What is Honda F1's problem?

I wonder if any of these engineers that were let go by the ivory tower boys actually ended up at Super Aguri? That would really be sticking a finger in Honda's eye. I'm trying to stay upbeat by reminding myself how awful we looked at the 1/2 way pint last season, and then Button scored more points in the final 1/3 of the season than any other driver. Hope springs eternal at Honda F1.

Hopefully, the works Honda team can get the problem figured out and the situation turned around. Not to be able to do as well as the Super Aguri team has to be an eye opener for them. Blades, he's a very talented racer, that's for sure. All of that McLaren corporate grooming has him giving great post race interviews as well.. very refined and well spoken with the press and public.

It woud be nice if Honda had a similar driver as Hamilton; however, that's only part of the equation. They need to rework their entire package. Also, I heard that Super Aguri is using the last year's Honda Package. So, apparently there are many things that Honda has done since Last Year's car, that has taken them backwards. If they are infact looking to revamp this current car after Monaco, maybe they should go back to the package they had last year.

Back on Hamilton, you heard him with his interview after Bahrain. "There is only one place to go after this" he said with a smile, That being FIRST Place. It's an exciting year indeed! Three driver's equal in points ranking. One a Rookie, One Ferrari's hope, and the Other a defending Champion for the past two years. Yet, there is still Kimi Riakkonen! I may not be able to understand him when he speaks, but he is one hell of a driver.

Re: Kimi

there is still Kimi Riakkonen
I said it elsewhere, I'll say it here. He's a talented slacker. Doesn't have the work ethic to parlay his talent, rally the team around him and keep it going for many years like you know who. He'll have his 15 months of fame and fade like yesterday's news.

I could just about write the move script now. Let's see, maybe something like him being the reincarnation of Hunt the Shunt?? A striking likeness, wouldn't ya say??

Re: Kimi

What's funny is that reportedly Kimi entered some kind of auto race (can't remember...) and entered as James Hunt...

I like Hamilton, don't get me wrong, and I do think he has a lot of talent... but watching his agressive starts, weaving around, will eventually end up in disaster this season. Very exciting to watch, but as soon as a car doesn't give way to him veering around at the start, there will be pile up.

I want him to succeed but I also want to get smacked up in a big shunt to ground him a bit. All you need is one more driver like Hamilton in the front row with him and we should have a nice garage sale like at last years USGP.

With almost a month until the next race, let's hope that the practice sessions show promising results. Although practice is just practice, if you follow those times, they do show comparative pace and Honda had been struggling most of the entire off season.

Hey, a late start is better than never! I'm happy that Super Aguri is doing well, and if they are able to use a tried and true reliable RA106 chassis, so be it! Only the teams (Spyker) at the back of the grid would care...

I haven't noticed Hamilton's start being very reckless. He is a bold driver, but it seems to me he gauges the other drivers carefully before making a move. Well, we gotta a Loooong wait before the next race. Let's see how the season goes. Super Aguri, will be the team to watch as a Honda Fan for now, until after Monaco when Factory Honda makes their debut of their, by then, "modified" car.

Re: Oh, this should help !!!

Of course I got it here which is always good for a laugh. What's that saying, "if you can't be good, be dynamic?" or something to that effect.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Even so, this is embarassing.:frown:

Well, the level of embarassment will be gauged by the results...

so far they've moved up from the lower quadrant of the practice time sheets to about mid-way. I'd say it's an improvement... so far...

Re: OK, this view is much better

The Earth Dream has become an hallucination. Well, look on the bright side, at least these guys aren't designing the NSX replacement.

If Mosley lets them keep it. And if past actions are in indicator of future decisions, he'll get Whiting to kill the idea.

It's embarassing. Almost every other team on the grid can get sufficient downforce on the stability and Honda F1 has to resort to Dumbo ears to quell a problem they don't even understand.

Here's hoping their B-spec car is equal parts improved and less ugly.

lol, those Pokemon ears got them a second quicker per lap on Barcelona circiut:eek: Apearantly, they're not the only one who is trying out this new "look."

$10 says JC Whitney is going to be offering these as the latest in import aftermarket performance modication.

Hahahah very good investition!

Btw Honda needs Ross Brawn to get on top, they have one excellent and one average driver (but still OK and reliable one), so thats not the prob. Problem is the damn chassis...

It's

on

like

Donkey

Kong.

The first 3 races felt like preseason football. The Euro circuits are where the real racing seems to start. These three weeks seemed like forever!

Well, I guess you can say Takuma Sato scored a point for Honda.

Re: Takumo from zero to hero

Takumo........he was a zero 2 years ago and would not, should not have been in anybody's car. But the rumor I heard was that Aguri himself basically started the team just to give him a ride. Looks like Takumo figured something out or grew up one. Anybody got a better read or history on him?

Well 2 years ago Sato drove for the BAR Honda team. So Honda thought he could do some good after Villeneuve went to another team. But Sato has a big/huge temper and it shows in his driving style. You could almost hear him scream last year while he was driving.

But I don't know much about his history but I know he's a good emotional driver and gets a huge paycheck. He is one of the highest paid F1 drivers driving today. Makes something like ten times more than Ant Davidson and its all thanks to the sponsors.
