Why are COPS such little people?

Friday I am coming home from work in Columbus, OH. Travelling through a construction area where there is always someone pulled over for speeding...I'm always very careful. I'm going about 62 in this 55mph zone, while several vehicles pass me at 70-75, right in front of a patrol car.

I see the cop pull out, and I figure someone is busted. but surprise!, he pulls up behind me in the NSX. Then he informs me that I was pulled over for not having a front plate, and !!!!! that he noticed my car was missing a plate yesterday, but was busy at the time!

This donut grubin', high school flunkin', little man waited at the side of the road all day in anger so he could ruin the day of some guy who's life is going better than his. mind blowing. It's truely an NSX tax.

Front plates are ugly, and while they are required in my state, I haven't put one on a car I have owned in 15 years. That is about 1 million miles, mostly in a state where a 10 mile drive is enough to see 4 cops, without any problem. Too bad the NSX looks like it costs 4 times it's actual price, and really gets under the skin of the little...tiny...police...man.

Oh well, the NSX is still worth the trouble. Just venting...
Matt

I'm an Ohio-an also, sorry about that...

umm, i occasionally see plates on the dash, in the windshield, but was never sure if this was acceptable.

Anyone who actually enforces the front-plate law in Ohio really does need more excitement in their lives. It's rediculous they want you to drill holes in your NSX to do it.

haha they are required in my state as well and i dont run front plates...
but alas, it is indeed the law and if someone is bored enough to pull you over for it thats your fault  as will be mine when i get pulled over eventually

so you broke the law and you are calling the cop a little person for doing his job. and you decide that this means that all cops are little people. m'kay.....

Although I can understand the natural frustration with getting pulled over and ticketed, your "venting" is not entirely justified. You admit that you were speeding in a construction zone and driving without a front plate, both traffic violations in your state. It is a little disingenous to insult the police officer for doing his job when you clearly were in violation of the local statutes. Suck it up and pay the ticket. Driving an NSX does not entitle you to "privileges" not enjoyed by drivers of "lesser" vehicles.

There's no need to drill holes in an NSX to mount a front plate. All you need is the proper license plate mount, which bolts to pre-existing holes in the NSX.

I hate to kick a man when he's down but I totally agree with this post. The cop is paid by the municipality (state or local) to do a job. That's all he/she was doing. Nothing more and nothing less.

Obviously, my gripe is that he selectively enforced the law on the NSX since it made him feel bad about his little life.

If enforcing the law was really his focus, wouldn't he have singled out the vehicles travelling 75+ mph in a 55?

BTW, to the guy saying I was speeding by going 62... two questions:
Do you personally stay below 55 mph? and Are you a cop?

To all the cops on the board I have offended, please get a real job and contribute to our society.

Quite honestly, when it comes to "little people" the first thing that comes to mind is "excuse me pot, kettle calling." Apparently you feel the need to drive an NSX to make up for your other inadequacies such as being small minded. What is it that you "contribute to society" with your egocentric rantings and narcissistic views on life?

The very definition of a "speed limit" is that anything above that limit is speeding, whether 1 mph or 100 mph. Just like there is no such thing as being a "little bit pregnant," once you exceed a "limit" then you are speeding. It is no different when I drive 62 in a 55 - I am speeding just the same as you. The difference is I do not have the attitude that I am better than the person charged with the duty of keeping "little people" such as yourself on a level playing field with all drivers, regardless of the value of their cars or the magnitude of their overwhelming sense of self importance.

the only thing that's obvious to everyone here is that you're an idiot.

you broke the law on multiple counts. you got caught. bummer, it happens.

get real, chickenlips... and while you're gettin' real, take your minus i.q. someplace else.

I have to agree with RSO, the more I read your posts the more you view annoys me. You broke the law and feel like him doing the job makes him less of a person. I have friends who are police officers and they do not live small lives because they don't own a supercar. You are a tool if you think that this guy gave you a ticket because you drive an NSX. I have had the same ticket three times in the past and I was not in an NSX. I didn't get pissed and blurt that he was jealous of my 22k sports car. Get real and get over yourself. I bet people in any sports car feel picked on by cops.

I'm sure we all slightly exceed the speed limit, so surely noone is claiming to be above that. It was just my turn...tomorrow is someone else's.

I know different people chose the NSX for different reasons. Personally, I wish it looked a bit more plain, so it didn't attract this kind (or any other kind) of attention.

Of course, I'm going to pay the ticket, and laugh it off. But again, the point is that this didn't happen because I was speeding, and it didn't happen because I was missing a front plate...it happened because of the car I was driving.

If this happened to me my attitude would be shame on me I got busted,oh well.Who knows I might have pleaded guilty on the spot and might have charmed my way out of a citation. With your poor attitude and lack of maturity(in your post anyway) this was not an option and never will be.BTW take a look at the death rate of road workers in construction sites and you'll see that fines should be at least double when folks are working very close to angry young men in nsx's

Maybe in your mind it was selective. He said he saw you 2 days in a row with no front plate, which in his mind means you weren't on your way to get it mounted or fix it. So he pulled you over. Most cops don't pull over people mildly speeding, it's a waste of time they are looking for the big tickets, and honestly you're just assuming the speed of the other vehicles. Get over yourself and your car and suck it up.

 Come on people. The American way these days is not to take resposibility for your actions. Of course it was the cops fault. He should have been out looking for serial killers and rapists. To waste our tax dollar on pulling over a car without a front plate is stupid.

On the otherhand, Matt should have had his excuse ready to go when he was pulled over. Shame on you Matt for not making up a story to tell the cop. Shesh, even OJ proved that the gloves didn't fit! It's too bad Mr. Cochrane is dead. Your defense that you've driven 66,666.66666666667 miles a year without a front plate is a good one.

Couldn't agree more.

Totally uncalled for.

Let me see, knowingly driving w/o a front plate AND exceeding the posted speed limit.....HHMMMMMMM, what could that equal? Oh, a ticket. Suck it up and accept responsibility for your knowing actions.

GEEZZZZEEEE people who whine bother me.

Perhaps I didn't explain in my original post, but this is an interstate with 6 lanes in each direction. Quite an effort was required to just 'notice' me (especially since as stated, I was in the slower lane with faster cars passing)

In my mind, it was very selective. I'm a little surprised by the general response. I know the comments towards law enforcement were a bit over the top, but is there really no one else that has been in a similar situation where they felt the NSX was singled out? Obviously, it isn't an expensive car...but I doubt the cop was keeping tabs on NSX market values.

Maybe you guys are right, and I read alot of things into the situation. But honestly, I was awestruck that this guy would be so concerned that 24 hours later he made such effort to enforce the law. the only explaination I could come up with was the car. As I said, I drive everyday without a front plate...haven't had one on any car for 15 years, and never had any trouble. In fact, I've never even had a cop mention it when I have been pulled over for speeding.

I know if you drive a riced out civic around my neighborhood, you WILL be pulled over. It has nothing to do with the law, it's about curtailing certain behaviors and encouraging some to go elsewhere.

I'd imagine he'd notice you because you drive an NSX. I know i've seen 1-2 on the road in my lifetime. If a guy sees the same one, 2 days in a row, on the same spot on the highway, he's not targeting you... he simply is not blind.

As for your comments towards police, their presence is the only thing stopping someone less fortunate from beating your ass and stealing your car. I'd honestly love to know what you do for a living that makes you so high and mighty.

As for the front plate law, i agree it isn't necessary... but it IS the law, and 56 in a 55 IS speeding. If they truly were jerks, they would pull everyone over for doing 26 in city limits. They let you slide.

Oh, and to say this car isn't expensive... you're even more insensitive. It's a $90,000 car. regardless of the fact of what you bought it for used, it is a very expensive car, both to buy and upkeep, for normal individuals.

Someone needs a wake up call. You're no better than the "little person" cop. Hell i'm willing to bet a semester's tuition he's a better man than you.

*i don't mean to get saucy, but the lack of respect is really uncalled for.

Here in CA it is required to have a front plate, but i never put them on any of my cars. I also have tint which isnt allowed, In my nsx I have never been pulled over for any reason, if i get a ticket for no front plate it will cost me $10 if I get a ticket for tint, that is now an automatic fine I think more than 100bucks. So i have the money on reserve just in case. As far as the police officer that pulled you over, maybe he just wanted to see the car up close, since he remembered it from the day before, and then gave you a ticket because he didnt like your attitude. Or maybe he hates NSX's. Maybe you slept with his wife. LOL just kidding man. It should just be a fix it ticket, sorry that you have to go through installing it and having the ticket signed off then take it to court and pay a small fine to take care of this. Good Luck

You are an Idiot and a Tool!!!!

"Of course, I'm going to pay the ticket, and laugh it off. But again, the point is that this didn't happen because I was speeding, and it didn't happen because I was missing a front plate...it happened because of the car I was driving"

What's next, throw out the race card? Give any excuse except for your actions and responsibilities. No one got caught without a front plate and speeding, just your sorry ass because you are ignorant. The cops don't think they are above the law but you sure as hell do...

Cops 1, You 0

Where do you live, since you are too scared to post it or put any real information about yourself...oh yeah..you live in Tool Land.
