Get Well soon! Thank God you're o.k.!!!!

As most of you know I was involved in a serious car accident on Wed May 23, 2007. My family and I have been overwhelmed with concern from everyone with phone calls, txt messages, E-mails, and of course on here. Most of you have heard or seen the news stories articles, it’s not everyday that someone could come out on top of a situation like this. I’m so very fortunate to be surrounded by so many amazing people in my life.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone that is helping me get through this difficult time, and also a heartfelt thank you to the people that helped rescued me! I definitely feel like one of the luckiest people in the world right now! There is someone watching over me, thank god I’m still here, and thank god for being my co-pilot! I’m so glad to be alive! Feeling very…very lucky! On the road to recovery...

Glad to hear your well. You will appreciate life even more as a result, its a gift. :)

Happy to hear your on the road to recovery! Enjoy Life

RudeBoy, glad you are ok. My Mom rolled her Accord the same day. During the roll over my 11 yeard old nephew was pitched out the window(no belt-he was sleeping on the back seat) and both are ok. So at least 3 lives saved because Honda makes a GREAT CAR!!!
GO HONDA!!!

EVERYONE in a car should wear seatbelts all the time! More survivable accidents have deaths and serious injuries because the people in the cars aren't as smart as the car designers.

Please, everybody wear your belts and make sure everyone in your car has them on - If I found out my kids were travelling with anyone and not wearing belts it would be their last ride. (I wouldn't hit my kid with the a pillow travellign at 30mph, why would I let them sit in a car that would stop quickly from 30 and risk them hitting the seatback in front of them?)

I'm glad I'm here to tell the story... the car defineatly saved me, I got tapped on the passenger side rear entering the freeway on ramp, which caused the car to fishtail left. I tired my best to recover and basically corrected the spin but it was too late, got into the gravel shoulder of the road and sent into some poles lined with a thick guy wire. The other car originally I thought he was involved with me, but he somehow managed not to get entangled with me, and then fleeing the scene. The car's air bags didn't go off, had a section of the roof cave in onto my head, and the driverside door wound up crushing around my left shoulder taking majority of the impact.

Yes the car is offically an write-off this week, as per the insurance c/o (not that I didn't know that before). Probably would have been fixable before the roof was cut off to get me out safely, the car was butchered by the emergency people, but the car can be replaced and I can't so I'm glad in a way, and sad in another to loose such a great car. The firefighters & paramedics thought I might have had a spinal injury and didn't want to take the chance of me moving to get out through the doors.

Thanks for everyone's kind words, I was pretty lucky as the guy wire came about 2~4 inches away from my face, I sustained minor injuries cuts, bruises, some nice whiplash, and some nerve damage in my neck, and very sore all over my chest and back area. I'm currently seeing a chiropractor & doing some physio to help get back to I hope will be somewhat normal again soon?

As for the NSX working through my settlement this week, and hopefully I can buy replacement car soon. I was given the option to retain the car, so I probably will keep her and either sell it, or part her out. My car was all services all up to date, ~140 000 Kilometers or ~ 87k miles on it in mint condition. I'd like to try and buy a 97+ but there are slim pickings here in Ontario, Canada. So I might come States side to find an newer car...

Glad to hear you aren't hurt too bad.

Look forward to seeing you around and if you really loved those LE28Ns, I have a set for you  for your next NSX

Yes I noticed you have your set for sale? Lucky for me the wheels are good on mine still, one has some rash on it but defineatly either fixable or replaceable, and 3 of them are in excellent condition still. I love the wheels they complement the car, without taking away from the beauty that is already there... I'm surprised no one has jumped on your set yet?

Sorry, but I've been puzzled by this since the thread was first started. Others have called it a guide wire. Either way (guy wire / guide wire) I don't understand what you hit. Please explain what the function of this wire is. Seems pretty dumb to have a horizontal wire (what this seems to be) off the side of an on-ramp without a guard rail or something to keep people from hitting it.

Guide-Wire, Guy wire... safe to say we are talking about the same thing... instead of have a 'soild' metal guard rail, they use 6~8 inch poles in the ground, lined with a heavy gage wire. Yes I have to agree hitting one of these is bad news, have you ever been close-lined like the guys in WWE? That is basically what happend to me...

The cable is the guardrail. Memphis installed the same thing last year on I40 through town in the center of the interstate. :frown:

Looks like this.

Get well soon RudeBoy.

The poles that hold our guide wire is about 4ft above ground, and 18-20ft underground. There are about 6-8k for each pole installed with the wire....I took out 6 of them awhile back...

They have these wires throughout most of the freeways in the phoenix area. In a car they might be better than hitting a solid rail, but I just imagine myself being split in two hitting one of those poles on my bike.

I have to say, that this discussion really makes me question the safety of those wires. Auto manufacturers spend millions of dollars crash testing cars, but I've never seen a video of a chevy with a crash test dummy hitting a metal wire rope at a 3 foot height, never mind a motorcycle.
