Neo's Models

Peter,

No doubt you're a big car model collector, it appears you're also a Macross fan, too. My personal favorites are the YF-19 and YF-21.

P.S. That poster of Vivian Chow must've been there for ages :D

Damn, that's a nice collection Peter! That is an incredible amount of time and money invested in NSX models, very cool. Thanks for sharing!

Hey cool, another Macross fan! I waste a lot of my free time at this other forum:

http://www.macrossworld.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi

Their homepage is www.macrossworld.com

It's a well organized, very informative site with some very knowledgeable members. Check it out. My sine there is also just plain "peter"

I was really hoping nobody here would recognize that poster of Vivian......I haven't changed anything in that room since highschool (about ten years ago!). How embarassing.

It's not an investment, it's a sick obsession to hoard every NSX model I come across. My worst weakness is the 1/24 scale Tamiya NSX-R. I can't let any available kits fall into the hands of anyone but me.

Thats a nice collection you have there. (Sick, but nice).

Are the Castrol and Mugen models you have there 1/18 scale models. I would be interested in something like that.

Where can I find those models?

The Castrol and Mugen NSXs are 1/24 scale....they look big in the pictures though...the only 1/18 scale toys I have are the Kyosho ones.....

ROFL.... sounds like you and PhoeN$X have a common obsession. :D
I can't get NSX models here in Australia because you two are buying them all up! :p hehe.....

Peter,
Amazing collection of NSX models! Never seen anything like it. So your the reason why I've been having so much trouble finding NSX toys? Just curious, how much $$$$ have you spent on your collection? I'm thinking just as much as a healthy down on a 1/1 scale NSX huh! :D

i can't believe i'm missing all this fun.

peter, that's the most impressive set of models i've seen up to date. i love the JGTC NSX models you've built....can't wait to see some of your other works.

i had a friend that was with me when we were in taiwan. he bought tons of models there (much cheaper) and brought them back here. he charged about $50 to built one for his customers.

do you own a model shop?

I have no idea how much I spent on my models and toys and to avoid responsibilty, I never want to think about it.

Blue Knight, are you from Taiwan? I haven't been back for over 15 years and I'd like to go sometime. I went to Hong Kong in January with a friend of mine and we each brought back two suitcases of models and toys. They're cheap, but to tell you the truth, Japan had comparable prices, if not cheaper. I don't own a model shop but my room is starting to resemble one!

I've got an Imola Orange type-S, but it's not for sale....I put some work into it that I don't want to part with. I fixed the ride height so it doesn't look like the front is higher than the rear like all Kyosho NSXs.

As for the rest of my collection. I start work late tomorrow so I'll have some time on my hands in the moring. I'll try and get some pictures posted tomorrow.

has anyone tried repainting a 1:18 diecast model? i've got a few red and black 1:18 NSXs and a bottle of monte carlo blue paint left from the body work of my NSX.....i'm wondering if i should experiment.

Painting it can't be that hard. I don't see it being harder than doing a 1/24 scale plastic model....you just have to strip the car down (don't get lazy and just do a mask job) to the metal parts, sand it down, paint and clearcoat. The thing about the good finish the way to polish the clearcoat...

thanks for the tips....one of these days i just might do that.

i guess i'll need to get a bottle of clear coat when i do.

Yes, don't be shy with clearcoat. Dump it on...just cake on lots of it because it can always be polished down..

If you want to learn some wicked techniques on builing car models, you have to check out this guy's website...I learned so much from him:

http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd/scalemodels/

I used to mess with the 1:24 static kits until I came accross the die-cast models. I have a closet of 1:24 JGTC NSX's unbuilt and some regular NSX's too. Gotta love em..one day I will build them but umm..no room right now..hehe...

Yeah, the 1:18 cant be too hard to repaint once you break em down. Hmm....peter, did you customize the suspension without compromising the model itself? One thing about the Kyosho NSX's is that they rarely look right...riding all jacked up and sometimes crooked wheels out the box. What did you do to yours?

If anyone collects the JGTC 1:43 models, I do have an extra Arta NSX by Nikko in 1:43 that I will sell for a non escalated price. Its an excellent addition to your collection. Actually, Spartan or peter or anyone, if you have a 1:18 scale Revell red/black NSX and a black/black one, I will trade you. I know Revell is cheap but its all about the collecting, not the overall price unless it were Kyosho..heh.

Nikko? Never heard of that company...their product looks good though.

Hey Teej. When I altered the suspension, plastic was cut and sanded and ground away, but the model is not butchered. The wheels still spin and the front wheels still turn.

After I get home from work tonight, I'll be posting some pictures that I took this morning so I'll try and shoot some underside pictures of my 1:18 scale Imola Orange type S.

Ok, I finally got some comparison pics of the Kyosho 1:18 scale NSX.....my modified type S and a box stock '97.
