NSXPO 2013 - where?

anyone thinking about doing the school should....don't let not owning a helmet stop you.....the track event is a very rewarding experience and the instruction is very much geared to the novice/nsx owner. We know you are there for the event not just the track ,and try to maximize the fun while minimizing the stress/anxiety.

Exactly............you can NEVER learn to much and when you think you know it all, you actually know so little. Track driving (riding) hones your skills and makes you that much a better driver (rider) on the streets. You can't beat the adrenalin rush!

Wait what? This response confuses me. I don't think anyone was saying they might not track because of a "know it all" mindset.

That being said even without ever tracking I'm pretty sure track driving doesn't correlate to street driving as they are polar opposites and if you drive on the streets like you would a track I would think that would be 100 times more dangerous for you and everyone around you than driving on the track like you do the street. --at least in a passenger vehicle... I can see maybe on a crotch rocket the track can teach you a few more defensive techniques...or let you practice taking the clover leaf exit with a knee 2" inches off the ground for the cool factor.

Anyway at this point I fully intend to participate during this years track event. Can't imagine passing it up... Dream car, dream scenario.

Actually, track training does make you a better street driver. Learning car control techniques at track speeds will improve your street driving at lower speeds. It doesn't take much to lose control of a car on a curve in slippery conditions but the skills you learn on the track are easily transferable to everyday street driving. The first time I ever lost control of a car was when I was in the Skip Barber Racing School and lost it in the left hander at Lime Rock at over 90 mph in a formula car. When I was brought into the pits (no contact, just 4 wheels off into the grass) my instructor told me that I could have saved the car and explained how. With the extra training about keeping eyes up and ahead and looking in the direction I want the car to go while spinning I have had many "saves" on snowy days in the Northeast in a street car utilzing CPR - - - "Correct, Pause, Recover".

okay...objection withdrawn. I'm sure we can all learn something from track driving, I was thinking more aggressive but you are right. But you don't necessarily have to spin off the track at 90mph to learn the lesson of CPR on the streets, you just have to be cognizant of your surroundings (weather conditions, other cars, street conditions, anticipated trouble) at all times. Our conditions here can be just as froggy as yours, and there's no substitute to staying as clam as possible when things dont go as planned. But again, my objection is happily withdrawn.

not to whip the proverbial dead horse....street driving can be such a mundane chore,we forget what it is we are doing.....If people concentrated on the task at hand like they are forced to do on track the streets would be a much safer place.

Also you may be able to get an insurance discount. USAA gave me a discount for "professional driving training" a few years ago.

Yeah, but to be fair.. people on the track arent talking on the phones, listening to the radio, staring at people walking on the street,...at least we hope not!!!

That's true. But some of us can't seem to avoid taking advantage of photo ops while on the track......
