NSXPO 2013 - where?

popcorn.gif

Really disappointed I couldn't make it this year.

How far in advance do attendees usually plan to attend these events?

Really hope someone gets the ball rolling on a 2013 NSXPO. I have already volunteered to do 2014 for the new NSX release in Ohio. I am obviously not going to be local to the 2013 one but I would love to help if possible. I'd hate for there not to be one:frown:

Correct me if I am wrong but this years event did not look as exciting as others  from pictures (the scenic pics are mainly what was shown). The attendance of NSX's on ground seemed really low. I hope whom ever is planning on proposing has a location where nsx per capita is high and is in a very universal location for everyone. This is what has kept me from going other than scheduling during that portion of the year.

Vegas had a large turn out, I know any EXPO event in Cali would be large due to the amount already on ground. Ohio would be great for 2014.

The enthusiasm of the attendees is always high...the economy, gas prices ect have blunted total attendance in the last few years. Also the demographic of owners is changing as the car ages...these yearly meets that are associated with longer time and $ comitments are less appealing to the younger cars and coffea/import demographic.Still the overwhelming response from first timers is "heck why did I waite so long? ,and looking forward to next year"

If they did PO where the NSX capIta was high it would always be held in Cali. I like mixing it up every year all over the country.

You are wrong so consider yourself corrected..........

I have now been to 12 NSXPOs in a row - every one since 2001. Each one has been enjoyable and they are what the membership makes them. Over the last 12 years of NSXPOs we have had 9/11, war, the real estate bubble burst, bank failures, gas approaching $5 per gallon, credit card interest rates of 29% while CDs pay less than 1%, high unemployment and demographics whereby people come on here looking to buy an NSX for under $20,000.

We have had to scale back attendance expectations at multi-day events such as NSXPO while trying to increase the enjoyment factor for the smaller numbers who do choose to attend. Such is the way of the world in this economy where our pool of potential members is limited by the number of NSXs still on the road (a number probably in the low 6000s range).

We do not have the numbers of other car clubs because we do not have the production numbers such as Porsche, BMW, Corvette and other brands that may produce more cars in one year than Acura/Honda did during the entire run of NSXs. For example, less than 9000 NSXs were sold in the United States between 1990 and 2005. In 2011, there were 29,023 new Porsches sold - in that year alone.

We benefit from a very passionate albeit smaller community than virtually any other car club. We have learned over the years that we do not need 1000 cars to show up for an event for it to be successful. We have also learned that NSXPO needs to be rotated throughout the regions to give everyone an opportunity to be able to attend. That necessarily results in higher attendance in certain areas but success is not measured by shear numbers of attendees - rather we base success on whether the members who do choose to spend their hard earned dollars on an NSXPO feel they received value for that expense.

I admit that I am more than a little biased but I feel I have a right to express that bias - - - I have been to 12 consecutive NSXPOs and the friends I have made over the years at such events have resulted in my NSX ownership being one of the best investments I have ever made.

Thanks for the feedback Bob, in your honest unbiased at best opinion which NSXPO was the most exciting/memorable one and why? Every year I do plan out my agenda with having NSXPO apart of it but I seem to back out or have unexpected work scheduling/changes.

I do agree with the changes in scenery and do apologize to the Colorado folks if I offended them, not my intention.

Regards

That would have to be a composite of NSXPOs:

2001 Wisconsin/Road America - my first NSXPO. My first track event in the nsx. My first event with what would become my closest friends. My "escape" from the reality of watching the city in which I was born and raised and where I still live come under attack and result in the world being changed forever.

2002 - Texas/Texas Motor Speedway - driving a super speedway. BBQ and peach cobbler (those of us in the know understand that........)

2003 - California/Infineon - taking part in a canyon drive.

2004 - NY/Watkins Glen - home track. Elected NSXCA Secretary. Gave away the bride at the wedding of two of our members in a surprise wedding (surprise to all NSXPO attendees other than the wedding party) during our dinner cruise.

2005 - Phoenix - Watson Lake - Prescott, AZ.

2006 - Florida/Sebring - 500 miles of driving on Sebring. Banquet at the Space Center. Meeting Shigeru Uehara for the first time.

2007 - Ohio/Mid-Ohio - being the only camera allowed on the Honda Test Track.

2008 - Portland - coastal drive.

2009 - Toronto/Mosport - ignoring the local ordinances and taking 81 individual NSX photos on a public street - in a landmark area - during rush hour - without a permit - in 47 minutes - without getting arrested.

2010 - Las Vegas - using 142 NSXs to spell out "NSX" and hiring a helicopter to photograph it (HONEST EPILOGUE - no offense to the locals but I hate Las Vegas although the committee did make NSXPO enjoyable for me despite my total distinterest in ever wanting to go there before I attended this NSXPO and my total lack of desire to ever return - and I enjoy gambling but just hated the city)

2011 - New Jersey/New Jersey Motorsports Park - our region hosted and I needed this distraction from a devasting business year.

2012 - Denver - photographing an elk at 12,069 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park and having CNN pick up that photo. Spending time with Ed Klemz again for the first time in 9 years and having the pleasure of meeting his wife (who he met through his attendance at NSXPO 2002) and seeing how happy Ed is after settling down.

Lol Bob ,I missed not seeing Ed after 9 years:redface:

For those who are worrying about 2013 - there are a group of folks working hard at putting together an NSXPO for next year. Bruce Henderson and I are working with them to help with the process as we can.

As those who have been involved in the process know, it takes a while to put together the event details. Once they have enough information to present to the board and it is "approved", the location will be announced along with the dates.

Until then, you'll just have to wait for the momentous day when NSXPO 2013 is announced. In the mean time, perhaps your region wants to consider putting together an NSXPO for the future. 2015 is available and it isn't too early to start planning. It seems that 2015 would be a great year for it to be in the Western US again. Maybe some of you that have posted will pick up that challenge.

I will do all I can to help with Atlanta. Were shooting for 2014 in Ohio to coordinate it with the new NSX release. I did send a message to Ole last week because I was considering trying to help with a Florida bid.. But Atlanta is great too!

What? Thought we were pushing for 2013 here in the midwest, not 2014.

there are some special circumstances stated above that require 2014 to be in ohio.

Oh! So this is a done deal? 2014 WILL be in Ohio? Can we get someone from the board to confirm this?

2014 is "on hold" awaiting further input from Honda/Acura. It is no secret that the new NSX (should it actually go into production) will be made in Ohio so that should give enough of a "hint" about what 2014 hopes to be about.....

Out of deference to American Honda and Acura, as of right now we would be looking to take bids for 2013 and 2015 until further notice......

Wow you are really slowing down. Took you 1 hour and 23 minutes to post this? Slacker..... Don't give me this "I was in court" either, since I have exibited so much self-control lately, you should have plenty of free time now for true predicate fellons:D:D:D.

I am sure this retort will be good:):):)

Sorry to highjack the thread with our fun guys....
