Your Opinion on an NSX JH4NA115XMT000660

Try these guys for transport, they are based in Florida and carry exotics all the time...if you have to...I too recommend driving it home http://www.exoticcartransport.com/default.htm

Also, make sure the "NSX Tech" at the Acura dealer is the one to perform the PPI. Obviously, they know this car better than others. When I got mine done I spoke to him before and after the PPI and was specific about what I was looking for.

I agree, they are very reliable and my family has shipped with them in the past.

Once again I agree. NSXin702, if you get the car checked out at Delray Acura, the name of NSX tech there is Gary. Although I don't take my car there for service, he did fix a strange grounding problem I had a few years ago.

Good luck and hopefully you'll be in the seat of an NSX soon.

shipping companies damage cars. since you have not seen it in person.... what if they said it came like that? lol your screwed

spend the 300$ for the flight, pick up the pink slip and a bill of sale and you can drive across the USA.

I have driven from TX to CA in my NSX with less paper work. Also DO NOT SLEEP! When you wake up your car will be gone and it will be a dream!

I drove mine home in 23 hours straight and havently spelt in a 1 year and a half. SWEET!
Hi Ron,
I think Levi and I both are flying to see the cars we are buying, i wouldn't buy without seeing the car first. Mine would only be a 12 hour drive but the car is up north and weather will play a factor in driving or not. I think Levi would just be driving in the south (he is so lucky).

looks great like the starter button and the brakes!
Get a PPI! Like I said before, my car was nicer than I expected but I didn't notice the A/C not working untill I was driving off. PO did not use car much so I don't think he knew, but my point is if I had done a PPI we both would have known and maybe he would have had it fixed before I got there, now I'll never know.

[EDIT] BTW: I have no idea why I clicked the "Quote" button

Hi Ron,

Just like Mike said, we both have tickets to fly out to see the vehicle personally prior to closing the deal. I can't imagine making a major purchase without seeing the goods first...=)

And I'd love to drive the car home, but I'm just limited with the number of days off I can get. But after the extreme encouragement to drive the car home from this forum, I'm going to try a little harder to get some extra time off. I'll keep ya'll posted...=)

I'm going to try to work out with the seller to have a PPI done, just for peace of mind. Hopefully he can have it done during the week, otherwise, I'll see if I can have it done on Saturday when I fly in...

Thanks again everyone, this Forum is awesome...=)

wowhoo :)

im sure you guys will have a great time. That extra day or two off work will definitly be worth it. NSX is just like any other car and will do fine in the northern weather. not like the second it rains or snows, the car transfroms into a boat  take it slow and have fun. Hose it down good when you get home to get ride of all the salt.

Also get a car bra before you go up there. THey could have salted and sanded the road.

stay away from behind semies. they tend to hurl rocks the size of motor scooters in the winter.

once again, have fun!

Hi Ron,
Not worried about rain, i don't want it driven with salt on the road. I tried to find a car bra but there are not many options for a 2002+ car. Most places that sell colgan would need 2-3 weeks to get it to me and the price of the speed lingerie one is half the price of shipping the car.

Thanks

Well Levi,
I made up my mind and went ahead and booked fedex for the 4th. It wasn't too bad at $1001.00. I gave myself a day on the flight so the only thing left to book is the hotel.

Too cool Mike. I'll know more about which shipping company I will use in a day or so. I want to make a few more calls. And the seller is willing to take the car into an Acura dealership tomorrow for a PPI, assuming I can get an appointment...=)

Wow, I ran another quote for fed ex from Florida to Las Vegas, $2413 for an enclosed transport. Glad it wasn't too bad for you...=)

Wow that is high. I guess it's because mine is only 700 miles away or because they are based in mo.

Good luck with the ppi but i don't think you will have any problems since a couple of people knew the car. But at least it will give you a better feeling knowing it's ok. Don't sweat anything minor that they find, with the years on the car there is bound to be something that they find. As long as there is nothing major you can fix the minor things later as i will do. Mine will consist of a new battery and wiper blades no big deal. (hehe, He even checked the wipers  )

Best of luck tomorrow let me know how it goes.

I am pretty confident that the car will pass the PPI with flying colors. If anything, it's good for peace of mind. I'd be ecstatic if all I had to worry about is a battery & wiper blades...=)

I'll keep you posted with tomorrow's events, assuming I can squeeze it in...=)

Just call them first thing in the morning and they can probably get it in. It's only 1-2 hour job. Just remember they are on eastern time which will be early for you  .

Damn i got to go to work now.

Cheers

Almost forgot, Have them check that the transmission is not in snap ring range even though the owner said it wasn't.

I appreciate everyone's feed back on this NSX, but unfortunately, the seller had to withdraw the sale of the car. Fortunately, he is good enough & willing to reimburse me the cost of my plane fare.

Guess the search continues...

I am so sorry to here that :frown: . I have been waiting to here the results of the PPI. And i would expect for him to reimburse you for any expense you incured since the deal went that far.

Well it could be worse, remember what happened to me. Keep looking and you will find a better one.

Good luck and keep me posted

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't getting it. I was in touch with Greg the other day he really wasn't looking foward to selling his car. He's not the type of person to lead someone on with false expecatations. I'm sorry to hear that you aren't getting it, but I'm sure another good NSX will show up.

Thanks Mike, Delray Acura couldn't fit in the PPI today, so I had it scheduled for Saturday, when I flew in. But Greg was more than accommodating with the expenses I incurred. So we're all good...=)

I've actually been in contact with Greg throughout the process, and unfortunately, he had some unforeseen circumstances come up. I don't believe he intended to lead me on. Just wasn't meant to be, that's all.

As I PM'ed Mike, the one really cool thing out of all this was stumbling across this forum. Even though I am NSXless, I plan on hangin' out to enjoy the good conversation. I'm sure my NSX is just around the corner...=)

That bites!

Let's send DocL over to yank out some incisors and I can remove a foot and replace it backwards...or at least take some toenails off, without anesthesia...
Find a white one this time, they're more special:wink:

...I stopped by my buddies shop today to show him this NSX, since he owns one himself, and he recommended looking for a '95 or newer. He was told that '95 and newer NSX's are built better, not to mention the Targa tops. Naturally, it's more expensive, but do you all agree that '95 and newer NSX's are better built? I figured they are built the same, just newer...
You buddy sounds pretty biased.

NSX's 95 and newer are "better" built? Is he on crack?

The newer NSXs are just that, newer. They also have the removable top, except for the Zanardi edition and a very rare couple of coupes that I've seen/heard of.

If the removable top is your thing, go for it.

The early NSXs are built extremely well, and don't depreciate.

Thanks FeetFxr, but Greg's actually a good guy, just a situation beyond his control...

As for a white NSX, I'm open to all colors, as long as the price is within the allotted budget set by my wife, and the car's in good shape, who am I to discriminate...=)

Hi NsXMas, that's pretty much what I thought. But since I'm still learning about NSX's, I wanted to consult with the experts of this forum. And T-Tops are not my thing. I like the looks of them, but I know how lazy I am. I have a convertible 3 series which requires the push of 1 button to drop the top, and I think I've had it down 2 times this year...=)
