This may not be NSX related but there are so many sharp guys out there with great answers, thought I would ask this question.

My friend's GTR is a couple weeks behind in delivery because the dealer says that they can only put one GTR per transport hauler because of possible damage that may occur loading or unloading. In other words, they can't put a lot on a truck which they say is causing a delay.

Is this a bunch of bull crap or what?? How about Vets or other low, wide cars? How were NSX's transported across the country to dealers? Are they stalling or is there some truth to this?

Can the underside of cars be damaged transporting?

Total Bullshit, NSX's came 7 to 9 per enclosed trailer. I still remember seeing them being unloaded...love at first site!

A. wrong forum to post this in (NSX Owner Discussion Directly NSX-related topics that do not fit in any other more specific forum!)
B. who cares? (unless you're waiting on yours to arrive)
C. sounds like bull that only 1 car can go on a transporter. waste of time & diesel.

I was driving on the 405 S. Bound in Orange Country last week and there was the SLR Vision Convertible on top of a open transport.

GTR story is a total BS. They sold the one you're friend put the deposit on and they are in search or waiting for another one so they don't loose this deal.

BS.

My friend had a deposit on a GTR for MSRP. Called the dealership, they said they never received one.

My friend found out they did receive one, they just sold it at 15k+ MSRP.

They are all selling over MSRP.

I know the MAJOR reason for the delay in delivery is due to the fact that EACH GTR needs to be inspected and all dealers need to make sure all of their requirements are met before delivery (GTR trained techs, hunters installed, etc).

Sorry bro, every NEW cars are required to be inspected by a tech before allowed to be delivered. That process takes no more than 15 minutes on each car. NOT just the GTR. It's called New Car PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection). If you think it takes a Nissan dealer more time to inspect a GTR than a Altima, you wrong.

I know. I wish I had taken a picture of the truckloads of them when they dropped off a new one at the dealership I worked at in high school. It was beautiful.

Sounds like your friend has a case for contract fraud by the dealership.

That is what happened to a friend of mine back in 1999. This is when the Acura TL came out and was really hot. My friend bought one from David McDavid Acura in Austin, Texas because we could not find the one he wanted locally in Indiana. Anyway, he did all the paperwork for the car here, got insurance on the car before he left (since they gave him the VIN#), and we were off to Texas to pick it up.

We got there late the night before picking it up and found his car (the ONLY green one on the lot) sitting under the front overhang. The next morning we come back, and it is gone. 5 minutes later the car comes pulling up from a test drive with a salesman and 3 customers hopping out of it! Keep in mind, my friend had bought and paid for this car ahead of time, so this was HIS car, not one for the dealer to send on test drives. We confront the Sales Manager on this, and he calls us liars, and says that what we just saw did not actually happen (true story). We are stunned. Eventually they admit they wrongly took the car on a test drive. It gets better. As we are inspecting the car to leave, I suggest my friend read me the VIN off of his paperwork, as this dealership is giving me a bad vibe. The VIN numbers don't match! Come to find out they did not want to wait the 1 week it took for us to fly down there, they sold his car out from under him (remember, he had FULLY PAID FOR, and obtained insurance for a certain VIN# car), and they were not going to tell him anything about it. They were just too eager to move another unit. If we had driven back to Indiana and been pulled over, or gone to the DMV to get plates, and did not have the right car VIN to match the paperwork, I cannot imagine what would have happened. Dealers cannot be trusted with cars that are in high demand.

Not to throw gas on the flames but my dad's deposit on a GTR went poof too. Car was supposed to be delivered either next month or the month after, I forget. But now they have no ETA. Now hes trying to get his money back and the dealers are being retarded. Dealer must have taken his money and invested in sub prime loans and now they are hurting.:rolleyes:

I love how Nissan indicate only 1500 cars are allocated to the US shores, yeah, the year is half over.

I bet each dealers will probably get 4-6 cars next year.

OMG, of course all cars require an inspection on arrival. The GTR inspection is much more involved then an Altima inspection. I'm too lazy to look up the specifics, but speak to your neighborhood Nissan GM to get the skinny. Moving on, My dealer for example has his 3 alloted GTR's being delayed due to not getting all his requirements completed yet. I'm sure Nissan validating that dealerships are "GTR Ready" doesn't exactly speed things up as well. Delerships must have all tests and facilty inspections done before any car is dropped off. However, we are seeing GTR's tricking into dealerships NOW.

1500 cars in first year of release, not calendar year. Dealerships who were eligible for GTR's this year had to be GTR certified and allotment was based on total nissan and Z sales. Not sure what the allotment will be next year, but if it is limited again, they will use the same forumula. Maybe less cars @ the same dealerships if others jump on board and go through the GTR certification process (over a 65k investment for a dealer).

^please threaten to call Nissan America or something to report them. Dealerships HATE having bad customer reviews getting back to the home office. They are lying and sold his car. Make it hell on earth for them please.

Synth, what dealer have you been working with?

I was on the list at Continental and at the start they would not take deposits but would not give a price either. They ended up at $8k over MSRP and gave me like 24 hours to decide if I wanted a car but could not tell me color, etc.

I said, No Thanks.

LMAO!!!

Dude, I don't know who is feeding you this information. During PDI check, they don't do that much!!! Each car gets a hour dealer labor for EVERY MODEL!!! You really need to learn how NOT to be so gullible.

PDI process consist of nothing more than oil/fluid check, tire pressure, panel checks (for damage during shipping), some times activation of Navigation, etc., that's about it. Do you really think a brand new car requires massive check up when they already done that at the factory before sending it to the boat?

If you know some thing else, please tell us:confused::confused::confused:

Do you think they have to check out the flex capacitor? or Nuclear fusion injection?

It's funny to see dealership roping off a $70k cars like that. They didn't even do that at the local Ferrari Dealers. However, when Newport Import had a McLaren F1, they roped it off.

The general clientele at a Nissan dealership is much different than at a Ferrari dealership. The people who step into a Ferrari dealership generally don't come with kids in tow to look at a mini-van, or 16 year old kids looking for their first set of wheels.

With that in mind, if it were my Nissan dealership, I would rope it off too.

If I were the owner of one of these cars (which I'm sure are already pre-sold), I wouldn't want a bunch of people pawing over my car either.
