Where are all the Production deliveries ??

We plan to order a 2018 car if the dealer gives us a fair price. Otherwise will probably just pick up a Huracan to do product development since the prices on those have fallen to nearly the same point as a new NSX.

As for the proxy of NSX's at $200k with no mark-up, many dealers will only indicate the mark-up when you call them showing interest. They are trying to keep it off the ads so people will call them.

Sorry, I posted this in the wrong thread earlier today

The update
By the end of this week 507 US cars shipped
No cars have had to go back to the factory for crash repairs
The car busted up in Taiwan was supposed to be returned by the folks in Taiwan want to repair it locally
When a car does come back to Ohio for repairs, it will be torn down as needed in a separate room, run by a guy moving from Torrance to Ohio
The repairs will be done on the production line but after hours or on the week ends
Michael B Jordan received his car
He was getting a tour during production of his car
A pipe broke at the PMC the day his visit was scheduled for and flooded the guest area
The sample of the front bumper protective coating has not been received yet
No demo cars planned
The NSX Specialist did note the opportunity to drive on on the track in Vegas and I hope they get a lot of business
Acura is looking into opening up the track experience to non owners, but they will still have to pay to play
I mentioned the guy here who imported a car into Sweden and got no help from Honda in Sweden, and that was no surprise as they would treat the thing as gray market
They do not know the take rate of the steel brakes yet
Based on the numbers above, dealers will be starting to get their 3rd cars
No news on 2018 model changes or start dates
Regarding some mini videos not being up, not all of the videos have been loaded yet and thus some owners did not receive emails informing them of their video
Regarding the number of cars piling up at dealerships, some of these cars have 1000 miles and the dealer has been driving the car and saying you want this one, pay me this much, and other dealers have just been placing them on the floor for eye candy
No expectation of a lease deal coming
They will do some research on cost of an oil change, they will price out the consumables and they have a department that estimates the # of labor hours, then we will have to plug in local shop rates to get an estimate of what some of these maintenance visits will cost

Another fleabay ad with a lease offer:

"Lease for only $2,499 with only tax title and license down!"

I asked for more specifics and received this:

"The terms were taxes down depending where you live. 7,500 miles per year for 39 months. If you have further questions about this please call me directly at 224-402-1585. We also have a Black with Red interior that will be a little less expensive available also.

Thanks

Ack Mao

How does that math work good sir?

audi sold 82 R8s in December and they have multiple versions (coupe, spider, V10, V10 plus)

More bean counting

yesterday I learned that 500 had been shipped to US dealers

with 269 sold that leaves 231 new ones available

cars.com has 141 of these new ones today, so there are another 90 new cars out there for sale

I am not quite following

what I pointed out above is that cars.com is not accounting for a good chunk of the U.S. cars shipped

if we say that 269 cars sold of the 500 shipped, then about 54% of the cars were sold at least once

the issue to me is that 46% of the U.S. cars shipped have not sold

But if this is a custom configured car and is not made by Acura on spec then why wouldn't it say 500 units have been sold at least once? If a dealer configured and kept his own allocation then that should be a "sale".

First time I have seen a fleabay dealer listing saying this:

"Dealer Principal Motivated To Sell Please Call: 908-735-5555
Contact Clinton Acura directly and speak with our NSX specialist"

Thanks for the clarification G. Irish, so just the V10 and V10 plus for now

RSO I believe the accounting practice is that sales are recorded when a customer (including a dealer principal) purchases the car from inventory

I guess I didn't take that accounting course in school. The way I look at it, if I configured my car for $200k and went to the dealer to close the sale and then the dealer tells me I can't have that car because he configured his own identical $200k NSX and he is keeping that first allocation for himself and I get the second allocation, I count two sales. As far as Acura is concerned, they have sold two units - one to me and one to my dealer. If my dealer chooses to try to profit from his speculation and it sits in his inventory for 6 months that car is still "sold" as far as Acura's bottom line should read.

I guess that's why I settled for law school instead of accounting........

As far as I can tell, the numbers Honda reports are sales to private customers, and do not include cars dealers have ordered and have sitting on the showroom floor. In the past, manufacturers have engaged in shenanigans like parking vehicles on rail cars outside the factory and counting those as 'sold' but that's not the case these days.

2017 should be a telling year since this would be a FULL year of selling the car activity. 2016 was a mixed case of delays and finally some sales.

In our eyes when a mfr (such as Acura) sells a car to a dealer or private party, that is counted as a sale. However when a dealer buys a car, do they get the title or just the MSO/MCO? So when they actually sell the car, that is the first owner shown on title.

Why not contact one of your dealer friends, find out the answer, and let us know?
