The Type R Front under plate arrived today. I debated between the OEM piece vs. the Procar Piece for a long time, and I decided to go with the Procar piece. I will post pictures after installing it onto my car. There are some minor differences between the Procar product vs. OEM, so some fiddling required to fit it with the front bumper under cover. I have to say, the Procar unit is absolutely beautiful. It is much grander in person. It is also made with Dry Carbon process; therefore, much stronger than the typical Wet CF products out there.

Here are some pictures:

It is the replication of the Aluminum piece under the battery tray. Let's see how much fiddling is required to make it fit onto the Urathan front bumper under cover.

Ahhh this is the piece I was looking for for months. I bought the Downforce version which apparently is not a direct replica:frown: You got this from Procar right?

Hi Vance,

Wow, that looks absolutely great.
Would it be possible for your to post the weight of this part as well as its dimensions ??
I made a similar piece out of a sheet of aluminum and would like to know if I got my dimensions at least a little bit right.

Got the under aero cover up today. There were fitment issues. According to Procar, Detief used the NSX-R prototype piece to cast the mold, and it was before the front under bumper cover was developed, so the two do not connect. I have to go to MV Design or Downforce to have a connecting piece fabricated first thing next year. Also, since I have a 02 spec NA2, the shape of the battery tray was different, so I had to used spacers, bore out the existing holes to make it fit. Over all, it is a very impressive piece. I like the way it looks and the dry carbon manufacturing method give it stronger structural integrity. There is a big question now, since the two front under covers will not connect, I'm a little concern about it's functionality, if I will have any problems during high speed cruising. I guess I will have to find out when I take a road trip. I may have to order the OEM piece after all.

Here are some pictures:

If you look at the bottom right area of this photo, you will see the two pieces are about an inch apart. Some fabrication work need to create an additional piece later to connect them.

Even though it is hidden, It does gave the car a serious impression when viewing it. More aggresive.

I didn't see your post till after it was installed. I will make a measurment for you when I take my car in during next oil change.

I haven't tried putting on my battery tray yet as I need to get the NSX-R hood first. Hey Vance did you get the radiator cover yet? The piece that funnels air up through the hood.

Not yet, I'll bring 10 in January.

Look me up around the 15th of the month.

I got few on the waiting list. It is a direct replica of the real deal. It will go for around $300 bucks. I have to see how the exchange rate and shipping cost is going to be. I have few on the waiting list, but I'm going to order more than what I have on the list.

Vance, do you have the part number for the front bumper diffuser? Thanks.

You know what? I don't. Dali can order that for you, it is fairly cheap.

Vance, looks very good from here.

Our front bumper diffusor in carbonfiber (the part which connects the front lip with our frontplate) comes next summer, after our projectk with the 2002+ front conversion is done.

The JDM plastic part is a bit too short, but a connecting piece should be not that problem in your case.

You will see that the part is working very good, our tests here showed that.
And....we dont had installed the front bumper diffusor.

Great I'll definitely buy one.

Hey guys

What's the front bumper diffusor? Any pics or is the same as the reduced front condenser opening?

It's the one connected after the front lip to the under plate. Suppose to make the airflow smoother under the front bumper. Our local part/tuning shop owner just got an NSX and now is getting GT-One exhaust Version 5.1 from Mr Hitoshi and few other goodies so I could also get some good deals if I do group buy with him and other local owners.

Vance I am probably stating the obvious, but if the part you are refering to is the spare tyre spacer thing, do not forget NSX-R are RHD.

Cheers,

AR

May go with the NSX R GT route, Route-KS kit. Talking to those guys right now.

And Procar just send me the good news. My NA2-R ECU has been ordered. The ECU is same spec as what Honda use in the "press" car, which supposedly will have more aggressive HP rating. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Will be interesting to see how much more NA power I can extract out of that:smile: Hopefully it is plug and play.

One more thing, once the ECU is received, I will find out if it is downloadable and make it available to people.

Hi Vance,
Whats the status on the 'Press' ECU. If you've installed, can you notice a difference in response. Is it plug and play?

Please, what do you mean by more aggressive HP rating?

Finally, is it downloadable and would it be compatible for UK ECU?

regards, Paul

The ECU works great, but I had to remove it because the temp gauge stop working; therefore, I assumed there were some changes in wiring schematic. I'm waiting for a local guy who knows how to program AEM to take a look at the ECU. If he can solve the problem...

I had the ECU in the car for an afternoon and it was fun to drive. Perhaps it is a mental thing, but the engines seems to sound lounder and the throttle response more aggressive.

According the Procar, the ECU was the "press car" spec. If you have seen BMI, Tsuchiya mentioned once that his modified NSX-R beat the Honda's Press car, which supposed to have more power.

The ECU is for NA2/OBDII, so I assume it is for 1997 and up.

Vance,

Thanks for coming out to Thurday's 626 meet. Saw your car in person and I still can't believe how well executed it is. My brother and I still can't stop talking about it.

Tom

Looking good as usual Vance man....

Good old memory!!!

That exhaust sure has a deep tone Vance... is that the header doing that? I don't think the V2 sounds like that on its own does it? It sounds so different than my car.
