Ultimate NSX wheel guide!

NSX Prime name - TitaniumVtec
year NSX - 1993
Rim brand, and type - Volk GT-C
rim size f/r - 18X8 / 19X9.5
rim offset f/r - +36 / +37
tire size f/r - 225-30 / 275-30
BBK? if so brand - OEM brakes
spacers needed f/r - none
extended lugs? f/r - none
lowered? with what setup? - yes - hks hyper garbage
front tire rubbing? inside/outside - Yes/Yes Purchased rims and tires from Discount Tire Center of El Monte from a guy named Vick. Swore up and down that these wheels fit our cars with zero rubbing. He even send me pics of an NSX with these rims. Wheels were delivered and the front hung out past the edge of the fenders. Long story short, I had the front hubs machined 5mm to fix 99% of the rubbing on the outside. If I went with a 215 tire up front I would probably eliminate the rubbing on the outside completely. Tires rub on full lock on the inside plastic
tire rubbing rear? - No
if you could re-order your current set-up, what would you change? - I would not order them from Vick, and I would get the proper offset up front.

NSX Prime name - mickeylex
year NSX - 1992
Rim brand, and type - Fikse FM/5
rim size f/r - F: 17X8 / R: 18X10
rim offset f/r - (will need to look up and edit post later)
tire size f/r - F: 215/40/17 R: 275/35/18
BBK? if so brand - OEM brakes
spacers needed f/r - none
extended lugs? f/r - none
lowered? with what setup? - yes - Bilstein. Lowered perch.
front tire rubbing? inside/outside - None
tire rubbing rear? - None
if you could re-order your current set-up, what would you change? - I would not change the wheels at all. They are are a perfect for my NSX. I considered using a 265/35/18 on the rear instead of a 275/35/18 to reduce the front/rear stagger and bring it (somewhat) closer to stock, but decided not to b/c that would expose the wheel lip more.

spacers needed f/r: no
extended lugs? f/r: no
lowered? with what setup? no
front tire rubbing? inside/outside: none
tire rubbing rear?: none
if you could re-order your current set-up, what would you change? maybe a +38 offset for the rear

Malibu Rapper
1995
Brand/type: Mahdi Caesar TS-5
Front/Rear: 18x8/19x10
Offset: 34/40
Tire size: 215/35 & 275x30
BBK: No
Spacers: Front None/Rear 5mm
Not lowered
No rubbing
What would I change:

High disk setting for the rear to clear the caliper w/o spacer. I'm not happy that I had to use a spacer. The front gives me plenty of room for BBK but not a lot of lip so if you stay stock on the front brakes, you can probably squeeze more lip out of the wheel with a low disk setting and different offset. I also noticed that +34 is not a normally offered offset so it was custom.

I too ordered from Vick of Discount Tire in El Monte. The wheels were supposed to come in SMB (black chrome), he told me he gave me the SMB upgrade for free. Then when they came they were in chrome and he swore they were still SMB. He said the "Chrome" tag on the box meant SMB in Japan. I called 5Zigen and they told me that 18 and 19 do not come in SMB. Then I confronted Vick and he told me that he remembered I ordered them in chrome. Well, the chrome has grown on me. Silver just doesn't do it but SMB I think is still ideal. Dealing with 5Zigen is not a problem, they were very curteous. Dealing with Vick on the other hand is a pain, he still owes me 8% and I've been waiting over 4 months for him to order me a set of Bilsteins with that 8%. "Bilsteins are backordered," "out of stock," just a different excuse each time. I would not order from Vick again. If you do take your chances and buy from him, make sure you record all conversations...

rim offset f/r - (F) +42 (R) +50
tire size f/r - (F) 215x40x17 (R) 265x35x18 - Bridgestone SO3's
BBK? if so brand - No
spacers needed f/r - Yes, I will probably need a 5mm spacer for the front and a 15mm spacer for the rear.
extended lugs? f/r - Yes (for the fronts), but for the 16/17's OEMs.
lowered? with what setup? - Aluminum Koni Pro Suspension Kit
front tire rubbing? inside/outside - No
tire rubbing rear? - No
if you could re-order your current set-up, what would you change? - I would like a bigger lip for the front and rear. Although, I am very happy with what I have.

Tom,

Please update the spreadsheet to reflect my change in suspension. My suspension when I posted my setup was OEM. However, now I am running the same t/w/b setup with the type-r suspension from SOS.

Rim brand, and type: WORK, Termist TM-1
rim size: f: 18x8", r: 19x10"
rim offset: f: +35 (R-disk), r: +30 (O-disk)
tire size: Falken FK-451 f: 215/35/18, r: 275/30/19
BBK? if so brand: None
spacers needed f/r: None
extended lugs? None
lowered? with what setup?: Bilstein Shocks, lower perch
front tire rubbing? Rubbing slightly on the outside. No rubbing on the inside.
tire rubbing rear? None!
if you could re-order your current set-up, what would you change? Probably nothing. The rear wheel has absolutely no room for a BBK (which doesn't matter to me right now). The clearance between the caliper and the back of the rim is about the thickness of a piece of paper. The front should support a BBK, however.

spacers needed f/r: f: 3mm, r: none
extended lugs? none
lowered? with what setup?: eibach springs, stock shocks
front tire rubbing? rubbing slightly on the outside on hard compression and full lock
tire rubbing rear? none
if you could re-order your current set-up, what would you change? different BBK (probably brembos) as the calipers are thinner and the front wheels would then clear without a spacer, possibly eliminating the front rub altogether

Front: 17 x 8.5 +30 Rear: 18 x 10.5 +15
Front: 235/40/17 Rear: 275/35/18
No bbk as of yet...but should clear huge calipers easily...
No spacers needed
No extended lugs
Fronts do rub when turning, unless you have take out your fender well or widebodied...
Rears do rub when hitting a bump...same as fronts....
if you could re-order your current set-up, what would you change? "I would have to say nothing...maybe some 225's up front...but, if you're planning on wide'ning your X, this is perfect"

I wonder if someone could throw all this data into a queryable database. That would be way hot! Setups sortable by color, offset, bbk, etc. However, this is a great start to that end RP!
