Bye Bye 'ACURA'....

I've got the full "H' conversion too, including the less common pieces such as the airbag, tape deck door, spoiler brake light, CD changer, and valet key.

What I'd be interested to know if some of the very minor details exist at all in any left hand drive countries:

- remote keyless entry unit (does the JDM one work in our cars?)
- engine bay stickers
- owner's manual

As a side note, I also have a "Honda" Legend Coupe, complete with airbag and tape deck door. But, still need engine bay stickers and owners manual.

Already determined that JDM keyless entry is built in to a laser cut key, such that the entire car's locking system and ignition switch would need to be changed.

Haha, this topic is funny. The typical questions I get asked:

"What kind of car is that?"

"What kind of Honda is that?"

"Is that a new Honda model?"

"I thought Acura made the NSX?"

I'm a little tired of explaining to people so I just tell them it was a special order.

If you think that this side of the ocean I did swap the "H" for the "A". I used the 2002 emblems since I find them a lot more attractive than the old ones.

I imagine is all a question of excluisivity, we always try to be different from the rest...

This is pretty funny. Here's a comment by a visitor to my vehicle profile at cardomain:

"Uhhh...yeah, nice ACURA NSX, that's why it's called Acura...NOT HONDA, please take those Honda emblems off, they ruin the car"

Some people's children.

I have the full Honda conversion, and have completed the effect by recently throwing on a licence plate frame from the local Honda dealer. Have already seen some surprised expressions on the freeway. Will be funny to see people going there looking to buy the "new sportscar model".

Mine was 50/50 when I got it. Honda nose badge, Acura in the tail lense. Got sick of explaining to people that Honda and Acura were one in the same, but left it the way it was. Finally changed it after the second ticket the garage gave me at the office. If I went in nose first, no problem. Nose out? Nailed. It was no longer a "white Acura" :) Cleared the tail lense, then no problems.

Prefer Honda for the same reasons the others gave. Honda made it, most parts are stamped Honda, calling it an Acura seems wrong. It's an awesome car that should be proud of its roots! :)

Besides the steering wheel, the front badge, the rear badge, and that sticker on the firewall by the airbox, where else did the acura symbol appear? Thats all I can think of actually.

CD changer, magazine and tape flap.
I picked up a Euro Honda radio that displays radio RDS signals and the Honda CD changer/magazine.

... The top cruise button has japanese writing on it, under the 'RESUME' word. Pretty neat. Thanks for the engine bay tip. I'm on that as soon as the sun rises.

There is a doctor in Michigan who has a '91 NSX that mistakenly had the Japanese cruise buttons put on it from the factory. I always wondered why they were different than mine. :)

in Australia an owner would probably try to mod the whole car so it says "acura" instead of Honda, which is the norm.

Hell no, im a debadge man anyway, acura is like a swear word for us import oz enthusiasts! ;) Its a Honda and we're proud of it ;)

Start reading hot4s and fastfours and high performance imports Neo! You need to get in the know!:D

should i change my lexus ES300 to toyota camry?
the engine says its toyota
all the "L"s to "T"

Actually, in the case of the Lexus ES300, it should be changed to a Toyota Windom, which is what the Lexus ES300 is known as in Japan.

As someone else mentioned, the CD Changer, the Cassette door flap, and the CD Magazine.

Also 1-2 stickers underhood and in the engine compartment, the valet key, keyless entry remotes, owner's manual, and wheel center caps

A to H, H to A...what ever....
just don't change your Jaguar S type to Ford Contour or your Saab 9-3 to a Ford Focus...Just cuz Ford makes all of them:D

there is 100 other examples out there also....

BTW, to be a true JDM conversion, wouldn't you have to install RHD???:p

Actually, as I think has been pointed out before, the difference between Acura and the Ford example is that Acura exists only in North America and Hong Kong as a marketing ploy to hide the car's true origins. Everywhere else in the world, it is sold as a Honda (same car, most parts the same and interchangeable). On the other hand, the Jaguar is a Jaguar everywhere in the world, and not sold as a Ford anywhere in the world. The Saab is a Saab everywhere in the world, and is not sold as anything but a Saab anywhere. And, as far as I know, Jaguar models have very little common parts with a Contour, and Saab 9-3 shares little common parts with any other GM model. BTW, Saab is GM, not Ford. ;)

"H" conversions don't necessarily mean it's JDM. LHD Honda NSXs have been built from the factory, mainly for continental Europe.

I was being exaggeratingly(is that a word?) sarcastic with my examples, trying to be funny yet make a point....BTW, you are right, Saab is a GM product, my bad...
Honda is not the first ones to cater to a HUGE car buying market and American egos' with that type of marketing...Lincoln and Cadillac ring a bell??? I'm surprised it took the Japanese companies so long to catch on to what the big three were doing for years....It only makes sence to do that type of marketing in places where the market is so huge...I don't see what the big deal is to have an "Acura" is???
The word "Acura" sounds cooler and alot more luxurious then Honda and they don't make lawn mowers and Civics:D
No offense to those who want a "Honda" but IMHO, it cheapens the NSX to make it a Honda yourself...I know, you know and other car wise people know what it really is.... but to each his own though...
