F1 2008 Megathread

Re: The good news is

Watched the qual session at work today, missed part of Q1 though. I don't know what happened to Button, but he qualified in 19th place, what gives? Barichello did manage to get to Q3 and qual'd in 9th. I didn't really see him on the track, or they did not show him much.

Re: Fire the gear box guy

"I had a problem with third gear right at the start of Q1 which meant that I had no drive and that was the end of my qualifying today," said Jenson.
.

Don't see that kind of phuque up too often.:frown: ...........even on my team.

Re: Fire the gear box guy

Oh Man!!! Zomg!! Could This Be It??!!!

Re: Forget the unwashed masses

I know we've probably ranted about this before, but man, F-1 on Fox sucks since they have to dumb down the running commentary so bad. And no pre-race show? Will they have that on the replay on Wednesday?

Re: Forget the unwashed masses

God@*$(@!!

Honda scored points yes! How can they be that slow, still? What happened to JB
gearbox? I was thinking they would start to do better. Maybe all the work is on next years car.

Hamilton is human he was not looking at the red light at pit out:eek:

RB in the lead for a few laps, how could he not stay there!?

I guess the car is still crap! RB the vet, I hope he knows whats he's doing? JB the prodigal son looks like the car!

I think JB will take a one year deal with an option for a multi-year contract(in broad strokes) or a contract with car performance provisions. If Brawn can't come up with a good car for '09, he's going to bolt. I would.
.

This year's car is not under the responsibility of Brown, next year will be. If they can score points on a consistent base, they will have a shot towards the top. How many years was Brown at Beneton and Ferrari before they won the championship? Quite a while.

Consistency is what Honda need - In the area of staffing. If they have the right people and give them time to work things out without internal friction, they will do well in the future. Not rotating the right people out of the team because the team is not performing is the key why Ferrari and McLaren are so impressive. Brown is the first key person, he will have the budget to the right people on board. JB will stay, RB will most likely not. Don't be surprise if they bring back Sato. They will not be able to attract good drivers until they can score points and podium on a regular basis. Look at Alonso, he can't do shit this year in the Renault.

IMO , I think they will bring back Barichello next year along with Button. Barichello has been doing as good as or better than Button this year.

I'm still a RB believer is he can catch a good ride. However, Honda is not committing to RB until they search the market first that is why the contract negotiation is on hold. Ruben is a proven winner even driving under MS at Ferrari, and he can do it again.

JB wise, if you observe him during the 2004 season, he had more showing than any of the new comers. In fact, if you watch the way he drove during that season, he is on par with the big shots. It is just a shame that he's never in a good team. Unlike Jean Alesi during his peak, which after the age of 30, JB is still very young and can continue to grow with Honda. He is actually not that much older than Hamilton if you think about it.

Re: Poor RB

I was amazed he stayed there as long as he did. And he barely held off Vettel at the end. He probably did a good job with what he had for a car. Edit: Vettel didn't get by because he was holding off Heikki. And Vettel should've been penalized for cutting the chicane in front of Heikki.

So, I missed something; did both Flippy and Heikki have to stop after they passed RB in T-10 with 20 to go? Apparently that's what happened since they were both behind him again with 9 to go. But who can tell with so many commericials?

Kubica was great. He deserves it although if Lewis wasn't replaying his dad's driving skillz, it may have come out differently. I hate FOX coverage...they do 1/2 of what Speed does.

werd, he deserves it, specially after what happened to him there last year.

speed on wed replay.

Re: Moving right along

Honda is bagging major work on ths year's car and focusing most if not all energy on next year's. As Hobbs or Matchett said, it is apparent that Honda is completely lost in the aero department if they have the dumbo ears and no one else does.

I think Ross's organization has done well with what they inherited from last year. Good team communication and strategy must be in place for them to have scored any points.

It has only been 1/3 of the season, and we have scored points already. I think Honda is doing alot better already. Next year, watch out.
