Factory 2013 NSX info sent to dealers

The tire sizing is very interesting. So much can go wrong in the handling and feel if the car and connection to the road with awd. IMO theres a greater likelyhood that awd would hurt the enjoyment and raw driving experience of the car. All of this hybrid awd systems sound like weight to me. If its a 400hp hybrid awd car then it will probably be a turded down gallardo with v8 audi r8 power and the disconnect of a hybrid. Fun.

We will see....

What are you guys going to do with the old NSX's? The price will drop dramatically ..... I assume.

I hate to speculate too far in advance....but I think the two cars will coexist with very different owner demographics, just like 1991 all over again...that said the "old" nsx will still slowly appreciate over time, because it in itself is timeless. As long as there is strong parts support for the Na1/Na2 these cars will still be coveted/cherrished by enough folks to keep pricing strong.

I'm looking for an Acura dealer to place a deposit. I really hope they don't show a hot concept then dumb it down for production. I'm very excited its mid engined and 2 seater. I wish it had a stick because I really like shifting even if it's a bit slower, and that also will weed out the Paris Hiltons and " the real housewives of Orange County" out of the owners group. That's one thing I like about the NSX now.

And you have a chance to not buy a geezer color:biggrin:

I'm hoping they'll go with the more exotic colors we saw with the 02+ along with more than just black or gray interior. Plenty of time to wait and see what they're going to offer.

Dude this car is going to kill the old NSX value if it's looks as good as what I've been reading. If your gonna sell might want to do it before the market gets flooded with NSX trade in's.

Lol, Blue has really grown on me, especially since I recently procured a blue R6. I have come to realize the NSX looks good in any color. Nonetheless, I still associate blue and green as feminine colors.

Please explain why blue? You think of blue as feminine when in American culture it's the penultimate of masculinity:confused:

What Colors Appeal to Men?

Blue is a favorite color of men (and women); | Favorite Colors of Women | Cool, Calming Colors | Warm, Exciting Colors | Mixed Cool/Warm Colors | Unifying Neutral Colors

Question: What Colors Appeal to Men?
As you might guess, pink isn't a favorite of most men but it's not their least favorite color. Blue, green, and black are generally the colors that men do like most. However, the colors men like for themselves and the colors they find attractive on women aren't necessarily the same.

Colors that are traditionally considered masculine colors or that appeal most strongly to or are more closely associated with men can be good choices for marketing messages, Web sites, and interior designs targeting men. Color studies done over the years indicate that the favorite colors of men and women do differ. Some of these differences in favorite colors may be attributed to cultural use of color and conditioning.

Answer: There are no hard and fast rules about what colors are masculine or feminine or gender-neutral. Because colors come in many tints and shades, someone may love a rich, royal blue but strongly dislike a pale, sky blue so a preference for the color blue doesn't mean that every shade of blue is universally appropriate. However, some generalizations are possible based on various color studies.

Men Like the Color Blue

Blue is a favorite color of both men and women of all ages. However, men have a much stronger preference for blue than women. It may be the calming effect of the color blue that makes it a popular color for both men and women or it could be the association of some shades of blue with authority figures, intelligence, and stability. It's possible that men tend toward blue because they've noticed that women find men in blue attractive whether it's a blue uniform or a blue business suit.

You guys crack me up with that lol

I find that hard to believe because:

First off, Honda NEVER releases any upcoming model information to the dealership other than mid season updates. If they have something that serious in the bag, they would have called a world wide press release at the Suzuka Circuit at least a year before they are rolling off the showroom. 2013 model year means it is coming out in seven months; therefore, this is a unlikely scenario. If they say 2014, the story will have more validity.

Second, I can't imagine they will do a stand alone 3.7 that is capable to put out 450hp without FI (but a plausible output for a hybrid). They will have to do DHOC or the existing SOHC will not attract anyone. Let's say they achieve 120hp/Liter like the AP1 S2k, it will have 444hp, which will not be a realistic figure since they figured out the S2k was unable to meet the "Honda reliability" at that output even with 0.5 liter per cylinder; at 3.7 liter, it will be 0.6x liter per cylinder. Also 450hp will be DOA as well considering the fact that everything else out there have 500HP or more regardless of the weight.

My conclusion is, if there is such a vehicle coming to fruition, which I understand there is from reading JDM articles, it is not going to be a NSX replacement, but a high end touring coupe to meet the BMW 6 series or MB SL/CL. The car will likely be built on RL platform and can't be 20% higher than RL's MSRP because it will cost more than the GTR with less performance.

So what is the point of this car?

Than again, I could be wrong.

Yeah I'm getting some bad vibes when they say they're not going for all out performance, but rather trying new things, going for efficiency etc. I am all for trying innovative new things and having the latest engineering bling, BUT at the end of the day it needs to be somewhat competitive with what's out there today. What will then push it beyond the others will be reliability and nicer lines than the R8/911/GTR, etc.

If they can achieve 120 hp per liter at 3.7, 444hp + 54hp from the electric motors (27hp) each, that would equate the total output at 498hp. So in essence it's a 500hp car. They did say the electric motor plus the 3.5 direct injection v6 wasn't potent enough, so who knows how much the displacement increased. I think honda has enough smart engineers to make a reliable 120hp per liter v6, I mean c'mon they made the HondaJet.

Fascinating and exciting news indeed, but who is the Honda "Mizuno-San" heading the NSX2 project?

So, far we haven't heard anything other than what Mr Ito has said (and given his recent undewhelming performance at the launch of Honda's bread and butter 2012 all-important Civic he should do the honorable thing and step aside/fall on his sword so that an engineer in the spirit of Ichiro (Honda) can become bossman). Better still just head hunt Dr Bez from Aston Martin, at least the Astons he has had a hand in look nice.

Vance you're a real party pooper you know that? A Debbie Downer. A negative Nancy. I'm gonna call you "Vance kick in the pants"... LOL...

As soon as I get all excited you get all technical with displacement per cylinder stats. I can't take this emotional roller coaster anymore. I'm feeling like WingZ during his period.

It's just my opinion but, none of the pictures I have seen of proposed replacement NSXs gives me the same feeling got 20 years ago when I saw my first NSX and promised that I would own one someday. (It took me 20 yrs to get it.) The design on http://vtec.net is the one that comes closest to reminding me of that day. It tries to look like a 458 for less money. Now, if it performs, is reliable and they reduce the size of that snowplow of a Honda logo, I might be pining for one hopefully sooner than later.

That said, the current executive and design teams at Honda have done little to boost their credibility so I won't hold my breath.

Instead I'll just keep enjoying my current NSX just as it is. And I won't lose any sleep over who thinks it's an exotic, supercar or not. To me it's the only driving experience I can feel in my soul. And after all, deep down isn't that what we all are looking for from Honda? Just goes to show how hard it is to follow up on the original.

If it looks like the Avenger's car then Honda has a winner imo. It seems like the overall majority of people who have posted their opinion about the Avenger car has been positive. In most all of the other designs it was always a negative opinion. The HSC and the ASCC and HSV were all given negative publicity by the general car guys including here in NSXprime.

Can't wait for the debut now :D.

We were right about one thing. That Avenger car is based off a NSX. If you look at the second avenger car picture the inner door panel and door handle setup is the same as our NSX!

I thought most of us loved the HSC design

What are you guys going to do with the old NSX's? The price will drop dramatically ..... I assume.

I doubt the new NSX will impact the pricing on the old ones. Now if the new one is really "that" good, for the people who can't afford it they will try to look for an old one, so it'll actually kind of revive the name IMO. And, finally we'll have some "heritage", where the old one can eventually be classified as a "Classic NSX", similar to Ferrari. Look at the F355, it pretty much stayed at the current price range for quite some time now, even we have 3 generations of cars after it (360, F430, 458 Italia).

Well, if it is in fact MR then I say it could be the NSX replacement we've been dreaming about. However, I still won't believe it until something more concrete is seen.

Well, it is not impossible for them to tweak the NSX chassis to produce the car from Avengers movie. Gordon Murray said NSX chassis is capable of handling a lot more HP. Judging by what people have done to their NSX, including Danny's 1000 hp beast....

However, from all the information I have seen/gathered, it is going to be a front midship. I think from production and service point of view, it make more sense. Plus I'm trying to figure out if they can contain the cost of an aluminum chassis again since it was the biggest reason why the NSX is so expensive. Somehow I have the feeling that it is going to be a modified RL/Legend chassis, which is steel.

The rumor is that Honda will introduce a concept prototype to the next major auto show so it will be an exciting event if that does happen - regardless of what they bring.

I have no doubt it will be a performer, with SH-AWD, it will do well in handling.

I certainly hope it will be smaller than the GTR in over all measurement and few hundred pounds lighter. I don't need a nil to 60 under 3.5 second car, but if it can do the number in 4, they might have a winner if it is priced under $80 or 90k.

What fascinates me is that so far, there have zero spy photos of this car anywhere, not even in Japan. So if this concept is the contender to be produced, they are doing a very good job keeping in secret.

Just have to wait and see. I hope something happens, regardless if it is a NSX successor. After all, they have zero performance car in the market right now. It will definitely sizzle the line up.
