AP-X NSX turbo system (angus turbo kit)

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Angus I just read you took out ur vvis and put in a spacer is this correct? If so was this while you were coming up with ur kit? Is it better to take it out completely with ur kit? Is that the way you designed it? Sorry for asking so many:confused:. Trying to find out more about ur kit and the way vvis works with ur kit.

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

So a FIC will work ok with a 91.Do you need anything else besides the harness? Or should an EMS be used with this kit with lets say 8lbs boost?

The FIC can be used for obd1 cars as long as the tuner is capable , main reason I like it is the car will run like stock when not in boost , since it runs by the stock program , settings are only altered under boost .

Along with the FIC , you will need a set of injectors , the fic works best with 440's in my experience

Full EMS will only be necessary for over 500hp

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Steve, anytime you would like to come down feel free to. Bring a camera and video so we can post on prime. I have no clue how to do it. My oil pan is coming on Friday, so this weekend the car will start going back together. My front mount heat exchanger will be here today as well. Frank

There is no difference between the way vvis works on my kit versus other turbo setups , I have always run it disconnected since initially dynoing and finding an average 25-30hp with it disconnected , on my car , I recently had the plate machined out so it is just a spacer now.

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Started my install

First had some help changing the belts- timing water pump etc. I only have 10k on the car but its a 97 so I needed to do it.

Next I installed new injectors (440's) I soldered in new connectors (although i think SOS makes adaptors for the OEM plugs)

Did not need to fool with the resistor pack as in 97 the resistor pack went away.

Re-gapped new plugs and then removed exhaust system and o2 sensors.

I programed the AEM yesterday with a simple base map and re-flashed the box with correct fuel algorithem

Installed (temporary for now) AEM using Boomslang wiring harness- note that the two additional wire loops are not used in this installation.

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Frank , got any pics of your install?

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Wil, no pics. Just bolted on the headers this morning and the oil pan from Titanium Dave. Will bolt on the y-pipe with turbo probably next weekened. Noy sure if it make sense to mount the y-pipe w/o the wastegate. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Frank

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Frank , It is pretty easy to mount the W/G with the y-pipe on the car.

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Ok, once my next box comes from Driving Ambitions with the proper header bolts, I will install the y-pipe. Also, I need to head out to NAPA today to get the integra header gaskets that we spoke about some time ago. I will keep you posted. Frank

Re: DIY Turbo kit !

Frank , the OEM part# is 18229-SH3-X30 , but you can just get the equivalent from any auto parts store for a lot less .
