I was just looking for some feedback.Wanted to know if anyone would be interested in a new style rocker panel.I am thinking about making some and was open to suggestions to what they should look like.I would like to create something different and cost effective.I love the gruppe m stuff but can't justify the money they want for them,I bought a wings west and sorta like the look but find it too flat looking and doesn't fit all that well. These cars look like $100,000 machines and some are and I believe the parts should fit as such.Needlessly to say the wings west panels are now lying next to my car.I love the stock look but wish the rockers came down a little lower.I don't know whether to put a vent in them or not? Please give me input (pictures or descriptions) of what you might think would be the ideal look. I do understand that alot of you love these cars as is, so please just let this be for those who want a change.I definately DO NOT want to turn this into an arguement so please respect all those who reply.
Thanks alot for all your suggestions Stacy

I like the look/design of the Lecher's side skirts which is why I have them on my car. If you like the GruppeM stuff you can get the copy cheap at Dali Racing, and they even come in CF (which you can paint if you don't like that look).

Make it looks like the 02 stock style but don't need any modification for it. (seems like the OEM one doesn't "bolt on" to pre02 panel) If you can make it close to whatever WingsWest ask for , that's even better..

Ken, it's "stock" :p

I agree, it would be nice if you could make something that was lower, but still looked stock. IMO no vents.
I think the second vent takes away from the clean lines.
My $.02

The WW side skirt can be made to look stock, all you have to do is modify(eliminate/cover) the vent area. Not a big deal and I can give some suggestions on how to do it.

The Dali Racing skirt looks exactly like the GruppeM unit, see here:
http://www.daliracing.com/v666-5/catalog/index_browse_part.cfm?focus=1281
and it doesn't have any vent in it.

The complete kit looks exactly like GruppeM's, so if that's what you like go for it:

Exhausted all options for one reason or another and decided to make rocker panels.I'm just in the middle of it,and trying to decide how much lower than stock I should make it?
I have compared them to the Wings West kit I had previously purchased and trying to build them about 1 or 1.5 inches lower than them.Roughly 8 to 9 inches from body underneath air intake.(stock one is 6.5 inches Wings West is 7.5 inches).Looking for further input on what you might like to see?
Not looking for style suggestions at this point just sizing.
Thanks in advance to all those who respond.

I too am looking for different side skirts. Something that looks clean like it could be OEM but lower than stock. I am installing a '02 rear valance and would like the lines of the side skirts to flow with it.

I have been toying with the idea of designing and making my own. How are you making yours? What are you making them out of? What are you using to model them?

Thanks,
Steve

If my idea works the profile will flow great with the 02 rear valence. They will either be fiberglass or carbon fiber in the end.One thing for sure thay are going to fit exactly like stock panels only alot lower, none of this 1/4 inch too long wings west kit.As far as how,I really don't want to get into details until I know it works. Will keep all those interested in a set posted.

The very clean look is nice. Making something like the 02' but that extends lower would be very nice. A very subtle sideskirt... If these were avialable I would replace the sideskirts that came with my car.

Maybe fender skirts are coming back in style! :D

Come to think of it, I think I recall seeing them on the rear of at least one new car...

Have no idea of the purpose of that post here, but that is one ugly looking car in real life. ANYWAY looking for constructive comments on these side skirts and what you might want to see.
Please stay on topic here.
Thanks Stacy

I would be interested in a set of side skirts, I was planning on buying an OEM set of '02+'s and door fill pieces, I dont really like the look of an additional vent in the side. If you make a set, lower is a plus, as is smooth and consistent with design(02-OEM). If your plan is to copy oem '02 just lower, I will get you a deposit now, and maybe interested in a second set.

If stock(pre 02) is 6.5 then '02s must be ~7.5+, so I would say 8.5 would be a great look.

guys,

check out the Do-luck Side skirts, those are the ones i was going to put on my car, but I ended up selling them. Pretty much their stock looking side skirts..sort of..and they are lower. I believe, a guy in houston, has them on his purple or long beach blue nsx, take care

Appreciate the response Edgemts.I just came up with the design today!Looks deadly on the car, just want a few other opinions from friends. If you are in no hurry I will keep you in mind for future sales, possibly even a set for cost just for trying them out!I will keep you under my friends heading and as I get closer to the final product , I will e-mail you pictures.
Thanks again for the response Stacy
P.S. The front part of the skirt is roughly:5.25 inches
the rear:9.00 inches
Those measurements are rough and are from the top of the skirt where it meets the body to the bottom of the skirt. There is going to be no side vent.(I agree with you on that)

As far as the Do-Luck side skirts I found that it was a little to square looking. Not looking to ruffle feathers here each person will have their own opinion(I'm sure alot of people like them),but it wasn't what I was looking for. Also very expensive!
