Where are all the Production deliveries ??

Incentives work, but what will happen if they drop them going forward on the '18's?

Every one of my Gen 1 NSX's (5) had BIG factory cash to keep buyers coming back. If they
didn't have it, would not have continued to re-up.

Excellent question? This would make selling the 2018's even harder

Was that happening near the ends of model years or was the cash on offer all year long?

My last NSX.....2005 GP white/ white - black #150 of 249 for the USA. Purchased new from St. Louis Acura 10/31/2005 - $89,765 MSRP. $10K from Acura
$5K from dealer. Flew in and drove home to Seattle.

Rebates would come and go, but for the most part pretty much all the time + unreal lease deals constantly.

Rare new 1999 #17 Zanardi sat unsold for months at dealer and eventually purchased it for $75K +TTL...they wanted it gone.

thanks for sharing - love that photo!

Another Canondale fan here :)

P.S. Been shopping around for a Casino White with Carbon Roof and haven't had much luck!

The weird thing is when calling dealerships, there is supposed to be a NSX "specialist" but in many/most cases, we seem to know more than these guys, what's up with that? A bit frustrating calling each dealership only to have to educate them on what is the current promotions.

Anyways if someone has a lead on a Casino white with carbon roof and FULL Black Interior, PM us!

thanks!

The specialists came from whatever pool of sales folks they had.

Based on the lack of sales action on the cars, not much motivation for the specialists to be up to speed, unless they are really into the car (like my sales specialist was and how my servicing dealer service folks are).

It is typical for car sales people to not know or care about the cars they are selling, they are low man/ woman on totem pole when it comes to earning power. Also to some it is just a "Job" with no passion whatsoever for their trade....JM2C....I could be wrong..

remember, most car salesmen are not car guys like the rest of us (even the NSX specialists). its a decent paying job that does not require any sort of education, just a drivers license and a drug test.

many customers have researched their next vehicle extensively, so there is a good chance that they know more than the average salesman.

Yes - thanks for always helping out with information! You are definitely an asset and not the norm in this community. But you can imagine as a buyer trying to start from day 1 each time is a it tiresome.

I had a vision of the movie ground hogs day except it was for buying cars with this post

Most dealerships sent their most experienced and knowledgeable sales associate to NSX certification. But as some of you have experienced, that person has either moved on from the store, or that store’s best was really the best of the worst.

I’ve been hearing and reading the same stories of ineptitude on the service side as well.

Sad. But I assure you that we’re not all a bunch of idiots. Just a matter of finding the right dealer.

The update

Sorry for the gap, Acura changed their phone system and you can't reach the NSX specialists using their dedicated number.

They wanted to provided a recommended price for oil changes but have held off, expect 2 hours of labor plus water the consumables run.
2 more cars have had minor frontal damage and need to go back to the PMC.
The car on Copart has more of a story but I cannot share.
Early purchasers have given them an ear full about the incentive.
Acura thought they could keep the incentive silent but the internet fixed that.
Folks that purchased within days of the incentive hitting were taken car of in some way.
Confirmed that there will be no more allocations. A dealer can order a 2018 for stocking but customer orders will be prioritized for production.
No idea how they will deal with customers expecting lower prices on the 2018s based on the recent pricing seen.
The NSX Specialists will call the 2018 customers for introduction.
Don't be surprised in Nord Gray goes bye bye for 2018 (too much effort for set up and clean up for the volume).
With the poor sales, there was consideration toward pulling the plug. Expect this to be revisited on a yearly basis.
There were customer requests for custom color cars and Acura said no.
He does not know all the nuances of the incentive but confirmed some dealers get noting.
The NSX Specialist is the one who got the steel rotors pricing updated in the system and it wasn't easy to accomplish.
He did not know about the recent Matt Farah videos.
They have noted that frequent track uses are experiencing faster rear brake pad wear than the fronts.
Acura is continuing to invite potential customers to week end drive events at tracks.
If the R happens, they will not get a preview.
Turd does want a version more like an update Gen 1 car (no hybrid)
I also let him know about the guy in NY who compared one to a Morgan 3 wheeler.
There have been a few folks making a lot out of the wind noise. One dealer replaced both door panels, replaced seals and added new insulation and seems to have addressed the issue.
My dealer said Cubs star Kris Bryant wanted to wait for a 2018.

I was the one who asked the NSX specialist to look into and update the NSX iron rotors pricing, They are really good guys specifically Lee (I have only spoken with him) completely different experience from Porsche or Audi they actually care about the customers.

Also I was one of the owners who made a big deal about the wind noise you could not even carry on a conversation in the car at 70mph especially passengers side it was bad. My dealer has replaced both seals and window run channels as well as insulated both doors and taken off and insulated and adjusted mirrors. This has completely taken car of the issue along with the door rattles caused by wiring harnesses banging against aluminum in door and causing dash rattle. There have been several cars that have had both door seals replaced as well. Overall though despite annoying issues i love the car.

I asked the Specialist to look into Acura providing an extended warranty for the NSX not some secondary company, He said as of right now nothing but they are looking into it and will keep me posted.

As for the owners that called Acura and gave them an earful about the discount if they wanted to REALLY see depreciation on their cars Acura could have stood by and done nothing when there were 200 plus of these things sitting on lots going into 2018.

Guess how that would have worked out for the value on their cars, they would have been worth less than 70k by middle of next year and the remaining would have been fire sales or auctioned.

The majority of the older owners don't see the big picture on this once they sell out of the rest of the NSX's and 2018 is just special order values will stabilize.

I believe they will come close with this incentive by end of this year as numbers are not accurate on auto trader and many cars that are sold are still listed. Hell my dealer just got rid of their last NSX that was $205k sticker.

porsche,

It was funny that just after my update (which included info about you anonymously), you posted your update on the wind noise.

Sounds like your dealer really tried to take care of you too.

Lee and Sergio are very nice. I think Lee has more info (he also owns a Gen 1).

I appreciate all of your posts and info It has helped me a great deal both with purchasing my car and keeping me aware of issues with cars.

I hope they continue this incentive my dealer says it good through Nov at least as it seems they have found the right price point to move all of these. The problem is the cars with all that carbon fibre.........

The NSX specialists are great guys totally different experience from what I was used to with the german brands.

Thank you sir

They do not expect to continue the incentive beyond November 30.

The problem then becomes, 1) what happens with the 2017s in the month of December and 2) how the hell can they move any 2018 custom order cars at MSRP once the market has been informed that big discounts were available for the 2017 model.

That there is the "slippery slope/ pricing structure", now what to do going forward....

I agree but i think their will always be discount on exotics, but it should help that 2018's will be special order only and Honda will be controlling supply and not flooding the market with over optioned cars.

It's common myth that exotics always sell at sticker price and that is totally false.

Most deals are done under the radar but most of these cars can be discounted. Of course knowing the right person and doing the secret hand shake helps :)

Limited production cars will always command MSRP or more but that is more of a rare oddity. Even the all mighty 720s can be had for discounts if you know who to ask. We don't think Acura has a bad product, they just had to stabilize the market which is what they did here.

We work on a lot of exotic cars at the shop and even those guys love the new NSX and respect it's power. You would be foolish to discount the new NSX as it's probably the hottest deal out there right now if you are going to spend $130-150k. $200k+ will always be dominated by the big name Italians and McLarens, maybe when the Type-R is released it might have a shot to compete in that area.

What about Porsche?

What about Porsche?

Not sure what you mean? Porsche limited production models (CGT, 918, GT3 RS) all command over MSRP and hold their value quite well. Besides the CGT and 918 they are really not considered exotics by most people....
