Re: Tweets from the track

Anyone following James Allen? http://twitter.com/Jamesallenonf1

Phil Huff twittered (does anyone say tweeted?) that McLaren's shop in Woking has put 2 new "protested" style diffusers on a 747 heading to the team. The question is, can they just slap that on and make it work when the rest of the car was not designed for it? We shall see.

And good for Williams that they get a few moments in the limelight.

FWIW Ted, I read once that Nick Fry demanded that McLaren style sidepods be built, flown in, and installed before a GP once. That was done w/ the disapproval of Geoff Willis (probably one of the reasons why he was sacked). So the practice isn't unheard of. I'm sure Macca did a fair (given the limited time) amount of CFD before a design was sent out to Aussie.

I'm sure everyone will be copying the design to some degree in future GPs once it passes the FIA appeal process. But if it's declared illegal then...I guess any points Brawn may have will vanish.

I think for testing purpose, it wouldn't hurt McLaren any more than where they're at right now. They're pertty much out of points and if this doesn't work, they'll still be out of points.

I laugh at all those naysayers in other forums that still bag on BrawnGP. Their pace is REAL. One if not both of them will be on podium come Sunday. Just gotta watch out for Jarno Trulli and Nico Rosberg, those two are quick as well.

Hell Motherf^#*ing yeah!!!

P1 Jenson Buttton
P2 Rubens Barichello

I could hardly believe it myself- the BraunGP team is looking strong- Wonder if anyone @ Honda is second guessing axing the program...

P

It's BRAWN. ;) Did anyone hear Bob Varsha calling Ross Brawn, Rubens Barichello, and Jenson Button the "Killer Bees"

And where are all you naysayers at? were there any here on Prime?

Maybe they bite themselves in the as* but please remind that it's a Mercedes engine in the car and Ross Brawn praised it to an extend that makes one think about what he's telling with that between the lines.

Last time we had a car as dominant was this was Ferrari in 2004 and Rubens was in that car too!

I'm curious, where are these naysayers? Anyone paying any attention at all would be quiet and watchful if not a cheerleader.

I'm very happy for Jenson and Ruben. This is going to be a hell of a season!!!

I hope they keep a good relationship all the way to the end. Ruben really want to be the world champ and this may be his last year in F1.

Honda executives must be ready to commit group suicide.

Great qualifying!
I hope they do well in the race.
They better not take each other out on the 1st turn.

We've been waiting for years for Honda to be really competitive.
Honda pulled out of F1 just in time.:frown:

It hurts a little bit to see the top of time sheet with BrawnMercBenz
and not Honda.

If they win and beat Ferrari and McLaren, the BGP diffuser will certainly be deemed illegal in Paris.

Best of luck to BGP the rest of the season !

Im so happy for Button and Barrichello for all the years they gave Honda in an uncompetitive car. They deserve this more than anyone.
The powers that be at Honda are definitely commiting sepoku by now. I cant believe they pulled out and left those guys out to dry. I, just like most of you guys wish it were a honda engine to go along with their well developed chassis. The chassis obviously deserves the lions' share of the credit since the factory mercedes cars are now struggling to get out of P1!!! Oh how the tables turn.
BTW....i dont think the "killer Bees" will have any problem at the start of the race since they were both used to driving in the back and middle of the pack where all the traffic is. Now that theyre leading the way .......it comes down to pit stragety and engine reliability.
Good luck to the boys from Brawn!!!

I love this (taken from Canadian's sports channel TSN):
Brawn's achievement in taking pole on debut was the first time that had been achieved since Jackie Stewart's effort for Tyrell at the 1970 Canadian GP.

It had other other teams fearing that Brawn may run away with the championship this season, unless its rear diffuser is deemed illegal.

"If they carry on like that, they will win the championship by the middle of the year," Massa said.

"Its hard to believe a month ago they were sitting at home, now they are ready to fight for the world championship," Renault's Fernando Alonso said.

Go Brawn Go!!

Are you saying their pace is not real? These last couple weeks people have been saying that Ferrari and McLaren were sandbagging, that the "Killer Bees" were running light, etc.. coming up with all these excuses. Honda definitely put in some time into the chassis, and it's showing and paying off. The other teams could improve and catch up as the season progresses, but there's no denying Brawn GP is dominating at the moment.

BTW, you're not a Hambone fan, are you?

It seems that the protests were all denied since the diffusers in question were all deemed legal by the stewards. Everyone is going to try and scramble now to copy but with the ban on in season testing and the fact that their cars werent designed to run with it, i think Brawn will still have the upper hand.

Toyota has been penalized and sent to the back of the grid. Their diffusers were deemed illegal for flexing too much or something like that.
