Problem at startup!

Reviving this thread because the weather is getting cold and I think I am having similar problems as discussed in this thread.

As soon as it started getting colder in the mornings (50 degrees or less) the car does this weird idling as if searching with the idle going up and down and then after about 30 seconds idles normally and no problem. I haven't had any problem while driving but I sometimes think i felt just a hint of hesitation at a very low rpm but I cant say for sure.

It looks like Ryan found his problem (loose wire) but what about everyone else? Was it the loose ground?

I haven't begun to diagnose yet but I was wondering if there was ever a general consensus on what causes this or it could be several items and they each have to be checked.

TIA

+1. Where is this vacuum hose #4? Page in the manual?

Since I only know about it and not actually done this - I "believe" it is on page 220/1240 of the 1991 manual (th one available on-line); in the fuel and emission page 11-44.

From what I recall, it is the longer hose that goes parallel to the trunk wall and curves down to the ground. It might get clogged by dirt.

Cool. Thanks. I just checked my on-line manual and I found it. What is that "Control Box" in the diagram? Is that the fuse box?

The new owner of 2002 #5 reported that my ex-car did this again on cool AMs. He replaced the voltage regulator (I think) and said that fixed the problem. I will PM him to chime in here with details.
