Your Opinion on an NSX JH4NA115XMT000660

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

Sounds and looks nice. It's very clean and has tasteful mods. I would ask someone in S. FL. to take a look at it for you, if you are far away. Ask MiamieNeSeX or DocL, they might already know the car and it's owner and if not nearby can recommend someone to see it for you. Good luck

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

Thanks FeetFxr, someone else just pm'ed me & told me they saw this car when he was living in Texas, and it was immaculate then. From my correspondence with him he seems like a pretty meticulous individual, so I'm sure he's kept it up well. I'm just not too up to par when it came to the various brands chosen for the upgrades. Good to know they are tasteful...=)

I've already got a flight booked to go see the car & most likely close the deal. I've even got a shipping company on stand by...=)

I just hope I can get it home soon because I find myself day dreaming & staring at his pictures throughout the day...=)

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

You should make sure to get a prepurchase inspection done on the car. It should cost between $100-$200 and could save you alot if problems were to be found. If you go the the southeast region and post about where to have one inspected, someone should be able to give you the names of some reputable shops in south florida. They will check everything from wiperblades to a compression check on the cylinders of the engine.

Good luck

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

WOW, Great car it looks like. I would not procrastinate if I were you. It sounds 2-5 grand underpriced. Mine is almost identical and i jumped on it right away and had people standing in line behind me.
I bought it 2 months ago. 91 black, 40K, mint w/mods. Good luck and enjoy the car. You really should consider driving it back, its a trip you'll not likely to forget.

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

I've seen this particular NSX many times and it's in great condition. I'm actually surprised that Greg is selling it! He's had it serviced at MCA Motorsports in Miami, but if you want to do a PPI a little closer Delray Acura is only 15 minutes away from where the car is located.

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

The only thing I would change is the 8000K HIDs. Way to blue/purple!

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

Nice choice. I am in the market too. This one was on my top 3 list......guess I'm down to a top 2 list now!!:frown:

Since my search began about two weeks ago I also stare at pictures of these cars all day.....is something wrong with us?

I'd be curious to learn more about your expereince as you go through the buying process. Please be sure to keep us up to date. I also think a long drive home would be a great trip and experience. Just get a PPI before you purchase.

Re: Your Opinion on an NSX

Thanks everyone for your overwhelming feedback. Definitely makes me more comfortable with the purchase if the NSX experts find this a good buy....=)

I thought about the drive home, but sadly can't take that much time off from work. So I am most likely having it shipped.

Has anyone else driven an NSX cross country? How comfortable of a drive is that? Just in case I change my mind...=)

And I'll keep ya'll posted with my purchase. I plan on being an active member of this forum. Unfortunately, I won't be able to offer any advice mechanically, but I'll be happy to share how much things will cost me in the shop...=)

I also was looking at it, and all I can say is that I'm jaleous! I am still trying to sell my s2000, before going ahead with purchasing the NSX, eventhough I have started looking around.
In the meantime, I am sure you will love the car. Another member told me that he drove his NSX from Socal all the way to Texas.
I am sure driving cross-country in this car, will mostly depend on how much your back and buttocks can take,in the case the car was lowered, has bigger wheels...etc.

Hi Froggie,

I can't imagine you would have a problem selling your s2000. They seem to move pretty quickly here in Vegas...

I've actually been looking for the right NSX for about 3 months now, but I've been fascinated with this car since it came out.

I stopped by my buddies shop today to show him this NSX, since he owns one himself, and he recommended looking for a '95 or newer. He was told that '95 and newer NSX's are built better, not to mention the Targa tops. Naturally, it's more expensive, but do you all agree that '95 and newer NSX's are better built? I figured they are built the same, just newer...

Try and get the time off work.

The drive home for me (Texas to Northern Canada) was amazing. It's comfortable, quick and gets great milage. Easily cheaper than shipping it. The extra time off work may cost you less than the shipping company!

Since I still have a week, I may change my mind & drive it home, assuming I can take the time off, but it's unlikely. I'll most likely take it on it's first road trip from Vegas to L.A., only 4 hours each way. Start out small...=)

I'm so torn on driving that kind of distance by myself. Plus, I'm not sure if I can get temporary tags to drive the car, since it appears DMV's in Palm Beach Florida are closed on Saturdays, which is when I'm flying in. But what a great way to get acquainted with a newly bought NSX...Decisions...Decisions...=)

Yeah, I plan too. Got the flights booked, check in hand, and a shipping company on stand by. Unless something drastic happens, I'm quite confident the transaction should go as planned...=)

I have the same problem. I will pick mine up in 1 week and not sure if i will drive or transport. And i only have a couple days to decide (haven't booked the truck yet).

Just make sure to get the PPI done and you should have no problems. You do know you can have that done before you go don't you? Mine was done on friday and i paid the dealer over the phone.

Good luck

Hi Mike,

Because I'm limited on days off, I'm most likely going to ship the car. Although I just saw an NSX posted on Autotrader that was damaged when the transport truck was hit, and the NSX is damaged from all sides due to the accident. I'm sure this is rare, but that would be terrible...

And thanks for the tip on the PPI done ahead of time. I didn't realize that. I'll get together with the seller to see when he can swing it by an Acura dealership. That'll definitely save me a lot of time...=)

If you haven't found a transport company yet, let me know. I'd be happy to share what I've come across so far, pros & cons between various shipping companies....

Glad i could help  . You can setup the appointment but they should not take your credit card info untill the car is actually at the shop. Just tell them to call you when the inspection is complete to get the payment info. They should go over the report with you on the phone to let you know the outcome. Then you can have them fax or mail the report to you. This will be my second attempt at purchasing a nsx. The last time didn't go so well and cost me $2k. I guess i would probably go with FedEx unless you know of a better carrier.

Also as i found out last time getting a PPI does not mean you don't need to look the car over good when you get there. They may miss something that you don't or as in my case there were alot of things that they missed.

Cheers

Hi Mike,

May I ask how you lost 2K? Did the auto shipper charge you even though you did not use their services?

I've narrowed down my auto shippers to Direct Auto Shippers & Reliable. I found Reliable here through the FAQ.

Direct Auto Shippers have a hub 7 minutes from the seller, and one in Las Vegas, so it's convenient to drop it off & pick it up, and their price is a little cheaper, less than $100 cheaper than Reliable. Only down side with them is that they need at least 4" of clearance from the lowest point of the car, and the seller does not think he has 4", so we'd have to raise it up. Plus, since I'm flying in on a Saturday, they are only open for half a day, so I might not have enough time to drop off the car.

Reliable offers door to door service, and they ramp is specialized for race cars, which appears to be their specialty, so I won't need to raise the car for shipping. Their down side is that they can't pinpoint when the next truck is leaving Florida. It can be in a week, or it can be in a few weeks. So I would need to leave the car with the seller until they can pick it up, which can be weeks, and I would hate to inconvenience him, since he seems like a pretty nice guy.

I priced Fed Ex, but they were so much higher, I didn't even write them down...=)

And thanks for the tip on the inspection, I would have thought an Acura dealership can give me a good assessment on the vehicle. I'm afraid I can only keep an eye out for aesthetic flaws, I know nothing when it comes to the mechanics of a vehicle. Gonna have to cross my fingers on that one...

Hi Levi,
No i was going to drive the car, you can read about it here

Some dealers can give a good a assessment. With the prior one they missed alot i think mainly because they only looked at the car for about 20 minutes. The driver side rear fender had been repainted, the brackets under the hood were covered with rust, the engine compartment had quite a bit of corrosion for the miles and the tail lights were leaking water but they told me it was in excellent condition with no problems. The inspection on friday the tech took 2:15 to complete. He did everything including a compression check which i don't think the other one had time for. There was nothing major but they did find three minor things.

Transit time is a important consideration and that is one of the reasons i would probably use fedex. Plus their located in Mo which is not too far from me.

All I can say is "Dayam", what a terrible experience. I would have been pretty discouraged after that, good to see you have persevered and found another NSX to pick up.

So is this your first NSX too? Or did you own one before?

1st NSX, had a corvette before (don't tell anyone )

Yes, it sucked. But in the end it will have been worth it. This car is alot nicer than the other one but it's also alot more expensive.

go fly out there and pick it up.

shipping companies damage cars. since you have not seen it in person.... what if they said it came like that? lol your screwed

spend the 300$ for the flight, pick up the pink slip and a bill of sale and you can drive across the USA.

I have driven from TX to CA in my NSX with less paper work. Also DO NOT SLEEP! When you wake up your car will be gone and it will be a dream!

I drove mine home in 23 hours straight and havently spelt in a 1 year and a half. SWEET!
