Factory 2013 NSX info sent to dealers

I believe the Detroit auto show begins in January 9th correct?

I can't wait til that day, all this news around the NSX is making it one of the most anticipated event for me in years. Anyone going to attend the show in person? A few new car debut in the past that got me excited were: GT-R, R8, 911 (991). But by far the new NSX exceeded them by 10 fold because the rumor has been going around for years on and off and I can really relate to the car because of personal experience with it.

Don't get so excited. It might also be disappointed when the car comes out.

Hopefully the prices on used 02-05 will dip a little so i can enjoy what you guys have been enjoying for a while now!!! lol'

makes ya wonder, hmmm...

Since as-of-late, Acura (namely Honda) has been slotting their models into niche` market-segments that no one really cares for, such as:

* midsize premium, sporty 6-cylinder AWD sports-sedan: Audi A6 3.2 Quattro, BMW 530iX, MB 350 4Matic, Lexus GS350 AWD, Infiniti M35x... Acura RL

note -> to be competitive @ ~$45k+, need to be V8. Or at least RWD.

* compact premium, sporty 4-banger cute-ute: Audi Q3, BMW X3, MB GLK, Land Rover LR2, Infiniti EX, VW Tiguan... Acura RDX

note -> no room, no performance, no nothing for ~$35k+, no thanks!

* midsize premium, sporty fastback 6-cylinder lifestyle-crossover: BMW X6... Acura ZDX

note -> BMW's X6 tried to answer a question no one asked, Acura was dümm enough to copy

* compact economical, sporty fuel-efficient hatchback: Fiat 500, Mini Cooper, VW Golf, Mazda3, Hyundai Veloster... Honda CRZ

note -> own sibling Fit offers more room, similar fuel-economy, better price-point

* midsize economical, family AWD sport-wagon: Subaru Outback, Toyota Venza... Honda CrossTour

note -> the public wants road'trip rug-rat haulers or bahn'stormer hot-rod wagons, not fastback-sedans w/ lift-kits

Which brings to me my point: I am hopeful that this forthcoming halo offering in the form of a premium, high-performance exotic sports-car doesn't try to forge a new, radical identity or category by being overly polarizing in design (modern & progressive are good, odd & weird aren't), stubbornly restricted ("oh <400hp is a'plenty", no- it isn't!), fuel-economy/environment/earth (great to embrace those attributes w/ pioneering technology, engineering, advancement- but do it right & the Insight/CRZ aren't right!).

$100k? $125k? $150k? Who cares if it's all what I want. And I hope it's what I want, I really do!

And no, it will not affect current NSX values at-all-what-so-ever (in the private marketplace). It's like comparing tomatoes to potatoes. Yes, indeed it is! The only ones presumably gonna take a bath on their NSX residuals are those who rush to a dealer w/ their NSX as a trade-in... in such instances, expect to get (if you're lucky): $12k-$15k for your '91-'94, $16k-$20k for your '95-'96, $20k-$30k for your '97-'01, and $30k-$40k for your '02-'05. If anything, the $65k-$75k asking-prices of '02-'05 may comedown a bit, irregardless of use/mileage. Just a hunch. . .

Is that 400HP combustion + whatever the electric delivers which might be another 100HP equivalent?

If so then it's not too bad.

No that's total but that's for the RL. It's like 315 minimum plus the extras for that application. Supposedly Vtec.net says that off the record that that application was not "stout" enough for the NSX so we'll see if it anymore powerful.

If Honda could get at least 350-375hp out of the 3.5 it would justify a $100k price tag.

Why are so many people afraid that the price of their nsx will go down?

I for one bought the car because I love the car and not as an investment.
If you think that you will lose money then you better get rid of it now before your investment goes Down the drain.

Osiris_x11 nailed it pretty well regarding Hondas multiple recent failures. I would also add to that list that abhorrent schnoz on the current Acura lineup. I agree with him, I hope they don't try to create some overpriced, goofy niche vehicle. Though, if they do, I would assume that Honda is essentially dead and they will have used up any good will remaining within the enthusiast crowd.

I'm hoping we will see better numbers than that on the NSX NA V6. If Honda can't get at least 400hp from a 3.5 (114hp/L) with their newest technonoly they might as well sell their soul to the VAG's. Ferrari gets 570hp from a 4.5 (126hp/L) and Porsche gets 500hp from a 4.0 (125hp/L), hell, even Lamborghini gets well over 100hp/L on their offerings. If Honda wants to show the world they still got it, they better stop fucking arround. I'm very easy to please so I won't ask them to match Ferrari and Porsche on specific output. I'll content myself with 400hp from a 3.5 and make it fuel efficient since that's what Honda want. Add the electric power/torque and keep the package light and I'll be a happy bunny.

FINALLY! Bro I've been saying this for the longest! They were able to get 120hp on the S2000 and even some stock NA2 cars were dynoing in the 280 range which would equate to 100hp per liter and this was from old tech.

I totally agree and if your asking $100k how can you not at least deliver that!

If the S2k was able to make 120hp/liter on technology a few years ago, I can't imagine why the next NSX can't make over 400HP at the VERY least.

F458 already has the record for most HP/liter in normally aspirated OEM engine form.

The GT3 RS 4.0 makes right around what the S2k did on HP/liter in NA.

I already smell a NSX failure in power delivery.

Only thing they will get this new NSX right is the safety improvements and the infotainment gadgets.

They can keep all that if they dun have the power where it's at....

You guys think after 2 decades of criticism they will keep the power levels low again?

Wasn't the high revving V10 around 500 HP? So now we want 450 from a V6? Why doesn't Honda make a V8? Is it really THAT difficult? How much in sales are they willing to lose over that? V6 RL's, ridgelines and NSXs aren't going to cut it. I'm all for electric hybrids but it can't be wimpy or even on par. By the time it comes out the GTR will be putting down 600+ and the 458 scuderia will be at 650+. A ZR-1 will be at 700. Then we get a new NSX after all the wait at maybe 500 total? One that sounds like well ... A V6 hybrid? Yeah... that IS a roll of quarters in my pants.
