NSX-R 24h race car

Detlef,

I was thinking.
Perhaps it would be an idea (maybe after the race) to sum up all the modifications made to the NSX-R for the race with the reason why the parts or settings where changed.

Something like (for example):
'We replaced the OEM shocks with Bilsteins shocks' because it was found that the OEM shocks where not stiff enough to handle the unsprung weight with the heavier Movit brakes installed'.

It think it might be very interesting for all NSX-drivers to read about this, especially since so many of us are interested in modifying their cars.
It might even be an idea for NSXCA-driver magazine.

News about NSX-R

Honda engaged a professional driver for the 24h race.
The woman dont race, because she's too slow.

Markus Oestreich (an ex Formula 3000 and DTM driver/AMG Mercedes-Benz ) can show the other guys, what lap time is possible with this car at the Nürburgring.

Actually the NSX-R needs some modifications at the Movit brake system, because the rear rotors grinds the lower suspension arms if the dampfer moves down.
Also very difficult to find is the right setup of the dampers and springs. Actually the system has too much deflection.

During the last race, the NSX-R was touched at the rear side.
Seems that it was a hard crash (the driver dont remember !!!!) because the complete rear fender, the exhaust pipes and the diffusor were damaged.
All parts will be replaced. A new DaliRacing cf diffusor prototype with the LM GT car style will be installed at NSX-R.

I'm very exciting at the live TV-coverage with the inboard camera at the car. (DSF will install this camera in 5 race cars.)

The most powerful car at the race will be a Porsche GT2 with biturbo engine (Alzen Motorsport) and 700 HP.

The most important thing will be the rear-view mirror.

Do you think I should take my CANON with me ?

Detlef,
Yes, I think you should definitely bring your Canon with you. Since a lot of the guys will be at Magny-Cours then it would be nice to see some pictures afterwards.
And of course, bringing the camera and not needing it is not as bad as needing it and not having it with you ;)

NSX-R

Any european NSX owners plan to come to the race ?
But I know that at the same weekend most of these guys are in Magny Cours at the Trophy races.
Thats all very funny.
I plan to come to Spa-Francorchamps to meet all the guys from last year.
Some german NSX owners will be at the Nürburgring.

If someone of you have a special wish what I have to photograph, please tell me.

Detlef,

It's wonderful news to read there's gonna be another NSX as well. 8100km testing in 8 days, that's a 1000km every day.
They must have changed their oil many times over by now ;)

Well, I certainly hope both of them will finish high up in the end and will not crash or otherwise will have to withdraw.

I will keep my fingers croshed !!

I forgot Dali doesn't manfacture parts. They just sell them, so the real credit should 2 those special manufactures who made them. Guess the D word is of no importance and that's why I saw no representation (STICKERS) on the NSX-R.

haha - nice. you are so clueless it is beyond imagination.

I just saw one hour of race report on DSF (German channel)... the two official BMW M3-GTR broke down in the first lap! :D
You have to see the face of the BMW spokeman on TV... eh eh... good for them that the Schuhmacher on pole in Monaco is not Michael but Ralf today! ;)

Then no NSX... the Porsche and the Vipers are doing well... drunk people between the 200'000 presents... brazilian girls dancing :D ... no NSX ...

And suddenly? An helicopter start sending images of a white NSX-R! Yes, the one of this thread! I jump like a crazy (and as usual my GF that try to catch me and keep me down! ;) ).

Then: CAMERA CAR for at least 5 minutes! Too bad the car was passed by some upper category vehicle and it did not pass anybody. But it was good anyway! Let's hope that the NSX gets more coverge in the next hours and a decent result at the end!!!

Back again from the race.

Spectators: 184.000 and milliond at TV (DSF)

During the last weekend I was guest from team no. 33
the NSX-R from sport-auto and GS Motorsport

The car cames to the track in perfect condition, also a complete
T-car. ( I drove it 3 times....)
The team around Georg Severich is very very professional,
they did a perfect job.

The NSX-R finished the practice at 35 th position, lap time 10.12.739.

The NSX-GT from Altschach (ex Kremer car) was at 17 th position, lap time 9.43.105.

The race started saturday 3.00 pm and the NSX-GT stopped after lap 1 . The Altschach guys couldnt repair the steering problem,
the car was out of the race. (No spare parts)

The NSX-R raced without any problem and was placed at the follow positions:
After:
1 hour: 32 th position
2 hours: 30 th position
3 hours: 19 th position
4 hours: 21 th position
5 hours: 17 th position
6 hours: 16 th position
8 hours: 11 th position
10 hours: 12 th position
12 hours: 9 th postion
14 hours 12 th postion
16 hours: 10 th postion
18 hours: 10 th postion, in front some DTM cars and some with much more power.
Best position for low mod. car, fantastic, incredible.

Than the car was launched from another, slower car at track part
Metzgesfeld..... at 4 th gear with 130 mph.
The car drived into the crash barriers.
The right front and rear suspension was damaged, also parts of the front and right fender.... and many more.

The car came back after 30 minutes slow driving, completly warped like the german TV showed.
The TV reporter said its unbelievable to drive with such a damaged car... but the NSX-R did it.

The guys from GS Motorsport changed all damaged parts in ~ 2 hours, after the repair the NSX-R was as quick as before.
Sensational job, but the superb position was gone.
We all had tears in our eyes.... but thats race too.

So the car finished at 42 th postion.
After the race, 6 of the japanese managers(from HONDA Germany and Japan) invited us to the Motorpresse VIP lounge and resumed this event.
An affectingly speech.... and again with some tears... this guys were really impressed from the professional job and team.
It seems that they will come back into the next year.

Also the most of the spectators falled in love with the NSX, a big show from the best street car at the track.

I'm very proud that it happened right in front of my eyes.

Detlef, do you know if it's possible to buy this black polo ? :D

No chance to get one at the moment
Sport-Auto let produce a limited edition, but they are out, maybe they have some more in Stuttgart.
I got only 1 shirt for me too.

The guys at the picture are:

left:
Horst von Saurma-Jeltsch (sport-auto chefredakteur)
the man drived the NSX-R at the supertest in 8.01 minutes
round the Nordschleife.

right:
Georg Severich, GS Motorsport teamchef and racing driver
at belgian Procar GT series.

I try to phone with Horst and ask for some shirts...

Some more details:
The DaliRacing parts like steering wheel hub, sway bars, cf air intake funnel, cf airbox, cf fender scoop, cf side vents and cf LM-diffusor survived the torture without problems, the cf vents even the crash.

After 12 hours, the mechanics changed the BREMBO rotors and the brake pads, no other screw (without the crash) was turned over the distance.
The engine only needs 1 Liter of Castrol RS 10W60 during the whole race, after 16 hours the yellow brake lamp in the middle of the dash showed that some brake fluid is necessary. Easy job.
Oil temperature was 120°C, gearbox oil temperature 92°C
and water temperature 80°C.
Gasoline consumption for 1 lap was ~10 liters,
thats 40 liters for 100km/160miles.

OK, if it doesn't work, I will upload it again on my site tonight !

Detlef,

Many many thanks for posting the results of the NSX-R.
I am very very sorry to read about the accident that spoiled the excellent position of the NSX-R. Maybe without the accident the NSX-R would have climbed even further in the ranks. Who can tell what could have happened then. But as you say, that is racing too....

And other people keep telling us the NSX is such an old and outdated car !!!

And yes, I am proud to that the car (and drivers) did such a good job in the race. And too bad for the NSX-GT in the race. Would have been nice to have two NSX-es to finish it.

It works! Thanks! :D

PS: but no sound? With PC we also generate movie with sound... it is no problem though! ;)

That's true ?????

I removed the sound because I thought the PCs were only able to generate a "beep" sound ! :D :p

My AdLib generate all kind of FM tones! And next year I will add the SoundBlaster or the Gravis Ultrasound to my PC!!!

PS: you probably do not know what I am talking about (Neo, does!) but you are kind of right joking about PCs... :)
