what did you drive in high school

I rode the bus to highschool in a my friends VW vanagon. Drove the P's Aires K station wagon to work when i needed to. College I got a brand new Civc moded it ect...sold it after deciding i didn't need two cars (civic and ITR) with the same purpose. Bought a 2001 ITR in CW JDM with red seats front and back. (solld it for the NSX) Bought the NSX. I also got my daily beater for buyting my Brother in law a Taylormade R-7 driver. (geo/prism/corolla with 220k mile  ) Getting a F.J. Crusier next for 3rd vehical.

First car my father bought me in High school was 1981 VW Jetta.

First car I purchased was 1983 Porsche(giant step for myself) 944 sitting on 4 flat tires and a shot gun hole in the floor board bought it for $900 bucks sold it 6 months later after daily driving for $1700 to a guy who was going to track it his comments were " man the only thing left is the engine and transmission" It had a faulty overheating gauge when you slapt it, it acted right and came right back down to middle. aahahha

The car i drove in HS was 93 Mazda MX-6 LS 2.5, pretty nice car with enough power. Its even faster than the A4 1.8TQ i bought in 99.

I waited to reply to this thread when I could post a picture of what I drove, but I couldn't find any shots of how it looked when I was in high school...until I found a Video8 Tape I recorded in 1990 with a shot of it:

1979 Toyota Celica GT

And on that same tape, I found this:

I drove my '79 Celica until I graduated from college (I had it repainted white before going to college because the original silver paint had completely oxidized).

What is it with the 9/10th's anyways. Has anyone ever seen a 10th other than 9? Can we just round it up please? Over the period of an average lifetime what will that 1/10 add up to?

I will take the last tenth of a cent from each gallon of gas sold in the US - just deposit it into my paypal account. I am saving up to buy a country. I'm thinking Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize maybe.

A pair of Reebok Pumps and costco socks and $0.35 everyday expense for the municipal transportation. I wish my mommy and daddy had money.

1976 Buick Century 4 door. Had the 231A engine, clattered like a SOB, and couldn't spin the tires on wet leaves. Mine was lemon yellow with a white roof, and had tan houndstooth upholstery.

Actually, this junkyard photo looked way better than the car I had did back in '88

I tried to make the interior really quiet, and I stuffed blankets in the insides of the doors, before I realized how drain holes in doors worked. The guy that bought it must have got a big surprise if he ever had to work in there

i drove a 98 civic ex auto, then got my NSX mid way thru senior year

In high school I drove a '90 300ZX 2+2... It was the car that got my family started on Z Cars. Shortly after I bought it, my dad purchased an '87 300ZX and started autocrossing it, which, as you can see below, got my into autocrossing. Shortly thereafter, my brother bought a '94 300ZX Twin Turbo. Following that, I sold my 2+2 to my dad and bought a Pearl White '93 Twin Turbo, which can be seen below. Shortly after that, my dad decided he wanted a new Z and bought an '05 350Z to celebrate his and my mother's 35th wedding anniversary with the 35th anniversary year Z :D... Not long after that my brother had some issues with his '94 TT (blew the motor :() and bought a '92 Slicktop NA to track, my father's 350Z was unfortunately involved in an accident which led to his '07 350Z that he currently owns, and my brother just recently purchased a project '90 300ZX. :D For a brief two month stint, I owned an '03 350Z as a DD as well. I actually sold that to get my NSX.

So, between myself, my dad, and my brother, we've owned:

1990 300ZX 2+2
1987 300ZX
1993 300ZX Twin Turbo
1994 300ZX Twin Turbo
2005 350Z
1992 300ZX Slicktop
2007 350Z
2003 350Z
1990 300ZX

My 2+2 that I had through HS

Sorry for the pic heavy post... guess I just got caught up on my trip down nostalgia lane. :D

At age 16 I bought a brand new ‘87 Chevy S-10 White with blue vinyl 4cyl/4spd manual. I think it was around $6,900. That's less than the supercharger I just put on my NSX.

Second was a 1972 240Z basket case. I found it at a body shop with a new paint job and a cracked block because it was left outside with only water for coolant. It had Koni adjustable struts, aftermarket sway bars, Pirelli P zero tires, dual Weber 2 barrel carbs, Ansa split header and full exhaust system. I swapped in a 260Z motor with a 5spd. Then I swapped out the white interior for black. Exterior was blue metallic. That was a lot of fun to drive and it sounded great. I think my dad missed that car more than I did when I sold it. He had a ’72 240Z back in the day and he enjoyed driving mine from time to time.

Third was a 1979 Chevy Malibu maroon/maroon with vinyl bench seat. By the time I sold that it had a .030 over 4 bolt main 350 with a 125hp shot of N2O, turbo 350 tranny and 3.73 posi rear end. Good in a straight line but not to good in the corners. I actually almost rolled it the first day I owned it because I was used to how well my 240Z handled, in comparison.
With a bench seat and column shifter it was a bit of a sleeper. It won it’s share of drag races. Always at the track of course. : )

Then a few beaters
'83ish Subaru Brat $100
'84ish Pontiac J2000 $200
'82 Camaro 4cyl/4spd can't remember the price, POS though

1966 Pontiac Tempest (GTO wannbe) 2dr Blue with black vinyl, 389 engine with a 4spd Muncie tranny. Good for cruising with your friends. The exhaust came out right before the rear tires on each side. It had headers with glass pak mufflers which made it very loud.

In the summer of ’89 I bought a brand new Suzuki GS500 motorcycle white with blue stripes. I think it made all of about 35 hp but it got better than 60 miles per gallon.

And my last vehicle in high school was an '82 F100 2 wheel drive pick up my dad gave me after many hard years of service for his construction business.

I replaced the 6cyl/3spd with a 351M/400 V8 and 4spd trans. I replaced the carpet and put in a bench seat with molded bucket seats and fold down center arm rests. Repainted it dark blue and added 15 X 10" aluminum wheels with BFG Radial T/A tires. LOL, I thought it was cool back then, how things change. I put a fiber glass Leer cap on the bed and loaded all my worldly possessions in the back and drove to Denver Colorado to start college.

I think that is all my vehicles from when I was in high school.

Thanks for the memories and allowing me to ramble on.

I actually didn't drive in HS. I didn't like driving and never bothered to get my license until I was 20 or 21. I got tired of taking the bus to work and bought an 86 accord with something like 260k miles from a friends' dad.

The Accord blew up 6 months later and I bought a nice 69 impala from my parents which I drove for a few years, but still didn't like driving very much. The Impala was funner to want than it was to actually own.

I finally realized that driving was fun when I got my 2002 TL-S in 2004 or so. I got a 03 Pathfinder 2 years ago right before my son was born so we'd have a "family car". I don't like that car much.

Then less than 2 months ago I got my NSX. I'm not really sure where I can go from here.

I drove a bright gold (but faded) 1977 Mercedes 280E. It was a tank but all the racers would trip out because it would consistently chirp on 2nd. I remember that was a big thing back then. My dad eventually trusted that I could handle a more normal car without wrapping it around a telephone pole so for the remaining two years of HS i drove a beat up but beloved 2nd Gen RX-7.

I remember having Autobahn mesh on them with massive lip. I bet almost no one here remembers those wheels. haha.

1976 caprice estate wagon

This beauty had the "optional" dump truck rear end. Man did I love that feature. The rear glass would slide up into the headliner, and the bottom section would roll under the rear seat to open the back up completely like a dump truck.

1984 Honda Accord DX hatchback that I bought from my sister for $1500. Man I'd kill for that $57/month car payment right now. Mine was light blue and had that cool metal vent across the rear glass.

440 CID Magnum 4BBL , Slap-Stik 727 auto - fully loaded to the gills including rare factory roll-back sunroof.

Got 8 mpg downhill with a tailwind , but was driven at 135+ mph  on a regular basis by a driver too young to know any better.

This, in silver and with about 250k on it. It was pre-named Rhonda when I got it. It later became christened 'the jeep'. Lots of good times had in that car.

Been driving my GSR for over a decade. I had a 99 Grand Am, 2001 S2K and a 00 Pathfinder in between but always stuck to the Integra, which I still drive today. 200K miles, >200HP... Why not?

Oh yeah this is me in HS. My first car was this 91 CRX Si

I had a 1990 CRX Si I bought new when I was a senior. It was flint black as well !!! IN 1990 my insurance was 3000.00 per year !!!!! I would have only paid 1200.00 a year if I bought a 5.0 Mustang. The CRX was hit once, it was never the same so I bought a 1991 Tahitian green CRX Si the following year. I owned the 91 for 5 years, it then went through several freinds and now I own it again !! I will be restoring the rust free car over the next year or 2.
