The four hour fuel filter change

My impact wrench is a 1/2" electric that's getting fairly weak (it has problems removing wheel lugs torqued to 100 ft. lbs.). I will try and locate a good one (or buy one) and try again. Seems to me it would be easier to just cut the original filter out and hose clamp another type on and mount it to the same diagonal support the fuel pump resistor connector is mounted to. Any thoughts on why not??

May not look as clean as the OEM setup? If you can, go for it.

The fuel lines have specific shapes and lengths that would not reach to other positions cleanly if at all. I can't see how moving the filter somewhere else would be easier than just getting the right tool for the job.

Fuel filters come in all shapes and sizes. If you cut the hard lines you could clamp fuel lines to them and put any shape/size filter anywhere you wanted. Then changing the filter the next time would be a simple/easy job.

I think you'll find it's an easy job with a decent impact wrench too.

Is there a chance you'll ever sell the car? I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I'd be turned off by seeing reworked fuel lines that are there for no other reason than to avoid getting the tool that works fine for the usual job.

I think you're right about people and resell. I am getting a new impact wrench and will try it again. But the reworked fuel lines would be for other reasons than simply not having the right tool. I would be adding a pressure guage and future filters would be see through, easier to change and less exspensive. I've done my share of fabrication so it would look professionally done. If I decide to go that way I'll post pictures.
Happy Motoring!
