The New Acura NSX - Rendering Confirmed!

Here is my attempt at making it in 3D, I was planning to carve out a 1/5 scale RC out of this but Im not so sure anymore.
Looking at my NSX model, it reminds me of the Reventon... sharp lines but also very curvy. I think its a great design, lets just hope the final design comes out nice.

the side vents...are they real vents or just fake vents like the mid 90's Mustang?

Oh believe me, they will not reveal the total hp the car will make in 3 weeks.

Yeah they'll give an estimate. They'll have a plaque saying 450+ hopefully.

Bro don't make a scene at the car show... I don't wanna read an article on yahoo news... about how a Michigan man was escorted out of the car show in cuffs as he assaulted Honda reps screaming "350?! All this wait and the best you could do is 350?! Really? 350? My grandma's car..... Oh no you DIDN'T"

Im struggling with the B-pillar. :frown:

Other than that, it looks fairly good. A bit Lambo-ish in fact.

And the shape suggests a MR layout no? Good luck cramming a v6 under that small front bonnet.

Love the design, it is very original looking. This will help make this car another timeless design. I think I'm going to cancel my Tesla S reservation today.

I love seeing all of the armchair quaterbacks designing their own rendition of the next NSX. This is exactly the same thing that happened with the HSC, and that project ended up in the abortion clinic hazardous waste. You are all going be let down just like before. The only plans Honda has for now is a re-engineering the Civic due it's poor sales.

Truth be told I've been wanting to kick Ito in the nads for years ( killing the HSC , ASCC then giving us the CRZ ) but if it is 350 from the V6 I'll be very disappointed but not mad as it will mean the car has 450hp total with 500lbft of tq. The combo of DSG and launch control with the SHAWD will still make this a very fast car.

Not just about hp anymore and people here seem to forget how fast the NSX was with just 290hp from old tech. The electric motors are gonna be like nitrous brother:biggrin:

I'll be there for the unveiling and get you guys pics. Hopefully I'll be able to get close enough to give everyone a dimension comparison.

I feel they can build a car with a lower horsepower number, they just can't price it near 100K. How about they put it at $60,000 like the original?

I believe the correct vernacular is Tree Fiddy? Only Tree Fiddy?

How is a halo car going to be 60?! A loaded ford f150 crew cab is almost 60. Why would they do that even if they could? No one would take them seriously. It's a halo car. It needs to be expensive and exclusive. 60k and everyone will buy one. Even if it was possible.

LOL Yes that is correct , but I wouldn't come at Ito that way as a lot of people don't know "hood" has come to Asia and they can get really ghetto. He'd probably "get wit me" for "not coming correct"

Can't blame a guy for trying but what he's saying Dave is if it's a lower hp number car how can they ask $100k for it. I agree as if it's a total 350 ( which it won't be ) price has to come down. GTR is a halo and it's not exclusive.

Thank you, I won't be able to get to Michigan to check it out

Not a problem and I've been following this for so long be nice to see what they've finally come up with.

It won't be a halo anything if it doesn't compete with HP or they add a ton of "lightness", but something tells me two extra electric motors and the stuff to run them isn't going to make this a 2950 lb car....

actually the entire Acura line is being revamped. I work in their corporate operations division and heard the news directly from our president. the NSX is happening, the ILX will ultimately replace the TSX, the RL has been completely redesigned and the RDX has been updated. They also have a new accord for next year. big changes are happening and given the ZDX design, you can count on designing moving back to Japan for he most part while the Acura line gets more of a build presence in the united states.

the HSC got scrapped after the economy tanked but things are improving. Honda has a huge goal to make the next two years iconic in both sales numbers and design.

let's see what happens in Detroit. I spoke to a number of people who were in vegas and the dealers were full of excitement and the NSX reveal was a very emotional one.

Awesome post Jon! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jonathon! Actually it was the ASCC that got scraped due to economy the HSC never got a green light past being a concept. Thanks for the TSX info as there'd been some debate on Vtec.net as to whether it would be the TSX or TL.

TSX made the most since to go with the ILX coming into play. Plus this way Honda can do the Accord as a smaller world car here as well as the rest of the world.

Also glad something was finally done about the RL as it was horrible how it was just left to die.

Most here have been Honda fans for a long time we're really hoping you guys are serious about a turn around.

Do you think they'll have a cupholder in this one?
Or is every new owner going to have to buy a $300 cupholder mod?

Also.... 60k in 1991 dollars is like $130k in Today Dollars (using 4% annual inflation)
and $90k in 1991 dollars is like ~195k in Today Dollas

Ok using actual CPI $90k is more like $150k from 1991 to 2010 but still.

If they can price it at $100k in Current Dollars, I think it would be a serious discount to the original.

So I can call the Acura headquarters and ask to speak to someone and quote you?

The last time there were rumors of a next generation NSX I went to the Acura dealer and was ready to put a $10k deposit down. The manager was honest and told me to keep the deposit because they didn't have any concrete information that a new NSX would be produced. Unfortunately when Honda/Acura cry NSX too many times it doesn't make me a believer anymore.

I hear ya Doc but let's not beat Jonathon up he's just trying to spread some Christmas cheer. I too although happy am still not fully trusting that Honda will go through with this. Two things make me feel optimistic.

1. This a Hybrid and Honda can't get enough of them.
2. This NSX is Ito's vision and he'll still be in charge the next four years so another CEO won't cancel it like he did the ASCC.

You're right. I mean no harm in questioning where the information is coming from. I'm going to lay off this topic for a while and let Jonathon enjoy his new NSX that he's driving home as I type this.

Well the question is...can it beat these 2 rivals?
