This is the first Bugatti Veyron to be wrecked on the streets. It is the fastest and most expensive production vehicle in history, list price about $1.6 million.
The Veyron was doing around 100mph when it spun out of control, spinning 3 times before hitting a Vauxhall Astra with a 7-month pregnant woman inside. It then smashed into trees up a 3 foot embankment.
The Bugatti driver was with a younger male passenger. The car was taken away by the same truck driver who had delivered it to the owner just a week earlier. The owner is a businessman in his 40's who runs a rental car company with his brothers.
Yesterday insurance assessors began working out whether the hand-built French motor was repairable — or the most exclusive write-off on the planet!!!!!
The witness said the “fed-up” driver and passenger were staring at the Bugatti when a third man drove up in a 4x4 and started raging at them. The Bugatti is owned by a businessman in his 40s who runs a car hire and management company with his brothers.
Outside their home yesterday a man claimed he had rented it to the driver for £20,000 a day and that it was bought for £925,000 — more than the list price. Nick Lancaster, Chief Executive of dealers HR Owen which sold the motor, said: “It is the first Veyron I have heard of being damaged. We cannot say yet whether it is written off or not.”

Apparently the car belonged to Kumar Soni of Shepperton, Surrey. It is thought that the car was delivered to the family home just last week.
Both Mr Koni, 41, and his younger brother Ajay, 39, were in the car at the time of the incident but it is unknown who was at the wheel.
The brothers along with their 64 year old father, Sutantar, run a number of car hire, property and management companies based in Mayfair, London.
The man who turned up at the scene in the 4x4 was thought to be the father. A witness said "He was screaming and shouting and could not believe that the car had been crashed."
After giving his sons a good telling off he refused to give them a lift home leaving the pair to walk home in the rain.

I was graduating from high school in 85, my wife had just started kindergarten in 1985.:biggrin:
