Gumball 3000 in San Francisco

First off, I hope someone enjoys the pics since it took about 4 hours (resizing the pics and such).

Second, please dont eat me Mr. Forums Nazi, I was only testing the image attatchment feature - I swear it! (I seriously hope there's no rule about posting 80 pics like that) :p

So is this now a street legal, sanctioned, and organized event? I noticed the police escorts, blocked off roads, and plethora of European license plates and right hand drive cars. I was under the impression that past Gumballs were secretive, flat out running (and illegal) events.

It must have taken a lot of organizing, logistics, and maybe even some friendly donations to city coffers to get them to block off that section of California Street and have that many people gathered there. It's busy enough in that area with all the tourists even w/o the Gumball!

Amazing pics!!! :)

Too bad no NSX. :(

Thank you very much for the pictures!!
So I guess that there wasn't any NSX?? :o

After going through Las Vegas the Gumball came into Tucson, AZ (my city) last night/early morning. They are stopping at a local resort Ventana Canyon, and are planning to leave in the morning. If i was not working today at the hospital i would be up there checking the cars out. it looks like loads of fun and those are some awsome cars :)

new Viper looks god awful, like a Sebring, who let the ricers in, and why arent there any NSEX"s there. thanks for the pics.

ps. you could have used a thumbnail program to run a batch job on your pics, it would have taken you one minute to resize them all to whatever you wanted. if you want more info on this, PM me.

So what is this event about? I read that its a race from SF to Miami. How does that work when everyone has to make pit stops and stuff...Or is this just a cruise and stuff...

Is this legal or how how does it work....definetly seems interesting.

OMG they just went through my city, hauling a$$. I got to see almost all of them. The Koenigsegg was incredible, SOOO WIDE. Followed right by the F-50, 360 and two black Murcielago's. Very cool. We rode next to the maroon Elise for a second or two(was in the wife's car). They had a helicopter leading the pack with the SRT Viper in front. Two silver porches doing well over 150 flew past with a Nissan Altima(local) trying to catch up.:confused:rolleyes: If you can get to the interstate when they come by it is definetly a site to see. It took about an hour for them all to go by.

I'm not sure how things went with the Koenigsegg but at the beggining of the rally I remember seeing the engine bay opened up and the owner working at it. Later on someone had told me that earlier the owner was having problems with the oil filter or something along those lines and bought a belt for $50 off someone in the crowd to hold something together (pardon the lack of details :) ). He also said that there were only a few techs capable of servicing the car which obviously wouldnt make it in time so he was just going to give it a go anyways... Glad to hear he's still running - that is certainly one amazing car.

thanks for the pics but i couldn't believe i missed it on the first day....i would've skipped work and head right out to SF....only 45 minutes away!!

anyone know if they're coming back to SF?

Cool, I hear the Koenigsegg broke down on another forum by an person that went to the actual site when Gumball3000 was in Tuscan... He talked to the F50 owner and the owner said something to the effect that the Koenigsegg being Sweden made was not worth as much or something like that. But glad to hear it's still runing. Definately a badass car.
