whats necessary to get the shift lights to work?

Shift lights... You have to have a custom built light unit behind the gauge clutster. The parts are cheap, but labor intensive. You can take to EVO575GTC, he knows now. For now, I'm going to leave it alone, and live with the dummy stickers.

Latest Type R gauge replica

Peter at Downforce is going to feature my car at SEMA, so this is the latest addistion from him. He constructed a new CF hood for me, the mode was casted from my JDM Type R hood, check it out.

Here is the cool part, I have selected "hybrid CF in red" for the underside skeleton, sandwitched in the middle is Carbon Kevlar over the fiberglass. This is a one off hood, Peter did this for me as a favor, also to show off his work for the SEMA show. The standard CF hood manufacturing process is simple, CF over Fiber glass on both the top and the skeleton, therefore, there are four layers. I have an extra layer of CK, which make it a little heavier, but stronger.

The car is sitting at MV design right now, Mike Vu is going to smoke clear coat the hood and rest of the CF parts on my car, so everything will look black in the dark to match my Berlina Black. Check out the finish job on the Type R spoiler below.

FROM THREAD #28: Vance, are these pics from YOUR conversion, or is this OEM?

Those are the replica gauge. The maker is sending my the final prototype set to me this Sunday for final fitment, so I should have them by end of next week, once I have it installed, I will post some pictures.

This is the "one off" hood Downforce produced for me. The car will be at the SEMA show in October/November to show off Downforce Products. MV Design Candy-clear coated the hood today; the finish product is amazine. Absolutely no orange peels, and the surface of the hood shines like a mirror - It looks black, but you can acutally see the CF weave. The fitment is perfect. Thanks Peter and Mike Vu!!!

Nice effort mate, I currently have an NSX-R NA1 in Charlotte Green Pearl. I used to think that IMOP was the hottest color until I crashed mine, then it was Championship White. Now with my green type-R I am convinced that the dark colors look the best, specially at night.

Keep it up, your car looks great.

Cheers

Guys, today gotta be one of my happiest day!!! I got the Type R replica gauge set, and it is on my car!!! Took me several attempts to paint the rings, had to sand them down over and over to make sure they were done right. Wow.... Just two more jobs... Paint the head lights white, and JDM side margers....

Check it out, it is wonderful.... a bitch to install... for the love of the game:smile:

{sell oem red-seats to Osiris, sell oem red-seats to Osiris... -Vance's inner voice}

IMHO, painting the headlights gunmetal or silver would be much better than white. But, you are riding on white NSX-R 17/17 wheels, correct?

You're going to alter your OEM fenders to accommodate JDM clear side-markers?

The gauges look good, better than what I anticipated. I was expecting Atari pole-position like instrament console w/ techni-colour hues. These gauge-overlays & needle-coverings suit a NSX already kitted-out w/ NSX-R gear, no doubt.

I'm going to use the standard JDM side markers, which is basically the same one on S2k. It is orange, not white. The head light is going to be painted white to match the rims, it is a standard color treatment for any JDM NA2 NSX R. JDM NSX R can be ordered in any color.

The gauge is very... video game-ish, I love it!!!

Very nice! Tell me... Do the shift lights in the gauge work as well? And is the gauge cluster a one-off or maybe a prototype for limited production?

This is what I was referring to...

Are you going to get new fenders, or cut/patch your existing fenders to accommodate the smaller side-marker & their aft position on the JDM fender?

lol, it is going to be a patch/cut job. MV design is doing it for me next month. Same method as RyanITV and SerialNSXers when they did theirs.

I'm going to keep it orange instead of clear to match the original look.

cut sum cheeze, instead! lol...

Who was the 23rd president of the US?!?

You're a brave-man, splicing up Tochigi's finest...
