High RPM NA1 Engine?

Now I'm interested in this latest bit about your comment that the oem NSX-R engine having a different intake manifold?
Is there a Honda part number on this manifold?

I'm interested too, since the intake manifold did not change between NA1 (DBW) and NA2. Can you get the Honda part number for the NSX-R intake?

I'm thinking the intake manifold is on the same parts list as the 10 k rpm Type-R engine and 10 k rpm tach and our man in Aomori has gone back to the GTR forums.

We can probably put it to rest since he never provided supporting evidence to any of his claims, he has reading comprehension issues, and its pretty much common knowledge a stock NSX-R did not rev to 10k.

I particularly like this post where "the guy" that he is referring to in the video is Ichischima talking about the spoon car, and at the end of the video, Ichischima asks what I thought of the car.
I'm sorry if my messages are difficult to read when I'm using my iPhone. What I mean is that everything that (Billy) has come up with other then telling me to prove the 10,000rpm nsx-r statement is all conjecture or just complete BS. He has not talked face to face with Ichishima and tell me and other not to believe media about the spoon car then posts a link to guess what a media interview with the guy who says his car was a 300hp stock which would make it a nsx-r not a nsx-r gt which where not stock C32B NSX-R engines. He says 2 were turbo 2 were 3.5L NA and one something else. While the spoon car was only a stock 300hp 3.2L which is a NSX-R. I haven't found a interview with him were he states that his car is in fact 100% one of the 5 nsx-r gt cars. In the video the American makes that statement. Here's a nice write up about the car. In which it explains what I've suspected. The spoon nsx-r gt not a legit one of five ever built it was a car they cloned to look like a nsx-r gt for their 20th anniversary. http://570sx.blogspot.jp/2011/04/spoon-nsx-r-gt.html?m=1

There's some light reading for you. I have a feeling you won't agree with any of it even the sites showing the cars real specs but I know what I believe.

I know even with all this evidence you will still make some excuses about how spoons owner said this or that when clearly he is wrong. The NSX-R GT was just a slightly changed version of the NSX-R and no power upgrades were done. If the original sales brochure does not convince you I don't know what will. Now as for spoons nsx-r gt being legit? Well if he told you that the cars came with built 3.5L NA engines and turbo version and was wrong about that then who's to say. A lot of Japanese forums say the cars were never made to be sold and that they went straight into becoming race cars. The spoon nsx-r gt race car is one that could be legit. But you are talking about the white spoon car and I'm talking about the. Blue and yellow nsx-r gt car he races at

This is the car I'm talking about

The NSX-R GT was just a slightly changed version of the NSX-R and no power upgrades were done.

Good job finding that NSX-R GT brochure. So when they were originally put together, the NSX-R GTs had the same 8000 rpm rev limit and 280 PS power output as regular NA2 NSX-Rs. The NSX-R engines were basically regular NSX engines that were painstakingly balanced by hand during the manufacturing process. So if you get a completely stock NSX engine carefully balanced, you've pretty much got an NSX-R GT engine including its 8000 rpm redline.

If you want to rev higher than an NSX's, NSX-R's, or NSX-R GT's 8000 rpm redline, I think you should make sure to switch out the OEM sintered metal oil pump gear for a billet gear that isn't in danger of falling to pieces above 8000 rpm. Installing lighter valves and/or stiffer valve springs is probably a good idea as well to combat valve float. To get the engine to breathe efficiently above 8000 rpm, a new intake manifold or ITBs would undoubtedly help.

I am inclined to go off what they say in modified since all of the Japanese forums say the same thing. In my earlier post I posted links of Japanese forums saying that very thing. That spoon used it's very close relationship with Honda to get the original body parts to build their own version. Regardless there are far more websites and links to pages saying the car was only a slight difference from the nsx-r they didn't come with anything more then the 3.2 C32B that the nsx-r has. Take a good look at the original sales brochure I posted several links to. I will keep looking for the links to the 10,000rpm references I got my information from so don't think I'm just sitting on my butt. And telling everyone that you drove the nsx-r spoon car? Come on dude. Dino from speed hunters did in fact get to drive the spoon sports nsx-r gt car and knows Ichishima-San

- - - Updated - - -

Well Greenberet I'm now trying to find out what the 3.5L ITB engine in the spoon sports nsx-r gt car had for a redline. Unfortunately since they went with more displacement I'm sure the redline remained the same if not lowered a little since it would have a longer stroke being a larger displacement. I'm only assuming because spoon built the 3.5L engine I. House and don't sell it so specs are unknown. I really hope i can get some answers when I go down to visit later this year.

I also want to visit the Espirit shop to talk about their nsx build

But he did drive the spoon nsx-r gt

Any way, forget spoon and mugen. If you want parts for a 10K rpm C30, Toda Racing is the place to go.

Yes, exactly. The Pre-2003 GT500 NSX used a 3.5 ITB engine built by Mugen using Toda parts. Toda still sells the parts. That will get you to 9,600 rpm. If you keep the 3.0, I have little doubt that engine will spin to 10,000 no problem. You will need all of the Toda parts except for 90mm pistons, which you can get forged and lightweight from Science of Speed. You also will need a HKS Fcon Vpro, MOTEC or AEM Infinity 6 engine management system. I am sure Spoon, RF Yamamoto, Route KS, Esprit, or KSP Eng will be happy to build and tune it for you. At that RPM, I would also seriously consider a dual-pass radiator (Driving Ambition) plus a dedicated external oil cooler. This entire project will probably cost US$40,000. But, you want a 10k rpm engine for a NSX, so...

Yes i agree. I know Toda cams and internals will be needed but ITB I am thinking of going with SOS only because they seem to flow very close to the TODA ITB set up and with the 50MM horns should get me the airflow I need. Even here in Japan Toda ITB are still $7000 new. I would probably go with AEM just because Yamamoto and Kakimoto can tune with them and i think so can KSP and Advance. Advance builds a 400hp+ 3.5L from their own parts for around $40,000 as ive seen one in person and talked to the owner. Those are not for really high RPMS though so like stated If i just went with light weight pistons and keep the stock titanium rods and have a micro polished and balanced crank with all Toda top end with ported head to match with ITB i could acheive the 10,000 redline. I might not make power to 10k but if i can get close with around power to 9500-9600 and slowly fall off after that then ill be happy. I know it will be costly and is a long time in coming but It would be a great retirement present to myself. I only have 11 more years until i can retire from the navy so If i save until then I should easily be able to do that. Or save 25k and snag a MF308 thats rebuilt from the UK and figure out how to mount its longitudinally. Either way It will be one of a kind. Nothing says NSX to me like 10,000rpms down the straight at fuji speedway. Who needs turbos with that sound behind your head.

You seem to be bouncing around a lot.
On another thread you're talking about wanting a kit for a J-block swap.
The J-block is a long stroke low revving engine, - exactly the opposite of what you are propounding on this thread.

first off thank you for serving....secondly...and this is more lol with some head scratching....so you have been breaking balls in this thread for something that you are going to do in 11 years...:rolleyes::eek:

NismoR32GT I think you talking about this has helped raise some good info especially from Billy that i hadnt read before but mate put your shovel back in the garden shed and stop digging a hole for yourself

This.

I am interested only for a future swap when my c30 goes. A cheap j swap would be a easier way to go while rebuilding a C30 so i can still use it rather then have the car be down while i save to get the C30 built the right way. I would not swap in a J engine for racing purposes.

If I can afford it sooner then I will build it sooner. ITB's will be in the near future as well as cams but the rest will have to wait until I can afford it. Also I might wait to get the work done somewhere like SOS once i eventually come back to the US since Labor here is super costly. Its easy to say (why dont you get the work done there since they are the best) when you not spending the money yourself. Not everyone that owns a NSX has a huge pocket book to pull from. I cant afford to build a $40,000 engine on a whim. And as for busting balls yes of course. When someone decides to thread bash or call someone out on something when they have their own info wrong they better be ready to take it right back. I am always learning and I will admit my mistakes when I make them. I have yet to provide the info I quoted from so i chalk it up as miss information and will admit my mistake since I cant find the japanese forum that talks about it. Out of everything ive mentioned I will assume im wrong about any factory NSX-R being able to run 10k without serious work. But when someone starts bashing my info and then trys to make themself seem better by throwing out that they have driven a car that they clearly havent or know things they clearly dont or make statements about a car they know nothing about then of course I will call them out. Its only fair that I do the same thats being done to me. I dont care how much of a "GOD" stuntman is on here or any other forum. If he is going to tell me im wrong about something and then start giving false info himself he deserves a dose of reality. And talking himself up by telling everyone he talked to the owner of spoon and heard from him that the spoon car is a real nsx-r gt and that he bought it from honda and that 2 of them were 3.5L N/A cars and 2 were turbo and one other was something else when as you have seen from the brochure I provided as well as countless other infomation sights that thats all complete garbage its just sad. The spoon car is a copy plan and simple and I have yet to see a video or read an interview where the owner of spoon says himself that his nsx-r gt is a legit one of the 5. Now that all being said I just think its arogant and stupid to make such claims because you think no one on this forum knows any better and I hate when people that meet some important people take it way farther then it is. I have met and hungout with Smokey from TopSecret and a couple other big shop owners from here in japan but i dont go saying that to eveyone while posting just so people know I did to make myself seem more important than I am. Sorry if that pisses anyone off or rubs you the wrong way but thats the truth and thats how I feel about this whole post. If some of you feel that me calling out stuntman on his own false BS statements is digging my own grave then you should really wake up to reality and do your own research into it so you can see how obviously full of himself he is. I am a nice chill guy and wont go thread bashing someone elses thread just because I want to seem or look important or smart. If you dont like something in someones thread then move on.

If I understand you correctly, when it's time to rebuild your C 30 you would go out and buy a J series engine and a J series swap kit and go through the headache and cost of installing a temporary engine.
It's been a long time since I built engines but even my biggest project only took a month with appropriate pre-ordering of parts and pre-booking machine shop time etc.
So for a month of downtime on your NSX you'll spend a week putting in a J engine and auto trans for two weeks of driving and debugging the install, then another week removing the J series and reinstalling the C series.
At the end you've got thousands invested in a J-series engine and NSX swap kit which you have no use for.
Does this plan reflect your best thinking?

Myself I'd hire a rental car or take a bus or use taxi's for a month which would be much cheaper and infinitely simpler.

BTW a few posters are still waiting for your info on the special intake for the type_r engine you spoke of.
If this is also one of your myths perhaps you could own up to this as well.

Ummmm.... not to interrupt this intense discussion but can someone tell me how that Spoon car sounds so damn good?

The spoon car I am referring to is the yellow and blue on that Ichishima-San drove at the Macau GP in 2009. Thats the same car that was featured by speedhunters. The white car in the video that you say was assembled at your friends shop must have been one of there now many replica cars with a little more kick. Both the video you posted and the televised race with the spoon nsx-r gt car racing at Macau say its the spoon nsx-r gt car ones stripped to the max with a built ITB engine and weights 2200lb the other weighs 2700lb has a full interior and a turbo.

2200lbs? That seems a little too light even stripped down..

Here you go dude. The much awaited info about the nsx-r intake.

http://www.honda.co.jp/CIVICTYPE-R/technology/cylinderhead/

Now before jumping to conclusions since the link says civictype-r not nsx-r just read the info on the page and you will see it is indeed talking about the nsx-r head design and port work involved in it's design. The valves and ports including runners were matched and mirror polished to reduce drag inside the intake by reducing 40% of surface roughness. Just google translate it and read for yourself it has a step by step of all the mods done to the heads. It also says how the head design was what they based the type -r civic heads off of for better performance.

I am still confused on the point of doing a J-series engine swap while having your NSX motor built...would it not be cheaper to buy another NSX motor, have it built and then swap motors? Sorry but I might be missing something, but I am trying to figure out the logic.
