gone a little over. Not to be concerned. It would be best to bring spectators to another event (such as the next Auto cross) since we have such limited space. In late summer / early fall the Canyonball may accommodate other NSX drivers. With the Prime Drive, it is a more intimate and smaller group that we prefer to welcome. We love people to appreciate the vehicles and see our cars, but this is not the best setting for that situation. If you have any questions email me. Thanks.

Cordially,
John

Just got my confirmation I'm in for the drive on Sunday. I'm new to this so I don't know how to get in touch with your group so I can caravan with you. Is there still a chance I can meet up with you in OC?

I just want to thank all that was involved with organizing the 2nd Prime Canyon drive! I was still able to make it home and catch the last quarter of the Lakers game plus over time. The Kings really messed up the last few shots didn't they. I still think that they played well through out the playoff.

John and Tina, this event was well organized. One of the best I've been. Thanks for staying at the end of the pack to make sure no one get lost!

Marc and Craig, you guys gave excellent front of the pack information for the rest of us. Craig, regarding the little run in with the law enforcement, I think the rest of us should help out with the ticket. I guess there is no way to avoid an instant on radar, not even with the V1. Hey, don't they (valentine 1) offer some kind of money back garrantee?

The elderly gentlement that I never had a chance to thank him for driving ahead of us to make sure that the road was clear.

NSXY for giving me a ride to listen to his Tubi. It's always thrilling as a passenger for a change. You were still at full throttle 10 yards before the red light. wow!It definitely has the high pitch and smooth tone that I'm looking for. Keep an eye open for a GruppeM V2 exhaust for sale in the near future.

The 7 NSXers that caravaned up from the OC area and the 4 NSXers that drive back with me, you made the drive more enjoyable.

I'm definitely coming back next year. By the way, I love that T-shirt with my Avatar and name on the front breast. Great job, Marc!

Yes, kudos to John, Tina, Craig, and Marc for another thoroughly well planned and executed event!!! Can't wait for the next one!

And considering what happened, I guess it was good that we didn't have our avatars on our cars

We also wanted to join in to thank John, Tina, Craig, Marc and friends for a great day of fun, food and frolic. It was great to meet all NSXer's and see all the cars. Thanks again! Where did that Mercury parking sign end up?

What a great day!
My first run with all of you. Special thanks to John, Tina, Craig & Marc for all their work. Craig did a great job in the lead, driving & radio at the same time (3 hands?).

I too had a great time. John, Tina, Craig, and Marc ran a great drive. I'll be posting pics up to some page probably by Tuesday. I've had to process them and make thumbnails, so it's taking a little longer than expected.

Greetings to all who attended and to those who could not make it and were there in spirit! It was a great day and everyone who came helped by making the event a great success. (outside of the minor snag w/CHP)
Of course you can expect a third Prime Canyon Drive in 2003 so we look forward to seeing all of you again and hopefully some new faces as well. Thanks to Randy Chua (& Zena), and Pete Wright for bringing the additional raffle prizes (Key chain lights, golf balls, shirt, duffle bags, car wax and Playstation Games!) Your contributions were an unexpected and appreciated surprise. Lee Richards (John's dad)was the older gentleman who was our lead car. He always comes along to assist with our events and is a great guy. Any suggestions or volunteers for next years event would be most welcome. Again, thank you all for being there.
Cordially,

SIMPLY AWESOME!

Thank you John, Tina, Craig, Marc and everyone for making this an awesome (1st) NSX ownership experience!

The only suggestion I can make for our NSXPrime Canyon run... let's make it quarterly!
biggrin.gif

THANK YOU!

The entire group thanks the sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible!

Factor X Motorsports- provided and printed the awesome T-shirts

Marc Weinberg (aka 9 lb.)- Created the avatars for your T-shirts, donated 2"Star Wars" and 2 NSX FAQ CD's, lead us thru the first leg of the drive with his great navigation skills.

Craig Kircher- Provided the picture for the backs of the T-shirts, created and printed the maps and driving instructions, lead the drivers meeting, raffle and 2nd leg of the drive.

Dent Works- Donated raffle prizes

...and last but not least

Science of Speed donated a $50 gift certificate for the raffle!! Thanks Chris!

We appreciate all the effort that went into this to make it a fun day for all who came to enjoy!

I also wish to thank John, Tina, Craig, Marc and everyone who helped put together and supported this amazing and pleasant event. Never mind the cars. NSX people are definitely a cut above the rest!

FYI, I estimate that 27 NSX's started the morning leg of the drive before lunch, and that after hitting hwy 101 S, about half that number actually completed the afternoon drive. Some had to go home and others had some law inforcement diversions.

For those of you who split off and were not able to experience the afternoon legs, I must say that it was TOTALLY UNREAL!!!! These roads were completely different driving than in the morning, and like nothing I've ever experienced, even after being born and raised in CA.

The afternoon mountain roads were extremely twisty and hilly, very technically challenging, requiring 1st and 2nd gears only for much of the way, with virtually no traffic in either direction for many many miles. The arid mountain and ocean views were positively stunning. It was an awe-inspiring experience to watch so many multi-colored exotics form a brightly colored chain that slithered around the rocky corners like a hot California Desert King snake.

I respectfully suggest that the next Canyon Run start with these mountain road legs, rather than end with them, so that fewer folks feel like puking their lunch and more folks can experience this beautiful hidden area of SoCal! Wow! What a drive it was...!
