The Fast & Furious filming in Miami

Actually, I couldn't think of anything worse than Vin Diesel driving an NSX. If he ever drove an NSX over the edge of a bridge like in the film XXX... well... let's say "Hell has no wrath" Nobody trashes an NSX and lives to make another movie.

You forgot NOS. It is cheap and effective for what ricers do.

This is why I would have liked to see an NSX in Gone in 60 seconds.

To have also seen some real action with the purple Diablo.

And Geez... I just can't believe how can we make such a film without even thinking about including a Mc Laren F1 in it...

TO ALL OF YOU WUSSERS OUT THERE... COMPLAINING ABOUT NSXs WILL BE IN THE HAND OF STREET RACING PUNKS AND POTENTIALLY DEGRADE THE REPUTATION OF AN EXOTIC... I THINK YOU ALL ARE A BUNCH OF AROGANT, TOO PROUD TO SEE YOUR TYPE OF CAR IN STREET RACING MOVIES... WELL, EAT IT UP AND SELL YOUR CAR IF YOU WISH. JUST DON'T TALK CRAP... I WOULDN'T NORMALLY POST ON HERE MUCH, JUST THAT YOU GUYS PISSED THE HELL OUT OF ME TODAY.
I THINK IT'S A BENEFIT TO SEE A CAR LIKE MINE IN A MOTION PICTURE MOVIE.

96blknsx-

First of all, it's called the CAPS LOCK key. Turn it off.

Next, there's absolutely nothing wrong at all about a car being in a movie. I loved seeing the NSX in Pulp Fiction....most of my friends recognize the car most from it's appearance in that film. I think in that instance it was beneficial to have the NSX in the movie.

However, there's a big difference between a movie appearance that is "good" public exposure and a movie appearance that is terrible for public exposure. Personally, I don't think that featuring an NSX in The Fast and the Furious 2 is going to be very good for the car owners, the resale value, or this forum. And I am no wuss for saying that, contrary to your allegation. And I fail to see how that is "talking crap" in any way. One of the biggest reasons why the NSX is on a completely different level than your run-of-the-mill street racer is the community and the owners. There can be nothing positive about any influx of the "street racing punks" you refer to to this community. NOTHING. If that's elitism, then so be it. I don't want to have NSXs in my city gaining a reputation for the kind of behavior the street racing community already exhibits. I'm off on a bit of a tangent here, but it does apply to having out beloved car being trashed on-screen surrounded by a bunch of ricer racers and lawless, irresponsible driving. I'm not being arrogant by saying it.....I don't want to see NSXs being driven by punk kids in a movie that deals primarily with breaking the law in a very extreme fashion. If that pisses you off, deal with it.

As a new NSX owner, I am somewhat concerned about the image my car has and how it is perceived in the public eye. Whether it's true or not, a car featured in a movie like TF&TF2 will either be portrayed (unrealistically) as a butt kicking drag car or (unrealistically) portrayed in a negative light. Both, IMHO, are bad for the NSX community in general because of the movie's storyline.

yeah, like remember that car scene in 'against all odds'. the nsx in a scene something like that would be very cool. really though, do you think most people besides young kids will have an opinion of the nsx based on f&f??

I agree. It will only affect the opinions of some young kids and their opinion is probably wrong already. They will also not be able to go out and buy an NSX anyway. The NSX will remain out of reach of most of these racers so they can't rice them up and turn our exotics into punk racers, so I wouldn't worry about that. If the movie was about a decked out civic, you might see alot of kids buying civics and ricing them up but that won't happen with the NSX.

I would not worry about the NSX being in the movie. This is just my opinion but I don't think the NSX will have a very large role in the movie if at all.

Here is my prediction. The NSX will be seen in one or two scenes. If it does race...it will most likely lose. Now, if it does win a drag race...it will later be beaten in a showdown of sorts(or some other manner in which the driver or car is "spanked".

This is Hollywood. The middle class guy always wins. If you personify the NSX, it would be considered upper class(evil). Thus, the NSX will be defeated if it is in the movie.
It is more dramatic if the underdog wins. I am not saying that because the NSX will lose, no one will want to but it. Actually, I really have no point...merely an observation.

I personally do not know any ricers. However, I am going to go out on a limb and assume 99% of them know what an NSX is. I would also assume that that same percentage of ricers knows how much an NSX costs to buy, maintain, and modify. It is because of the latter point we see no ricers on this board. A late model Supra may cost 30k+(the same as a 91 NSX, but I do not think most ricers even have a Supra. Most of them have used Civic's that cost 8k. Add the coffee can, cheap aftermarket wheels, stickers, and neon lights and you may still be under 10k.

I'm not joining in on the argument... just trying to lighten it up a little bit. But I am being serious at the same time.

I think a cool role the NSX could play is as a police bust car. The police would purchase some NSX's to take the street racers down. It would be the only car that can do it.

... the NSX would end all illegal street racing and that movie would have no other sequels.

Ta dah!

One of the import magazine says John Singleton is going to direct it...what the heck? Maybe Ice Cube will be in it.

Either NSX or not

I think FF2 will not be as good as 1
FF1 is a hit
The cast did a great job
but the re-casting of the FF2 I dun think its gonna be as good as 1 anymore
film makers just want to cut some slacks with the heat of FF1

another thing is .
the FF series are focusing on how street racers ( obviously not that wealthy ) using what they earn and work for to win a race. A hooked up civic is the symbol is their hard work and pride. if someone gonna race with the NSX, then I think it is kinda meaningless. using high end car to do street racing? with other street racers? even if you win with the NSX, there is not much pride to gain with that compared to win a race with a hooked up civic..

Kinda outta topic..sorry..but you guys got what I mean right?

Acually if you read up on the next movie its not going to have any of the orignal actors, they arent doing it. There even thinking about not finishing it, yes its in production now, but incomplete.
Also, if you look under the list of actors that own the nsx " Vin deseal " is one of them..... Sorry to ruin your day on that comment, but he does.. lol

Some of you have already figured out the symbolism (nice work Edwardo) in the original movie.

If FF2 does make it to the screen (I hope not) and there actually is an NSX in it (I really hope not) then you can bet it will be a scene where the NSX gets dusted by a pimped-out Civic or something of equal caliber. Remember the 355 scene in FF1??

I have nothing against Vin Disel owning or driving a NSX.. its just the Character he play in FF doesnt suit a NSX. Not the Vin himself in real life..

Equal caliber... ? does that includes the boosted up NEON? which is pretty common these days around here..

That 355 scene was rediculous. If that supra was supposed to be a "10 second car", it would have blown that ferrari to pieces. It would not have been remotely close. And why the heck was the ferrari driving with the lights up? Knowing ferrari, they probably stopped working the day of the shoot

But, I agree. If there was an NSX, it would probably get stomped by a riced out civic.. just like Gone in 60 seconds with the porsche.

Viper Driver,
by this time, you would be able to see what others have to say about street racers' (BUDGET). I just can't see how those 16-20 year-old kids can afford to buy an NSX and trick it out to go street racing... even if they can, I don't think they would recklessly drive around town in an NSX. So at the end, what is there for (all the whinners) to whine about? I can only see the benefits toward NSX if it were to be in the movie.
Sometimes, reality check is very helpful.

PS. I do know that there's a CAP lock key... just that I want all the whinners to see what I have to say about the dinning and whinning.

Unfortunately, you're totally missing the point. The key word stated in ppl's posts was that the 'association' would be made. Not that there would actually be street racers driving around in NSX' with neon windshield jets, stickers all over the car, and non-functional gauges all over the place. The fear is that the general public will come to have that image in their head when they think of an NSX. Just as my image of a Supra went from a high-end sports car to king of rice. I don't think the NSX needs that particular kind of exposure.

So you can just take your ranting and shove it. I have my opinion as far as whats good for the NSX' image. Others have theirs and you have yours. Deal with it.

If you want to whine about others, learn how to spell it first. Whine = Whining = Whiners.

Like others said, the NSX would be out of reach for any punk kids which probably the next thing the want to do is add a two feet tall spoiler. Even an '91 average NSX is about $25k.

While Civics will be easily attainable to any kid at $5-15K.

Also remember that to do Comptech I/H/E on a civic costs 1500 bucks. Just the comptech header alone costs more than all 3 for the civic! That will also keep ricers away. The NSX is just not an economical car to mod, IMO.

I understand your points, but mine still stand. It IS an image thing to have an NSX on the big screen, and any negativity in that regard will hurt the NSX community in more ways than one. I'll make a prediction......an NSX in the movie will be either driven by a highbrow stuck-up guy (like the Ferarri driver in the first one) or it will be owned by a punk kid. Either way, it will get spanked in a race by a riced-up car. And, all through this, the constant theme will be that the NSX community takes part in these illegal and dangerous activities hand-in-hand with the street racers.

Is this the image you want to have when you take your NSX out for a spin?...... That you are a stuck-up guy who takes part in illegal street races only to get beat by Honda Civics? Sorry, but perception is reality for a lot of the kids who see these movies.

Nothing but bad will come of this, except to maybe have some cool footage of an NSX on the big screen. But, that will probably wear off when the storyline collapses about five minutes into the movie.

Again, all these are merely my opinions.

Chuck

Darkcyd,
so you are one of the whiners (Thanks for the spelling lesson. I assume that your SN meant to say Dark Side right?) out there that's too concious about the image of YOUR CAR... well, image is nothing. so if you are so into the image thing I have nothing better to say.
