Wasn't this NSX totalled out by an insurance company due to a rollover incident?? If so, how has the title become "clean".

More pictures can be seen by going to www.autobrokersintl.com and searching for Acura.

Yup. That was a yellow NSX that rolled over on a Mt. Palomar run here in San Diego.

My today's email w/ Ecocar is shown in the following passages:

Me: I came across your Yellow 2000 NSX-T for sale for only $55K. I am very interested, but I need to know if it has been wrecked. RSVP.

Andy: Yes, this car had some minor damaged but is fixed perfect.

Me: Thanks for the prompt reply. Was this car ever salvaged and the title cleaned? What is the VIN?

Andy: (Salvaged] YES/minor damage to quarter panel and targa roof panel. [Cleaned title] YES [VIN] #JH4NA2169YT000265

Thus, it appaers that this is not the Mt. Palomar rollover.

Am I missing something here? Didn't you just post the VIN from Ecocar as being #265? Didn't someone post the VIN of the Palomar rollover as being #265?

Uhps! Bad typos! Above I meant to write: "Thus, it appears that this IS [NOT "not"] the Mt. Palomar rollover." Sorry guys....

yeah that was my car... upside down and all. They never sent me my sway bars back either =(

It had ~5500 miles on it at the time of the crash. Who knows now. If anyone is actually looking at this car as a purchase I can send you the quote from the body shop to fix it before it was declared totaled so that you know what was wrong with it.

This car for sale on e-bay under http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1842730531
The pics shown on e-bay posting are not of the actual car for sale and the guy selling says he's an agent for a party in Florida - he just mailed me the pics of actual car (same as shown above, same junk in background)
I told seller he should put disclaimer saying not pics of actual car but he has failed to do so; seems like we know why the real seller can't list directly, huh (always a little suspicious don't ya think)

I just got done looking at that car and couldn't believe it was only 55 grand.
It does seem that most all of the "low priced" nsx's Have a sketchy backround. I,m
glad I found my car so I don't have to get the shaft. Dan

I can believe that the car looks flawless. Other than the obvious body damage from the roll over there was nothing wrong with the car. The interior was still brand new, even still had the new car smell. then engine, trans, and suspension ect was in perfect condition. If they repainted the entire car, I am almost certain they had to do, it will be hard for someone to tell it was wrecked. I just hope someone knows what they are buying when it is sold... I guess that is the beauty of this site.

E-Bay agent Richter Enterprises also claims "The car was purchased off a early terminated lease"
Hmmm ... anyone any ideas why the lease would be terminated early? Blurr, was the performance in the inverted position not all you hoped it to be? (tongue firmly in cheek!!!)

Why do they declare NSX's totaled so quickly? are they that expensive to repair? That roll-over car didn't seem damaged that badly.

Declaring a vehicle totalled means taking the ACV (Actual Cash Value) of the vehicle, and comparing it with the repair estimate total. If the repairs come to at least 75% of the ACV, the vehicle is declared a total by law. That 75% is for Louisiana, not sure how other states declare it. Florida has 'Rebuildable' and 'Unrebuildable' salvage titles that they issue with totals, as well as FLOOD, FIRE & THEFT titles. This is good for the consumer, since it gives a better idea of what the damage entailed. I have dealt with salvage vehicles for 10+ years and cannot understand why people are so afraid of them as if they were a ghost or something. Do you realize that if your NSX gets stolen and 'hides' for 31 days but is returned unscathed after the insurance company pays you off, then YOUR beauty receives a salvage title? Thats correct, a salvage title for 0 damage. The law states that if the insurance company pays out 75% or greater for ANY loss, the vehicle is deemed salvage. I've gone through several 01 or 02 Acura cars that were stolen off of the lot, and not recovered for 45 days or so, with 80 miles on them, and not a scratch, but they now have salvage titles. Go figure.

I think you missed the point. Ok, a lot of people here have an attitude that salvage cars should be avoided like the plague and that's fine as long as you can afford a perfect NSX. There is a market for properly re-built damaged vehicles and that's fine, too. The point is that the history of these damaged cars should be permanent. It should *not* be possible for anyone to wash a title to remove this history. You should not have to rely on sites like this one and the kindness of strangers to avoid buying a car that's not quite what you think it is.

Edited to correct stupid spelling error.

The car has gone up $5K overnight, sheesh, I hate to see someone spending their hard-earned money for something like this when they don't know exactly what they are getting!
