The Fast & Furious filming in Miami

wse concern about its image because NSX is our pride.

as one of the kind exotic

should be your pride too

not to be a street car.

Your point on anyone getting too caught up in image is valid. However, I think what is alarming to many owners is the down side of attention garnered from exposure in a high-profile street racing movie. This downside includes, more scrutiny from the police, continuous taunting from other drivers, and more vandalism/theft incidents.

There are many concerned about image, but for very legitimate reasons. I think it will be interesting to see what actually makes it to the screen. I for one do not look forward more police attention.

Darkcyd,
so you are one of the whiners (Thanks for the spelling lesson. I assume that your SN meant to say Dark Side right?) out there that's too concious about the image of YOUR CAR... well, image is nothing. so if you are so into the image thing I have nothing better to say.

Some spelling is meant to differentiate a particular word from the norm. Others are mistakes made because the person didn't know any better. That's where we part roads.

Image is nothing? You've been drinking too much Sprite. Yes, image does matter. At least the last time I checked into reality. It matters for all of the reasons mentioned in the post above, and then some.

And you know what, if I didn't care about image, I would've gone out and bought a mass-produced Civic just to be like the rest of the crowd. I bought a NSX and you can be damn sure that I think it's in a class completely different from the rice rockets down the street. If you don't think so, it's a shame that you have one.

Try this, go ask any street racer out there to trade you his car for yours. Then try and take his car and find a NSX owner to trade you for the ricer that you've got now. Good luck.

Honestly I am happy in seeing a NSX on the big screen... I think that mass perception will not change since 99% of the population will not know what a NSX is anyway. For most people it is and it will remain the low-car/Ferrari/Corvette/expensive-car/whatever... so let's have fun at the movie and who cares about the young kids.

All right boys and girls here is the real deal on F&F2. Yes theere is an NSX, yes it will have one of the original charecters, Paul Walker ( he will be in the Skyline thank god), the NSX will be the villians car and no - It will be the one car no-one can beat. Granted it is owned by a drug lord in the movie - It is not being potrayed as the every day fixer-upper, it will be the car only the people with big bucks can buy. The whole thing is Brian loses his badge for lettingh dominic go, so to redeem himself he infiltraits a drug gang in Miami that is associated with street racing and to be honest, I am pretty sure there won't even be a race schene with the NSX it is just to be admired. So put your minds at ease and don't worry, the movie will be finished and released in 2004 and the only thing thta can happen to the view of the NSX's after this movie is that it is a beutiful car and that the resale will shoot through the roof. If you guys are wondering what the script will look like here is a link to the script.

Agreed. If that is the case, then it is about as good as we could hope for. Too bad it doesn't come out till 2004. That seems awfully far away.

One would think the financial backers would want the movie released asap while the import car fad is in full swing. Not to say it will go away anytime soon, but from a financial perspective.. waiting that long is just adding risk to the equation.

Gdfella, where did you find out this information? That site only tells about the characters.

There is nothing on the cars and what role they will be playing.

Not questioning you, just want to be sure, incase I want to brag to others.

My sorces come very direct. I have a shop and we were going to help build some of the cars, if they decided to ga that route , but I belive they are not going that route. they are other sites that are up that have some more info, I can't remeber them right now, but I will find them. Alos the reason that the movie won't release till 2004 has a lot to do with our wonderful government. Tehy do not want these movies to release for a little while till things calm down. the funny thing is that all of these kids have been racing since the dawn of time. My father steet raced and I am sure you or your fater did to. these movies have but a focus on it and our causing kids and adults to look for it now. Don't take it totally wrong, I do think some kids are all about the movie and being like them but I belive the percentage that got in the game after the movie is small compared to the kids who did it before the movie. the govenment feels if they waittill 2004 the kids won't care and police will e ready for it. Everybody wants something to blame though. The movie by far was the easist target. I do think this movie will be a fun movie to watch, I just think for small buisness owners like myself the date of the release will be to little to late. Buisness has slowed down and we need a jump bad, I love working on NSX's but the parts are so expensive and availibility of cash in this shitty econemy has everyone at a pinch. the automotive industry is a great way to boost the econmy but I guess after the first big rush I can't have my cake and eat it too.

The most recent Sport Compact Car talks about TF&F2.

The article showed pics of a shop that is building the cars for the movie. It also goes on to say that the shop is currently "building" the following cars for the movie:

1) Several NSXs
2) Several S2000s
3) Couple of C5 Vettes
4) Several samples of the orange Supra

It also talked about how the producers approached various carmakers for endorsement/funding/etc. Apparently Honda declined, and Mitsubishi was the only carmaker to want association with the movie.

That's about all I got out of the article while glancing over it at the grocery store...

I understand the concerns some people have regarding the effect such a movie might have on the public's perception of the NSX. However, if it's good for business and continues the development of the NSX, then it's all good IMO.

Frankly, I think FF2 will have some definitive impact on the NSX's resell value. The resell value of Supra TTs went sky high after the movie.

The shop that is building the other cars are shops out east, and they are manly cars they can trash and not worry about upsetting the owner of a nice vehicle. The reason Honda didn't throw love toward F$F2 was becaeu they felt they were over looked in the first movie. Or so I have heard through the grapevine, it goes back to the old saying " Screw me once stupid you, screw me twice , stupid me.

ALso I am pretty the street them of this movie will be omports versus domestic's so I hope they dont have a Vett or stang come through and beat one of these high end cars.

I just heard that the shop is not on the east coast but actually I guy I know in Cali who is really good -his shop is called Circlescan 4D and it is in El Segundo, CAli. Theyt have built 5 NSX's and 4 S200 and 4 of the orginal supra and 7 of the orginal RX-7 which if anybody was at NOPI or have seen that car in person, it is so unbelivable beat up. There you guys go, I hope this will help you guys out with your opinions of the movie, and as the previous post goes " It's just a movie" To belive that a movie can change the perception of a masterpiece like the NSX, then your as bad aas the ricers who got into the game after the movie , who don't really know anything about cars. I know you guys have more class than that.

As a Mustang owner and an admirer of the Corvette (and other sports cars for that matter), it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see a souped-up American car tromp on my beloved NSX. I just hope no car gets trashed in the process! Now that would be a real heartbreaker..

GDFella do you bother to read your posts before you hit the send button? Anyway, I still think it would be great advertising and could do nothing but inflate the resale value of the cars. I think the saying is, "Once a fool shame on you, twice a fool shame on me."

Whatever........

Thank god its coming out in '04! (Most likely summer I hope.

Still about a year and a half until I get my '95 NSX-T.

The saying is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

BTW, our fearless leader President Bush had a LOT of trouble delivering the above saying in a recent speech... for a moment I thought I was watching an SNL clip where they make fun of Bush.

Anyway...

GDFELLA: i agree... Honda did get overlooked in F&F1. In fact i didn't even notice it... But i'll re-rent just to c the Honda S is action.

EVERYONE: I think everyone would like to see the NSX in a film. (except those wanting to buy

...the disagreement is the TYPE of movie. Personally i wouldn't want the NSX in a streetcar movie, but something that shows off it's elegance, beauty and exotic nature... who else agrees???

" Have you passed a domestic lately? "

For months after the "F&F1" teenagers and latent adolescents were aroused at the sight of my red '93 RX7. "Hey, there's the car from the 'Fast & the Furious,'" they say. In time I discovered that the RX7 was a car featured in the first movie. So, if the sequel has a cameo role for the NSX, I'm sure we'll all be hearing, "Hey, there's the car from the "Fast & the Furious 2.'" However,
I don't expect 99.9% of these kids to drop $30-$35K on a used NSX. I do, however, expect an increase in street recognition, along with heightened admiration for our little world of discriminating car owners lucky enough to afford one and appreciate its talent and beauty.

By the way, does anyone remember the episode of "Seinfeld" when Newman fishtails up the street in a black NSX?

Larry T.

My wife bought me the latest issue of sports compact today.there was an article on the f&f2 in it with pics of three nsx two stock and the main car with the body kit.I saw that car on a feature of hi rev tuners and it looked like an NSX but in the current photo's you can hardly tell it has been so riced. check it for yourself.I bet thier will be people that dont even regonize it as an NSX. IMHO
