LOL I guess Ferrari didn't think so since they lifted the look for 458

Actually the HSC came out after the release of the Ferrari Enzo, and it [the Enzo] is the design influence for the 458.

But I have to admit a white 458 with it's black roof does seem to pay homage to an NSX Type R.

As for the looks of the HSC, meh they always left me cold..................

If you look at pics together the resemblance is uncanny. Ferrari can say what they want. First pics I saw of the 458 is like WTF?? They copied the HSC:confused:

I like and have always been a big supporter of the HSC. Only thing that ever bother me about it was the silver paint they used:biggrin:

I know u r joking....

Not at all. Not alone on this as it was discussed in a thread here around the time the 458 had debuted. N-Spec is saying the 458 was inspired by the Enzo and since the Japanese tend to copy on design maybe that's where some of it's influence came from as well.

HSC was/is would've been a great evolutionary update to the 02+ NSX. Most of you guys don't like that as the NSX has a very strong traditional base that for all intensive purposes believe the NSX died at the 02+ due to the headlight change. Well except for the Type R lol.

Guys who were buying the 02+ liked the HSC as it was giving us something to upgrade to. No one complained then about the mention that it would have SHAWD. What killed the HSC was the plaque that said 300+ hp. THAT killed the car. Even though it was rumored to be around 357hp the hp wars were starting up and that just wouldn't cut it so Fuqui decided to go big or go home and hence the ASCC was conceived and then stillborn due to economy and price. The bad part is the HSC with 350+would have more than kept up with the 360 as the 02+ weren't far off at half the price. Plus the HSC would also have been a great stop gap till this new NSX 2.0 version was conceived. Oh well.

I want it to be $150K range and limited production. Then it is worth to own one. Otherwise it would be just another car.

That's R8 V10 money I don't think Hondas going to go there. $90-100k on this car due to competition.

 I said no such thing. The 458 does have traits similar to the Enzo (the rear end and top), but the that can be said about any Ferrari that came after the Enzo. The production 458 is a bit more unique(or strange could be a better word) and very Pininfarina.

Now the concept images that debuted:

This accumulation made the 458 looks very similar to:

The original 458 concept's front end and details looked better IMO. The production trim changed the front end drastically (perhaps because of the HSC comments popping up online lol)and it looks a bit more gumby or streamlined, that which Pininfarina is known for.

Not knocking the 458 (It's still a beast), but that front end is very strange looking

If you are referring to the flutes inside the grill, I think you'll find they are aerodynamically tuned to stall most of the air entering the grill at high speeds thus reducing drag and generating downforce. Still a work of scultured beauty, and the first Fazz I would seriously consider owning [if I ever won Lotto]

I hate to speculate too far in advance....but I think the two cars will coexist with very different owner demographics, just like 1991 all over again...that said the "old" nsx will still slowly appreciate over time, because it in itself is timeless. As long as there is strong parts support for the Na1/Na2 these cars will still be coveted/cherrished by enough folks to keep pricing strong.

+1

Unless Honda comes out with a rear mid engine RWD ONLY that looks like the HSC, the current NSX will have it's cult following as "the" original NSX.

Look at the GTO. the old stuff people liked. New one..... well let's just say that it looks bland and in the low teens you can now afford the cheapest OEM 400HP car with 4 seats. The new GTO has more technology and material updates than the old GTO, but it wasn't a big hit so only 40k were produced for the USA.

Just got this from Road and Track,

A month before Acura will reveal the 2012 NSX Concept at the Detroit Auto Show, a select number of journalists and dealers were allowed to view it. Also on display was the TSX replacement, the ILX. No photos were allowed. Only my bad sketches and notes could leave the room. Photos of the concept NSX will be racing along the information highway shortly after the car’s unveiling January 10th.

Surprisingly, after the viewing, when I did a Google search for “Acura NSX spy photos,” there was one that actually looked like the car I’d just seen. Apparently Tony Stark will be driving a convertible version of the NSX concept in the upcoming Avengers movie. The concept to be shown in Detroit is dark silver and black. It’s not vibrant and flashy. And it’s not simply a mid-engine sports coupe. Instead it’s an all-wheel-drive hybrid, one wearing an SH-AWD badge on its rear decklid. Specifications will have to wait, as will final designs, but I can point to a few details that should make production, aside from its overall shape. This includes flying-buttress B-pillars, carbon-ceramic brake rotors and 255/35ZR-19 front, 275/30ZR-20 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

It’s small and swoopy, with just two seats. Where will it fit in the world of supercars and other exotics? The first NSX had a moderately powerful transversely-mounted V-6 while others at the time had turbochargers or extra displacement. This time around, the performance of the NSX will be improved via an electrically driven front axle and a 7-speed twin-clutch transmission. Clearly this new all-wheel-drive NSX is not a conventional supercar; in fact, in many ways, it resembles the BMW i8 Vision Dynamics concept.

If anyone is wondering what has happened to the front-engine NSV—the V-10-powered, luxury sports car—it has been replaced by the NSX concept. Let’s hope that when it reaches production, we’ll see a lot of red, yellow and white paint. Dark silver just doesn’t do it justice.

I don't think this car will have the 7 speed. It may and I guess we have to wait and find out for sure but early reports were that it would use the 8speed DSG from the ASCC. Which again if your asking $90-100k for a car you should be using the same tranny your using in most of the rest of your line up.

I'm sure this isn't just your biased opinion.

Traditional Honda would be Championship White with red emblems and interior. ;)

Tapaderp

Think they'll be a type R? That part of Honda still seems dead.

Carbon ceramics brake? This new nsx is going to be expensive.

That alone is a 5-7k option!! All i know is if they ever produce it.....the owner of the dealership i work for will get one asap and ill get to drive it!!

Where did you read those reports?
Never read or heard anything about a 8 speed trans. for the ASCC... or indeed that Honda was even working on one.

Honda spent a lot of money working up the trans for the HSV-10, so I think we'll see a version in the Concept. However, given the hoopla over the unique "manual transmission hybrid" in the CR-Z, we may see a version of that as well. It would certainly be lighter than the dual clutch semi-auto HSV box. Perhaps an option for Type-S? If the theme of the new concept is "man machine", I don't see how they could get away with not offering a manual, which is the purest interface bewteen driver and car other than steering.

There is a 458 owner that parks his car near the road, facing the road... see it sometimes on my way to work when the weather is consistent.

Have to disagree with you, the front-end works for me.

Recall the first time I saw a 458 in Plano, TX area... thought nice headlights

Early reports on the prototype said that Honda was using a 8 speed DSG to increase fuel economy. This was several years back and was a small blurb. I'll try to find it.

I don't know counselor type R and type S were old Honda. Not sure we'll see anything like that again. I mean there are no sport versions of anything and haven't been ( at least in the US ) since the 09 S2K CR.

Plus the CRZ manual is a slow seller on an already slow selling car.

Plus manual tranny while great as it is is the old way and just not as competitive. With a DSG launch control and some tuning Honda can make this car run with the bigger dogs. Lot of electronics on this car to so I manual not likely.

Wow! Guess I need to start selling a lot of plasma to get one of these gems!

I think we're talking black market organs for this puppy. Like they say you really only need one kidney:biggrin:

I don't need one right when they drop as I don't pay sticker or dealer adjusted mark up for anything!

based on that road and track article, i think we'll be seeing something close to one of the renders that was leaked a while back.

Small and swoopy, dark silver and black, the b pillars, mid engine seems to fit the description quite well.

Also take notice to the drawing in the second picture of the seating position...as a grain of salt lol.
