A Note to all NSX owner's , If your car is more than 10 years old REPLACE your injector top orings, to the rail and lower seals to the manifold . These orings fail and leak W/O notice. I have GOTTSPD's car here at my shop ,a Pristine 1992 with Low miles and the orings were DEAD. Who needs a fire , Right!!!

About eight years ago I had an engine fire because of an O ring failure. It happenend in the pitlane while coming back from my qualification lap on the circuit of Dijon in France. A few moments earlier and my NSX probably burned down to the ground:eek:

i just order all of them... 2 for the intake manifold side and 2 for upper side for each injector...arround $30 for all 6 injectors

Did you order them in the US or in Europe? If later is the case then $15 would be sufficient. :D
Could you supply us with the parts no.?

Could it be (according to http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray...y5=FUEL+INJECTOR+(1)&ListAll=All&vinsrch=no):

002 16472-PH7-003 SEAL RING, INJECTOR 6 1991 NSX
003 16473-P10-A01 RUBBER RING, INJECTOR 6 1991 NSX
or
003 16473-PD6-000 RUBBER RING, INJECTOR 6 1991 NSX
017 91301-PM7-003 O-RING (7.3X2.2) 6 1991 NSX

Maybe also the washers for the fuel pipes:
016 90428-PD6-003 WASHER, SEALING (12MM) 6 1991 NSX

What the difference in the part no. of 003?

About $56 in total with part 016.

i searched also for part numbers...i and found out that exactly problem...
2 of the 4 orings are the same for 91-96 and 97+... but for the 91-96 NSX there is 2 part numbers as you stated above...

so...as my parts guy (MJ at Dali) already have my VIN (and VIN don't lie about which parts)...i just asked him...he said that is suppose to be a kit with all of them together but he would go check that out...

i'm waiting for his email... there are other items i ordered that are a little trickier to get

As soon as i have more info...i post it here

Any tips for pulling out the injectors?

I believe their pretty much like all injectors. Remove the fuel rail on top and they should lift out with a little tug.

Don't remind me of the nightmare I had 10 years ago changing them in my daily driver. :)
Some input would be appreciated.

1991-1994

16472-PH7-003
16473-PD6-000
16474-PH7-000
91301-PM7-003

1995+

16472-PH7-003
16473-PD6-000
91302-P0A-A00
91301-PM7-003

All OBDII system have a different idle air curcuit, which is why the 1995+ seal is different as it mounts to the manifold.

Above pertains to MANUAL TRANSMISSION cars. It may apply to Auto's, not sure.

BTW: The -003 suffix is the version of the part, so it was updated 3 times since new:).

Kits are designated by a -305 suffix.

Slightly off topic, but while you're replacing these O-Rings, how could one tell if an injector is functioning the way it should be? My engine is idling very oddly and was thinking of having this done and checking all the injectors, spark plugs, coils etc... (waiting for delivery of my service manual) thx

Hey describe oddly? Is it missing at idle? Loping?? I have found that EVERY NSX to come into my shop , even ones witn 7k miles NEED a proper valve adjustment, I always find them toooo tight which will affect idle quailty and overall performance and can damage the valve seats if left unchecked . Yea its lobing a little bit .... other than the fact that it dips to 100-150rpm after I take it out of gear... which bugs me (ive been told that could be a dirty TB gonna get it bored out and or cleaned soon)...

Then when I'm sitting at a light and the engine is warm, the idle seems to lob between 700-800rpm... not sure if its hunt mode or what... but yea the car needs the timing belt changed and valves adjusted by now im sure... not looking forward to that gigantic bill.

When inspecting the orings I find they are deteriorated and weak , almost spongy, FLAT, and tear if you look at them. Compared to a new one , which are round on the edges, very pliable and resilient to fuel and heat, which over 10+ years causes the problems. It's best to check them before they leak. I replace them on All high mileage Honda 's and Acura's that come into my shop as normal maintence.Funny the cars that actually "LEAK" and you smell fuel for me has been 90 to 93 accords!!
I do send many high mileage injectors to RC engineering for rebuilding and flow rates before and after cleaning, with fantastic results, cheaper than buying 6 new ones.
I plan on writing weekly now with tech tips and info to keep are NSX's safe and happy ,due to some newly found health issues ,I'll be less in the shop and more here on Prime to help out till I get better. anyone needing any help or parts feel free to contact me .
We are very fortunate on prime to have some TOP Notch techs like Larry B from Ny and myself to help out and we enjoy doing so ...
