oiiiiiii, why am I just seeing this now. I'm sorry pal. That's such a bummer. If its any consolation, I think you're the only one in recent memory I can remember that's blown a motor on the stock CTSC setup. Not sure if that makes you feel better or worse.
FWIW, I was always wondering why many more didn't blow. My 1st year dyno'ing my NSX with the stock CTSC we started noticing subtle fuel mapping failure points in the dyno graph as intake air temps got hot (trust me.. it was wacky). That was a sign I needed to yank out the RRFPR et al and that's when I went with a HKS computer. ECUs are so so so underated. It's like the difference with your gradeschool calculator vs. a smart phone. The following year or so, I got lucky and noticed a weeping head gasket at the
#5 cylinder, while R&R'ing the headers... I got lucky because it could have blew. The early cars are known for having a paperlike head gasket that doesn't like prolonged boost. It was at that point Coz came to the rescue and basically rebuilt the heads with a Cometic head gasket, LMAs, Toda oil pump gear and other bulletproofing materials. The last item needed was the water/meth spray system to keep the intake air temp consistent and predictable. Even though i'm only on 7-8 psi "low boost" my setup has been bulletproof for about 4yrs with several track miles. KNOCK ON WOOD
Speaking from experience after trolling nsxprime for 10+ yrs... you ought to stay <400wHP because other sh*t starts breaking like transmissions, motor mounts, axles, etc. It's a f*cking waterfall of hurt dude. I'd recommend going 400whp (maybe 425wHP boost by gear) and getting a 4.23 final drive for the acceleration bonus. Yea, there's a passionate group of owners that will swear their 600+wHP haven't broken this or haven't broken that but this is my take having known several guys here in SoCal that drive their cars hard that don't spend time online.
I'd also recommend you look at the turbo kit A.S. Motorsport is offering. It's one of the best thought out turbo systems out there. The SOS twin is also nice.
Lastly, much respect to Shad but I would never put that aftercooler on my car (see my build thread why). If you must stick with a CTSC setup, do what I did and spray meth/water instead. It's cheaper and distributes the cooling more effectively. It's add insurance by way of added octane from the meth too.
Good luck amigo. You'll get out of this better at the other end!
