Which is better hard top, or NSX-T?

I will say this much... it is waaaayyy easier to get in and out of the T with the roof off! That alone is a reason to get a T

Rolling windows solves 50 percent of the problem, not all of it.. but it definately makes a noticable difference.

I was able to stay warm in 40 degree F weather with the top off and windows rolled up with heat cranked... why did I do this? I wanted to show my wife the roof comes off the day I got her home !

almost 2 years of my NSX ownership and I think only once I have heard a noise or rattle i guess ... I think is more of a myth than anything .. seriously!

Well I wouldn't put the crappy roads of florida to be in the same realm as the crappy roads of new york. Our roads destroys cars, flattens tires, and damages suspension components if your not careful. I can hear the leather on my dash board rub against each other (makes for annoying squeeks ) under certain bumps and this is on a coupe!! I had to install the big ass Dali Racing front bar to tie the two front rails together to eliminate that slight twist of the chassis under the bumps. The T top would not stand a chance. Of course this is with a lowered NSX with stiff ass side walled RT615's on + 1 size wheels.

There are plenty of track rats with T's and we don't feel like the car with the roof on is any slower than a coupe...ie me,rso, peter mills, dave moore,......

I had a hard top and sold it for a Targa. I'm no track rat, but I do enjoy an occasional outing.... however, that being said, OVERALL I like flexibility in my weekend toy. The choice to go topless in the summer is always a bonus!

I hate how conventional convertibles typically ruin the lines of a car.... it's too bad there aren't more Targa cars out there anymore. What's left? Corvette and Lotus? Damn shame if you ask me.

Add a few STMPO bars on your Targa and you'd probably be unable to tell the difference between it and a coupe with the top on. Most Targa's cost quite a bit more anyhow, I don't know why anyone would waste their money on a dedicated track car when you can pick up a decent '91 in the low to mid 20's.

+1 for the targa. I like the coupe as well its just with the targa i can have the look of the coupe while still being able to take the top off and hit pacific coast highway in socal. I always liked how the corvette could take off the top and especially the supra. After I found out the nsx was a targa too, it came down to the 95 up and then down to the engine size which put me into a 99 or 2002+ and finally went for the more modern look. I dont track the car so the strength is not an issue. Plus, the girlfriend loves the top off. Girl in the seat, top off driving to beach, being seen in the nsx....I love it.

This weekend I rode in a coupe and a Targa back to back, and I can say the coupe is definitely stiffer. Less creaks and groans over New England crappy roads. Personally, I doubt the STMPO bars would make much of a difference, because I suspect most of the flexing is in the floor under the cockpit. Never-the-less, I would never give up the top down experience of my NSX-T. Go topless!

Oh this is simple:

If you want to hang out at the track and talk camber with a bunch of sweaty guys then the coupe is for you.

If you want to be surrounded by beautiful women begging you for a ride, then the targa is for you.

These coupe owners.... they don't like girls.

Sheesh everyone is all wrong. CLEARLY the convertible top is the best. Heck take the doors off too and go for the Jeep Wrangler look. Awesome!

hahahaha so true!

But in all reality, UNLESS you are a track junkie, otherwise Targa is better hands down. As they say coupe owners just wish they had a Targa since we all know Targa is better.

I rarely put my top on as the car sits in the garage with the car cover in storage most of the time. Only time I put it on is when the sun is too strong on hot summer afternoons to avoid sunburn. But then again I'm the type to actually put the top down on a convertible :)

Wrong. Read the chick thread for the truth behind this statement.

Targa is really nice when the sun is out burning my forehead.
I've driven an 03 NSX-T with less than 20k miles, and I did notice some squeaks, interior noise with some flexing. Get a 97-05 targa.

Agree with Ken, Targa or no Targa, the NSX attracts more dudes not chicks. I haven't been to a meet where girls swarm around an NSX. Maybe Corvette/P/F-Car.

Thanks DrV that's exactly what I was going to suggest. My dream though is a NA2 coupe which is stiffer than NA1 ,but with STMPO braces. Imagine a Zanardi with STMPO's...drool

What day did you bring your wife home?

Yeah, I agree..... the car is a total sausage-fest....

oh well, I still like the Targa. Feels good to take the top down, and people DO notice it a lot more with the targa removed.

Still, its easier getting in and out with the roof off.

I'll be in the market for a NSX soon, and I think I am leaning towards the hardtop.

As TURBO2GO so eloquently pointed it out, if you are into dudes that is definitely the better choice.

Turbo2Go also said "Silverstone is for b*tches" but he edited that out as not to offend anyone:biggrin:

Chicks dig the Targa!

Being a sportscar purist I like the coupe....

Targas are for posers and guys who buy expensive things for their cars and don't know what to do with it.....especially in Laker colors....Awww yeah!!

Coupes are for real men because women like it stiffer ;)

Both are nice though.....just depends on what you want.

Acura should have made all the Targas with Automatic and left the Manual to the Viagra tops.....

Haha seriously or just gave them paddle shifters......

I can imagine Dave saying in a Richard Simmons voice "Wow the weather is sooo beautiful, let me just take off my T Top and go for a drive in my pink sweater and tighty pants with my rainbow sticker on my bumper....calling all San Francisco NSXers...let's unite!"

And the Targas should be in flamboyant colors like red, orange, pink, yellow, etc.

Viagra tops are in business colors - white, gray, titanium, black.

Not at all a track rat but I have owned 3 coupes and one 1997 T. For me the T's cowl shakes, noise, and squeaks made it not feel like a high quality product my 3 coupes do. I bought the 1997 while having a 1992. The NA2 at the time was fun and it was fast compared to the coupe. I did not drive the coupe for almost 2 years so I sold it. Soon I found my current black coupe and having driving both cars alternatingly for a few months, I realized how much tighter the coupe was compared with the T. I started not liking the T even it was white. Sold it soon after. In 2003 Lud looked at then for sale 2001 coupe for me and gave it a go but I turned it down due to the camel interior. I missed the 6 speed so was tempted to buy a few white NA2 T for years but just could not do it due to the creaks and squeaks. Then the NA2 coupe came along and this thing is even stiffer since it has all the T's structural reinforcements while being a coupe.
Coupe for me.
Steve
