Where are all the Production deliveries ??

Using the 2/3 for US factor that gives us 474 US cars

with 319 sold that says about 1/3 of US intended production is ending up on show room floors

i believe Paragon is stockpiling for spring as I saw a video with 4 in inventory at least bei stored

The update

Honda stopped provided regional specific data to affiliates soon after production of the ex US cars commenced, so no info on the proportion of H badged cars is available. Overall production is still 2/3 for US.

The determination regarding fixing or junking the LA crashed car is still pending

they didn't seem to know about the Seinfeld comedians in car getting coffee episode. From a previous discussion, because the Acura sponsorship is ending the impression was that it would not happen (but it did).

regarding the repainted one, some parts are single use so the body shop had to order parts to get humpy dumpty back together. They have no info on who fabricated the grill elements.

no news on the celebrity who had their car wrapped.

not many folks have taken tours to date.

They still don't know who supplied the car to Michelin for the pilot sport 4s event at Thermal. Apparently the previous gen Michelin tire had issues with the bead that related to repeat mount/dismount use and it is back in engineering evaluation.

you will not be able to sit in the auto show cars

they had not seen the German video with the R8+, Jag F Type and 911 Turbo S.

They do not know who supported Honda Pro Jason's track day with the NSX, could have been a dealer or a regional rep or maybe the track event folks.

i mentioned that I check out the Ford GT forum and am fascinated by the take rate and agonizing the customers go through to select stripes on the car. He will bring that idea up but doesn't expect it to stick due to the conservative culture at Honda. I am not into stripes at all but enjoy seeing what other folks do to create their own look for their car.

Preliminarily, I am spending the bucks to go to the factory, track, etc on May 1. Very expensive, should be free to owners, but you only live once!

You are right Bruce. As buyer the visit to the plants at least should be for free. I did the calculation and with the flight, hotel,.. including track drive for 2 person I end up with 10k. That you to pay pay for the track its ok but not for the plant visits!! Apparently the plant visits are only you and the concierge. They can group people, where is the problem.

Regarding the Michelin test day I saw a video on French TV. The journalist did one run with Ben Collins (the Stick) on the NSX. Not sure if this helps. Here the link of video watch up from 04:23. There are no dealer labels on the car.

Hi Rene

we had seen the video of the NSX participating the the Michelin track event

what I had been trying to find out is, did Acura arrange for this to happen

from what I have seen so far it looks like Michelin arranged for the NSX to be there without involving Acura corporate

I don't think stripes fit in with the aesthetic of the NSX (or most supercars) but I think the NSX would benefit from more color options for the brake calipers (blue, gold, lime green, yellow) as well as a few color options for contrast stitching in the interior. Also, it would really transform the interior to be able to get the aluminum portions in carbon fiber instead. Paint to sample is also pretty common in this class although I have to wonder what the take rate on that would be.

G

I completely agree with you

i keep telling the NSX Specialists that more custmization stuff will lead to more sales

They keep pointing to the conservative nature of the company getting in the way

The stripe thing is not for me but the Ford GT folks are all in for stripes

Some Ferrari and a few Lamborghini folks go there

Porsche even goes striping for cars like the 911R and they have been known to add some graphics from the factory

more exterior colors and interior options would be great.

While I don't know that PTS would make economic sense for Acura, I think some additional colors like Imola Orange, Rio Yellow Pearl, and something like Mexico or Riviera Blue (Porsche color) would be the tits. What colors do you guys wish the NSX had? I think if i could only have one additional color Imola Orange would be it.

I think the tri coat yellow that Ferrari is using is becoming the new red

a purplyblack metallic would be interesting

a copper color might also be nice

The point is if they are listening to owners, potential buyers and journalistes. I mentioned journalistes as spring last year when the NSX was presented in Portugal they received a lot of feedback regarding the interior options, external colors and especially they shift paddles, door handles quality (plastic) and low budget sound/navi. I think Honda had time to react.

On the original NSX, Honda offered three colors at the launch, then added more colors as the years went by.
No reason why they won't do exactly the same thing in the coming years for the new NSX.

A gen 2 in yellow would be hot.

^^^ That's putting it lightly

This is exactly the problem. I have a handful of friends who have already quit their mediocre paying American Honda Design or Engineering jobs because the disappointment was too much to bear (among other things related). The only guys I know there now are in the Sales side, which appears to run the show. It's amazing how clueless they are upstairs in the Honda White Castle.

It's amazing how they got the Civic Type R built. Since Soichiro Honda's death, I think the only way is to create a different sister company so it doesn't have to navigate the corporate minefield of performance car death, not unlike BMW M's or AMG (as it was before) or the specialty racing division of Porsche responsible for the GT3's et al. These divisions should be accountable for themselves. With whatever they have going on now... it will take a long long time before they get out of their own way.

Rant over...

quite honestly they dropped the ball with mugen ....that should have become the honda amg/M division.....

When I went to the Refresh Center at Honda in Japan I was amazed at the number of factory colors only available in Japan. I looked at the paint card they had and couldn't believe how many choices they had.

We are already working with a few new NSX owners on developing these parts in carbon fiber - we will be offering extended CF paddles, CF interior trim pieces and a new steering wheel shortly. Planning to unveil at NSXPO 2017 in Wisconsin if all goes well.

Jinks: Agreed a Rio yellow or Imola Orange car would be super eye catching. Also would love to see the stripes as an option!

Given these are exotic cars, owners want to be expressive and show their own style. Every other "exotic" car company offers these options with no issues so Acura really needs to get on board with the program.

Conservative or not....

acura cant get the regular accessories launched correctly.

adding another layer of ordering options? :/

in their defense, this is their first attempt at the "build to order" method.

Agreed on IO and RGY colors adding a lot of Pop. Those were my top two preferences in Gen 1. Though I ended with 3'rd choice Silverstone.

.

I'm quite pleased with their CF wheel quality and look which I added on my '02 recently. So much so I now wait for the dash and door pieces they are fabricating to compliment it.

Will be interesting to see EB offers in CF for Gen 2.
Hmmm...
has me thinking about tweaks I might be temped on for mine?
